Felix

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The odd, rhythmic sound slowly woke me from a strange, cold darkness.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

My head ached, tingling as life returned to my body, prickling like pins and needles. It slowly thawed its way through my veins, pain and agony surging through my limbs. “Dream…” I whispered her name, reaching out into the darkness, searching for her. “Dream…Dream!”

I shot up, my head spinning. “Fuck,” I groaned. Everything fucking hurt. “Dream…what—”

“Felix.”

I peeled my eyes open to see Haze and Indigo, standing to my side. “What…ahh!” I looked around, realizing where I was. And that’s when it hit me. “Dream!”

“Easy.” Haze gently pushed me back as I laid down on the hospital bed. “She’s not here, hermano.”

“I-I don’t understand. Where is she? Where is Danika!” Immense dread filled every inch of my body as I tried to make my brain work. I glanced down at my battered body, realizing how lucky I was to be alive.

The twins exchanged a look as Indigo stepped forward, gently gripping my broken hand. “Felix…when Haze arrived at the warehouse…Kief and his men—”

“Where is she?” I asked desperately.

Indigo jumped at my heated words. “Dream wasn’t there, Felix.” She held back tears as my own fell. “She wasn’t there.”

“No.” I shook my head hysterically. “No…No! She was still alive!” I turned to my brother. “You have to find her. Haze!”

“We already did.” We all turned to see Hui standing in the doorway. He was wearing his usual moody-blue, layered robe, his long hair partially tied up as he walked into the hospital room and stopped at the foot of my bed.

I swallowed, surprised to see him. “Where is she? Where is Dream?”
