~Chapter 31~
S tu always knows how to pull me from my head. As I leave his room, in nothing more than a towel, I mentally prepare myself for the night.
Tonight, we all get freaking revenge. And, one way or another, I’m sending these Crimson Knights straight to Hell.
I pad toward Danny and Even’s room, since that's where I’ve been keeping my clothes. I can’t stand to be within three feet of my old room after what happened with Charlie and I refuse to go down there until we're through with these jerkoffs.
I’m still sore but, I’m doing a lot better. However, putting on tight, black jeans is still no easy feat. My leg is giving me more problems than I wish to care about, but I keep that to myself.
After I finish dressing, making sure I pull on a black hoodie over my Kevlar, since nothing else would cover it, I slide on some black combat boots the guys have had me training in. They’re big and bulky but, kinda cute actually.
Not that I need to worry about that right now but, hey, a girl’s gotta feel some type of way before going out and handing grown men their own behinds.
I brush out my hair before putting it into a high, messy bun. Then I gallop down the stairs before finding the others in the living room.
With a wide grin, I look over my sexy as-sin men, all in black, and take a deep cleansing breath.
“Alright. Let's do this.” I announce. For some reason, they're allowing me to take point on this little, ok big, operation.
I turn on my heel to head to the garage.
Halfway there, I suddenly stop and turn. Marching over to each of them, I slam my mouth against theirs; demanding, punishing, passionately. Each one tries to lengthen the kiss but I break away and move on before they can; despite The hilarious protests from Danny.
Turning back around, we head for the SUV. Even and Danny are in front, while Stu and I climb into the back.
After another weapons check, we pull out of the garage and drive into the night.
The car is filled with silence, and I take a moment to remember the events that led us here- to finally finding the Crimson Knights’ clubhouse... And to, hopefully, ending them tonight.
Charlie’s heart stops beating underneath my ear. I feel it. I know it.
I tried CPR for longer than necessary but I just couldn’t apply enough pressure because of my stupid cast.
At some point, Doc had come in. I couldn’t hear him or see him. I was completely engrossed in trying to revive Charlie.
Someone grabbed me around my waist and carried me screaming from the room. At the time, I didn’t know it was Even. Heck, I didn’t know it was him until he flopped me onto his bed and locked us in the room.
Then, I beat the crap out of him. Well, as much as I could.
Have you ever tried pounding a brick wall? No? Well, it hurts. Bad.
Eventually, he wraps his arms around me and collapses with me to the floor. He lets me cry, lets part of my soul die, and just lets me feel.
I remember waking up sometime later in their bed…alone. Then it hit me. There was another man.
I ran as fast as I could, almost falling down the dang stairs. I blamed my cast but, really, I shouldn’t have been moving that quickly. I knew better. I just didn't care.
I needed to get to the basement.
I was more than relieved that Danny had Stu set up my biometric information in the system after our first date.
Once the door opened, I dang near hopped down the steps, until Danny and Franco came into view.
Franco.
Franco had definitely seen better days. His left eye was completely swollen shut and it looked like he was drooling a long line of blood, instead of spit. His clothes were torn and tattered from what looked like knife slashes.
Actually, he looked like he’d been in a slasher flick…as the victim.
Once his eyes locked on mine, though, I knew: he was no longer Danny’s victim. Nope, he was mine.
It took me less than ten minutes to get the information we needed. While Danny got a lot of information about shipments, plans, and things like that, I only had one question that I needed an answer too: where does the boss stay?
By the time I was finished, he had one missing eye, thanks to a tomato corer and scooper, no finger or toenails, and three needles stuck through his ballsack.
Through and through.
After the third one went in one side, and out the other, he finally talked.
I stood up, turned on my heel, and headed out.
My next stop was finding Doc. He needed to cut these dang casts off so I could head over to their Knight’s little hidey hole and kill every last one of them.
Of course, Doc made me wait until after we got another X-ray and made me promise to do the exercise regimens to rebuild the muscles.
Then, the jerks I call my boyfriends made me wait for a “plan”. Said I couldn’t just go in like Kill Bill and start slaughtering people. I rolled my eyes, but eventually gave in.
Now, we’re on our way to finally dole out some vengeance. My heart is still broken, but anger has been a great substitute for sadness.
I’m sure that will change once we’re finished. So, until then, I’m riding the anger wave as far as it lets me.
Danny turns around to face me, passing me an earcom with a sly grin and a wink. I raise my brow in question but put the comm in without a word.
Looking over at Stu, he’s also smirking at me like he knows something I don’t.
“OK, out with it. What’s so funny?” Even chuckles before he presses his comm into his own ear at a red light.
“Bravo on.” Danny and Stu follow up with “Tango on,” and “Delta on.” Taking my cue, I respond, “Omega on.”
Closing my eyes, I breathe deeply and roll my shoulders.
Right before I hear, “Alpha on.”
Air backs up into my lungs and my eyes feel as wide as small tea plates. “Ch- Um, Alpha?”
I feel a lone tear slide down my face as I swallow a lump that’s formed in my throat.
“Hey, Omega. Kick some ass for me, yeah?” His voice is gravelly and pained, but, it’s him. It’s my Charlie.
“Wh-when? How long? Turn around! We need to go home!”
Even’s eyes meet mine in the rearview as Danny turns to me with a soft, reassuring smile. Stu grabs my hand, causing me to turn and face him. “He’s ok. Doc’s with him. He woke up this afternoon while you were in the gym. But, he didn’t want you to know yet. He’s awake. His vitals are good, but he needed more rest. And, we knew you’d want to be with him but, the best place for you is right here with us while he gets some rest.”
Anger at them, and excitement for Charlie, battle each other in my head and my heart.
“Hey, Omega.” Charlie’s voice shivers down my spine and tingles in my tone.
“Yes, Alpha.” I murmur like a well and truly chastised child.
“Ready for your ‘Go’ song?”
“M-My ‘Go’ song? What do you mean?”
A round of low chuckles fills the comms as I look between the three in the vehicle with me; completely perplexed.
“Yes, Omega. Your ‘Go’ song. You’re running point.” With a wide smile, I feel my heart beating with gratitude and, dare I say, love.
“Ok. Let’s do this.”
As soon as I finish, the first line of American Horror Show by Snow Wife.
And, my smile turns into a devilish grin.
