4. Felix

CHAPTER FOUR

FELIX

“Sorry,” I groaned, picking up a hefty set of pliers.

“But that answer’s not good enough for me.

” The man before me, strapped to an old metal chair, was one I’d spent half the day interrogating in the hopes of learning more of Kief's plan. Or at least what he was going to do next. If not for me and my siblings’ sake, then for Dream’s.

I clamped the jaws on his front tooth, squeezing the handle tight as the blade cracked the bone. The man screamed as I took my time plucking it from his bloodied mouth. He cried, spitting drool and blood all over my gear.

“Now that's just rude.” I used my glove to wipe the stains from the protective vest I wore. I was breaking a sweat, my forehead soaking beneath my mask and gear.

Why can’t this fucker just tell me what I need to know? I have better things to do than waste my whole day torturing him.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a piece of the hard candy Dream had given me, popping it under my mask and into my mouth. The sugary strawberry flavor instantly calmed my temper, reminding me of my night with her.

Not now…fuck…focus, Felix.

I cracked my neck, tossing the pliers aside.

The man cried, begging me to let him go.

I turned to look at him, amused by how pathetic he was behaving.

“Let you go?” I scoffed, picking up one of the handguns laid out on a nearby table.

“There seems to be some kind of misunderstanding.” I raised the gun and aimed it directly at his skull with a wide smile.

“Look into my eyes, and tell me who I am.”

The man sobbed hysterically. “Please!” he howled. “Please—I don’t know where he is! I don’t know! I swear!”

“That’s not what I asked.” I pressed the tip of the barrel against his forehead. “I said…tell me who I am.”

The man wailed, eventually breaking as he finally answered me in defeat. “The green-eyed devil.”

I scoffed. “That’s right. And no one leaves my devil’s den alive.

” The man trembled with absolute fear, his reddened eyes wide as I pulled the trigger.

The bullet shot directly through his brain, tunneling out the back of his skull and embedding in the dirty tile floor.

Blood, brain matter, and small bone fragments had sprayed through the hole in the back of his head, leaving his battered body lifeless.

I lowered the gun, sucking on the hard candy. “Fucking worthless.” The door behind me creaked as Haze stepped into the room. “Hermano.”

He stopped in front of the body, his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “Damn.” He whistled, admiring my work. “Another rat?”

I nodded. “They found him working out of the Green Goddess.” I picked up an old rag and wiped my hands.

“How long did you spend with him?”

“I started around nine this morning.” I looked up at a clock we kept at the other end of my torture chamber. “Roughly five hours or so?”

Haze grinned. “Not bad. Did he give up anything good?” I shook my head. “Damn.”

I moved the hard candy around in my mouth then crossed my arms. “What do you want, baby bro?” He stood tall, visibly irritated by what I’d called him. It made me grin.

“I got word that Kief’s been sneaking people out this way, blending them with normal civilians while keeping tabs on all of us.”

“So?”

His brows furrowed as he pulled a vape out and took a long hit, holding it in for a moment before blowing the smoke into my face.

“So…” Haze walked toward me. “That means, until further notice, we’re on lockdown.

” He jabbed his finger against my chest and grinned.

“Which means no more sneaky little midnight adventures for you, big brother.” He winked as if knowing what I’ve been doing.

Fucker.

I rolled my eyes. “Kief knows better than to have anyone tail me. He knows I’ll kill whatever fucker was dumb enough to try. Just like the guy we caught following Indigo last year.”

Haze’s expression darkened almost immediately at the sound of his twin’s name.

“Kief should know Indi is off limits.” He took a second hit, his inherited anger beginning to peek through.

“No one fucking touches her. Not even fucking Kief.” His words genuinely terrified me.

And I feared for the man stupid enough to cross such a line.

Let’s hope that day never comes.

“I’m not going on lockdown, Haze.”

Especially not now.

My brother studied my face closely before speaking. “Then let’s hope you’re prepared to deal with whatever bullshit he might have planned for you.”

I intend to.

I leaned against my cruiser, parked out the back of The Red Eye. After everything Haze said, I felt anxious and needed to be close to her, enough to know she was safe while I kept an eye on her.

God damn it, Haze…now you got me feeling fucking paranoid.

I pulled out my phone, smoking yet another cigarette as I scrolled through my photos.

Not only had I saved a ton from her social media, but I’d also screenshotted a couple from her cam sessions.

Though my favorite photos were the ones we took together over the last couple days.

Ones capturing the ways I’ve fucked her…

over the edge of her rose-colored couch, on top of her coffee table, against the hall wall, and a few of us tangled in her bed together.

She’s so fucking perfect.

I took a long drag, swiping left and onto a short clip we filmed during the night.

The still image showing her on her knees made me tingle, her cheeks heavily flushed as she looked up at me with watery eyes, her mouth extended wide and salivating all over my dick.

My thumb hovered over the phone, then I pressed play.

The sounds of her choking and gagging immediately surrounded me and I was instantly hard.

I would’ve kept watching, but a group of women stumbled out the back of the club, laughing loudly and clearly drunk.

Fuck…not now.

I turned my screen off and shoved my phone into my pocket, pretending I wasn’t burdened with a god damn boner. The women all eyed me weirdly as I awkwardly waved, quickly turning away from them and facing the bike, trying to make my dick go down.

Thank god for this fucking helmet.

I slammed the visor down and dropped my head as I leaned against the motorcycle. The back door to the club opened once more, only this time it was the owner and one of the club bouncers, stepping out for what looked like a smoke break. I looked back towards The Red Eye, feeling a bit anxious.

Why hasn’t she come out yet? She’s normally done by now.

“Hey.” I snapped my visor up as I walked toward them, picking up my pace. “Where is she?”

He made a confused face. “Where is who?”

I rolled my eyes. “Dream. You know, DJ Cottontail?” He stared blankly. “The woman with the white hair.”

“Oh! Oh, yes! Her!” He grinned. “Very talented young woman, that Danika. The club’s been busy as could be since we hired her on. As a matter of fact—”

I groaned, feeling too impatient. “Yeah, that’s great and all, but where is she?”

I don’t have time for this shit.

We both looked around the empty lot as he shrugged. “Uhh…she must’ve hitched a ride home or something.”

“A ride home? With who?”

The bouncer stepped forward. “Dream? You mean Danika? Tall, pale woman with white hair?” I nodded. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure she took off with some guy earlier. He was driving a white Challenger and went…that way.” He pointed in the direction of Dream’s apartment.

My hands balled into fists at my side. “Who was the guy?” My face was beginning to burn from how angry I was becoming. “Well? Does he have a name, or should I just beat one out of you?”

The two men exchanged a concerned look before the owner cleared his throat. “We’d love to stay and help but we don’t know anything else. We—we should get back to work.” He hurried the bouncer through the club’s back door as they ran back inside.

A white Challenger, huh? Should be easy enough to find.

I pulled my phone out and swiped up, tapping her number. “Come on,” I groaned, and the number dialed. “Pick up. Pick up—”

The phone immediately went to voicemail, playing that stupid fucking message. “The person you are trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up. Please—”

I hung up and redialed, getting the same message again and again.

I swiped and opened another app, typing her number in as I tried to search her location.

“Now, where are you?” Within seconds, an error message popped up, stating the program was unable to locate her phone.

“What the hell?” I felt immediate dread, wondering if she was okay.

Where the hell are you, Dream?

I jumped onto my motorcycle and took off, driving in the direction the bouncer had mentioned.

White Challenger…White Challenger.

I scanned every vehicle, searching for her as I sped carefully through traffic on the highway.

White Challenger.

Minutes ticked by and there was still no sign of her or that damn car.

White Challenger…fuck!

I slowed down, coming to a red light. “Where the hell are you?” The light was taking forever to change, and wasting my fucking time.

“Come on,” I groaned. “Come on!” I slammed my palm against the handlebar, growing more and more angry with each passing second.

“Fuck this!” I revved the bike and took off, running the red as I dodged oncoming traffic.

I weaved through cars, giving no fucks about cutting them off as I sped further down the road.

It wasn’t too long before I noticed a white Challenger up ahead.

Bingo.

I sped up, chasing after it.

It took maybe a minute or two before I’d caught up to the car.

My head turned as I tried to peek through the windows, searching for her.

But I had no luck. “Damn it!” I took off, driving further out, looking at what felt like hundreds of vehicles until I had finally reached her street.

And as I turned onto it, I immediately noticed a second white Challenger, parked across from her building.

What the hell?
