Chapter 12
CHAPTER TWELVE
LUKE
I wake with a hard-on to the smell of something familiar and a warm, soft body up against mine. There’s a licking on my neck, causing my eyes to dart open to find Vix’s face. I look down and find myself spooning Dei. I’d move, but she’s holding my arm that’s wrapped around her.
Vix moves away, allowing me to enjoy the moment.
“Vix,” Dei whines, rotating toward me. Her eyes suddenly pop open.
“Morning,” I greet as our faces are within inches of each other.
Deidre’s eyes dart around as if she’s trying to assess the situation. “Why were you spooning me?”
“I would have moved, but you had a strong hold on my arm.”
She carefully rolls away, stretching as Vix jumps excitedly around the bed. “I’ll let you take care of that while I take Vix out.”
“Take care of what?”
An amused expression appears on her face as her eyes drift down to my groin.
I don’t comment, covering my bulge with the blankets while enjoying the view of her as she grabs her bag and heads into the bathroom. Two minutes later, she emerges. My morning wood stiffens at the sight of her in tight workout clothes.
“I’ll be about twenty minutes,” she informs. “Is that enough time for you?”
“Should be,” I laugh timidly.
How can she be so brisk and nonchalant about sex?
“Where are your keys?”
“On the counter.”
“Have fun,” she teases, leaving the bedroom.
As soon as I hear the door close, I quickly rub one off before getting in the shower, checking the time to make it so I can hopefully be getting out right around the time she said she’d be back.
I end up thinking about her while washing which forces me to I have to beat off a second time.
Well, if there is a chance for us to hook up, at least I know I’ll be good to perform, and a towel will be the only thing I need to remove.
Opening the bathroom door, I’m disappointed when I don’t see her.
Suddenly, I hear Vix’s feet across the wooden floor.
She turns a corner, and I find her headed right for me.
“Hey, cutie.” I pick Vix up. “Dei?”
“Out here,” she replies.
I look around the living room and find her a few seconds later on the ground.
“Just finishing stretching,” she comments with her back turned towards me.
“No problem.” I take the opportunity to stare at her ass. As soon as she spins, my eyes dart up to her face.
Dei’s eyes widen.
“Everything okay?” I ask.
“Yeah.”
“I’m done in there,” I comment.
“Don’t you need to get dressed?” she asks with her eyes drifting slightly down to the towel that’s wrapped around my hips.
“I can do that while you’re in the shower.”
“Okay,” she replies, quick to move in that direction.
I take several controlled breaths before getting dressed. My dick gets hard at the thought of her naked with only a wall between us. Fuck! This is going to be harder than I thought to keep it just friendly.
Focus, man. Breakfast, I should make breakfast. What should I make? I find eggs and a few other options and get to work, hoping it’ll keep my thoughts away from how desperate I am to to fuck my best friend’s sister.
“You know how to cook?” Dei questions coming from the bedroom with a towel wrapped around her and another in her hand as she dries her hair.
I can’t help but stare. “Yeah.”
“I’m impressed. Last time you tried to cook, you burnt everything,” she says with a smile before closing the bedroom door.
“That was eleven years ago,” I reply loud enough for her to hear me.
After breakfast, Dei insists on cleaning up while instructing me to change and pack some extra clothes for the day. I try to find out what she has planned, but she won’t give me a hint other than to make sure I either wear or bring a bathing suit.
By ten, we’re being escorted by Tony into Malibu for paddleboarding.
I’ve never been, but Dei was spot on to pick an outdoor activity.
I’ve always liked sports and even played soccer when I was little through high school.
Vix has fun relaxing at the front of Dei’s board as we roam around the water.
I get distracted a few times by seeing Dei wearing nothing but a bikini—enough to cause me to fall off my board twice.
She did try to knock me off a third time with her paddle, but she lost, causing her and Vix to take a swim instead.
For lunch, we’re at a local restaurant enjoying some seafood. Her phone vibrates quite a bit, but she seems to ignore it. I’m sure it has something to do with Tony’s statements from yesterday. I hope she doesn’t get in trouble, but from the way she’s acting, it should be fine.
As we leave the restaurant, Dei asks what kind of mood I’m in to decide the rest of the day’s plans.
I tell her I’m up for anything, which I am.
I haven't had this much fun in a while. Back in Santa Monica, we rent bikes and ride around town with Vix chilling in a basket.
Dei shows me around the town. We even make it down into parts of Venice.
After dinner, we take a stroll on the beach and head to the pier. It’s been a long while since I’ve played any boardwalk games or been on any rides. Sometime later, I spot Tony watching from a distance.
“What kind of security does Tony provide?”
“What?” Dei chokes.
“I know he’s here.” I carefully point him out.
“I’ve had a few minor cases of weirdos because of the app,” she reveals. “Nothing big. He’s meant to be here and not be seen.”
“Was he at the wedding?”
Dei lowers her head. “Yeah.”
“You know you’re safe with me, right?”
She giggles. “He’s not here because he thinks you’re crazy.”
“I know. I just meant?—”
“I know,” Dei cuts in. “How about some ice cream?”
“Sure,” I agree, following after her when she moves away.
We take a seat on the beach as we continue to eat our dessert. The sun starts to set, and I’m less thrilled about having to go home. We relax on the sand as Vix runs around us, fetching her ball when Deidre or I throw it.
Some time after we’ve finished our ice cream, I get the balls to ask, “Hey, Dei.”
“Hey, yeah,” she returns, laughing at Vix.
“Do you mind if I ask something?”
“Shoot,” she encourages.
I clear my throat, nervous to pose my question.
“Uh oh,” she teases.
“What?”
“This is something serious,” she comments, shifting to look right at me.
“What do you mean?”
“Whenever you clear your throat like that right after saying something, that means that you’re being serious,” she explains.
“It’s not serious.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” I chuckle nervously. “I….”
“Just ask,” she directs. “I promise I’ll listen and answer honestly.”
I force out a breath to gain the courage. “I was just wondering what you meant when you told me that I was your first kiss, but not your first kiss .”
Deidre doesn’t say anything as she studies me.
“Well?” I ask nervously.
“It’s…it’s easier if I just show you.”
“Wha…” before I get the word out, her small, soft hands are on my cheeks, pulling my face toward hers. Our lips lock, and my body shifts closer. When she releases my lips, my body follows, needing more.
“That is a kiss,” she states. “You were my first when I freaked out on Kevin and Carl for making fun of me. The second time was when I jumped out of that tree. The time after that was after I lost my shit when I overheard the girls at school talking about Dad and Mom.”
“That was my first kiss, too,” I share, leaning to get another, but she pulls back.
“And this…this is a kiss ,” she says seductively, guiding my lips back to hers.
Our mouths connect again in a less forced fashion, lingering like they don’t want to pull apart.
Her lips break from mine temporarily, only to come back slightly opened this time.
My right hand lifts, cupping her cheek as the other pulls her closer.
Dei’s mouth opens, gliding her tongue gently against the length of my bottom lip.
As her tongue reaches in a little further, mine happily greets it.
My dick hardens as if it’s about to burst and I groan into her mouth, not wanting the moment to end.
Dei’s body relaxes more, letting me pull her closer.
A little moan escapes her mouth when my fingers brush the skin along her hip.
We continue our embrace for quite some time, or at least I think so.
“That’s a kiss ,” she announces suddenly, breaking the embrace.
I lean in, wanting to taste more of her, but she denies me, pressing her forehead against mine. She pushes to get away, but I manage to steal a small kiss.
“Does that help?” she asks, sounding very controlled and unaffected by our embrace.
“Yeah,” I huff, still awestruck by how good it felt to touch her.
“Good.” Dei grabs her stuff and walks away.
It takes me a second to realize what’s happening. “Hey,” I call, jogging up to her a few seconds later.
“Hey,” she returns as if what just happened didn’t.
“Where are you going?”
“I should get home. It’s getting late and you have a flight in the morning.”
I go to protest, but I’m getting an odd vibe from her as if she’s uncomfortable with something I did. It’s not until we’re back in the apartment that I get the guts to ask her.
“What do you mean?” Dei asks as she continues to pack her bags.
“I mean….” My brain shuts off, not knowing what to say.
When I don’t continue, Dei inquires, “You mean the kiss?”
“Yeah.”
“No,” she replies, picking right back up with where she left off with packing.
“Dei.”
“What?” she asks softly as she tries not to look at me.
My eyes beg her to talk to me.
“It was just a kiss.”
“Right,” I say, not wanting to press the topic. “Um…does Tony know to be ready with the car?”
“Yeah. I texted him when we were walking back.”
“Okay,” I mumble, scratching my head. “I’ll walk you down.”
We’re quiet the whole way to the entrance of the building. I’m starting to think that it’s not just me who is confused about that kiss.
“Congratulations again,” Dei says, breaking the ice as Tony opens the door for her.
“Thanks,” I reply, hesitantly stepping toward her.
“I’m sure your dad’s proud.”
“Yeah,” I mumble, still unsure of what’s going on.
“See ya in another eleven years?” she laughs nervously.
“I hope not that long.”
“Well, give me a call next time you’re in town,” Dei says. “Depending on my schedule, I’m sure we’ll be able to have lunch or something.”
“Really?”
She’s turning what just happened into nothing. How did we go from kissing to maybe having lunch if she’s free?
“Yeah. We’re friends, right?” she asks.
How the fuck am I already back in the friend zone?
“Right,” I agree as dread sinks in. I step in to kiss her cheek and we get caught up in a weird hug kind of thing.
“Have a safe flight,” she says.
“Text me when you get home.”
