Chapter 7
SEVEN
KNOX
She’s timid and keeps her arms wrapped tightly around her body, her way of protecting herself—to have some semblance of control.
Candy keeps her distance from me as we walk back down to the basement.
Her uncertainty is warranted considering the circumstances.
She could have run, could have told me not to do this, could have pleaded for this fuckers life like a lot of women would.
But she didn’t. Instead, she looked at me with crystal clear eyes and did not even flinch when I told her I was going to end her boyfriend's life.
There's something dark inside of her lurking just beneath the surface, and I want to set that darkness free.
The large metal door slams closed behind me, startling Jason into an upright position.
He glares at me, his hatred present from the first moment he laid eyes on me.
But when he looks at Candy, it’s more than disgust that I see.
It’s a sense of possession. He thinks that he owns her, and that doesn’t fucking work for me.
“Hey, shit head,” I snap my fingers in front of his face, bringing his attention back to me.
“This is how it’s gonna go. I’m going to ask questions, and you’re going to answer.
No bullshit or beating around the bush. If you refuse to answer, I’ll start plucking off your fingernails and shove them down your gullet, understood? ”
“Fuck you.” He spits, but his words don’t land. A giddiness ignites inside of me for the fun I’m going to have tearing this fucker to shreds.
CANDACE
Knox smiles, and it sends a chill down my spine. He walks over to the tray of tools and picks up a tiny set of pliers. His eyes lock onto mine.
“I hope you're not squeamish.”
My breath hitches as I watch the man tread over to Jason, grab one of his hands and rip his thumbnail off in one swift pull, dropping it into an empty jar on the tray. Jason screams, the sound so brutal and ear-piercing that my hands fly up to shield my hearing. Blood sprays from his finger.
I’ve watched enough horror films in my life that you’d think stuff like this wouldn’t bother me.
But the screams… the screams of pure torture and fear are bone chilling when it’s the real thing.
Tears spring to my eyes, not out of sympathy for what is happening to Jason, but from a fight or flight response that is triggered within my body with the sound of his booming voice throughout the room.
Knox clicks his tongue. “Now that's an awful way to start this off, don’t you think?”
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Jason shouts, and Knox grabs ahold of his other hand and pulls off his other thumbnail.
“I’m the one asking the questions here, Jace. Can I call you Jace? I’m going to call you Jace.”
I don't think I’ve ever seen Jason cry. Never once shedding a tear or having any emotional response to anything. Yet here before me, swaying from his chains, is a man whimpering and blubbering incoherent words, begging for his freedom.
Why haven’t I run yet? I’m standing here staring at the bloody mess before me.
I should be scared. Shouldn’t I? I should want to save him.
Right? Through his tears, I can feel the heat of his stare, a silent promise that when he does get free, he will come for me.
I either need to make sure I’m far away from here if that moment ever comes, or make sure it never happens at all.
Walking across the concrete basement, I grab a folding chair and drag it to the center of the room, sitting directly across from Jason, giving myself a front row seat to his demise.
“She’s just some bitch man! Just take her! I don’t give a fuck! If you want her pussy so bad, just fucking have at her, she’s fucking dried up!”
Once again, I see red. “Is that all I am to you? Some bitch?”
Jason spits on the ground, “You’re nothing to me. You’re a fucking headache if anything.”
I stand from my chair and walk over to Knox, removing the pliers from his hands and placing a palm over his chest. My eyes never leave Jason’s as I stroke my hand down Knox’s hard body, feeling every curve of his toned core.
I flick my gaze up to meet his eyes, and what I see causes my breath to hitch.
He’s drinking me in, like he’s hungry for my touch, as if we’re not in a room with my ex chained up before us.
“Do you think I’m dry, Knox?” I use my best seductive voice. I see his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he swallows the lump in his throat.
“Would you like me to find out, Sweetness?” He smiles, and I nod, heat rushing to my cheeks. Something about the way this man looks at me makes me feel as confident as ever in my skin. “You know what you’re doing, Candy?” He whispers, his voice deep and deliciously dark.
Shaking my head, my lips part, leaning into him slightly. “Not even a little bit,” I whisper in his ear.
I tilt my head back, peering into his eyes from beneath my lashes.
I watch his eyes roam over the features on my face, landing upon my lips.
His tongue slides across his lower lip as I lean forward and press my mouth against his.
His hand snakes around my waist, pulling my body closer as his other hand threads through my hair.
Our kiss is frantic and needy, like I’ve been desperate for air and he’s the only one left alive who can supply my oxygen.
His hand slides from my waist and grips my ass, hoisting me up and wrapping my legs around him.
We break our kiss, only for a moment, when we hear Jason’s obnoxious cussing from across the room.
Knox smirks deviously and pushes me against the back wall of the basement.
The cool sensation from the stones causes a gasp to leave my lips as I wrap my arms tighter around Knox’s throat.
He nips and sucks on my neck while sliding his hand down the curve of my hips and finds the hem of my pink panties.
Without hesitation, he moves the fabric to the side and inserts two fingers inside of me, causing my back to arch.
I grind my pussy roughly against his hand.
“Oh god, Knox!” I cry out, my whimpers fueling him to keep going.
“You’re fucking dead to me, you stupid bitch,” are the words I hear from across the room, but they don’t faze me.
I lock eyes with Jason over Knox’s shoulder while Knox’s fingers plunge deeper into my center, bringing me to release.
My head rolls back against the wall as I come against his palm, a satisfied smile forming on my lips as I cry out Knox’s name.
