Krissy

M y nerves were all over the place. Today, Halo finally gets to meet my boyfriend and I couldn’t wait. I valued her opinion. If she felt like something was off about him, then I was gon’ have to find it in me to leave him alone.

All morning, I had been tossing my room in search of something to wear. He’d been out of town and touched down in the middle of last night. Once our little meeting was over, I was kidnapping him and holding him hostage in the house for the next couple of days, just fucking his brains out.

Stepping up to the floor-length mirror, I took in my appearance. My hair fell down my back in huge curls. The dress I decided on was this chocolate, backless mini dress that went well with my complexion. I paired it with a cute pair of black pumps.

Grinning, I stepped away from the mirror and grabbed my purse. I rushed out the door when I saw that it was going on three thirty. I was supposed to meet them at Gold Rosé by four. Hitting the fob on my truck, I got in and backed out the driveway. My phone chimed. I grabbed it and saw that it was a message from bae.

I can’t wait to see you. I miss you so much.

As if my grin couldn’t get any bigger, it grew wider. He just didn’t know how much I missed him. I was about to turn that man every which way but loose.

It didn’t take me long to make it to the restaurant. I parked and got out the car. I didn’t spot neither one of their cars in the parking lot, so I went inside to grab us a table.

“How many?” the hostess asked.

“Three,” I replied.

“Okay.” She gathered the menus and stepped from behind the podium. I followed her to a table and sat down facing the door so that they both could see me when they came in.

“Can I start you off with something to drink?” she asked with a polite smile.

“Yeah. Can I have some Patrón on the rocks?” I needed something to calm my bubbling nerves.

“Okay. Your drink will be out shortly,” she said and left the table.

I picked up my phone and scrolled Facebook ’til I heard, “Hey.” I looked up and Halo was getting comfortable at the table in front of me.

“Hey.” She sat there with what looked like the world resting on her shoulders. She’d come out the house in a t-shirt and some jeans. I asked, “Are you okay?”

“You’ll never believe this. Joker just almost killed my daddy.”

“Are you serious?”

“Yes, he thought I was sleeping with him.” She shook her head.

“That’s wild.”

“I know, right? I don’t know what I’m gon’ do about him.”

“From the looks of it, you’re stuck with his crazy ass.” She rolled her eyes.

“Here’s your drink. I’m Kayla. I’ll be your server today.” She turned and looked at Halo. “Can I get you started with something to drink?”

“A water is fine,” she said and picked up the menu.

“Are you guys ready to order?”

“No. Can you give us a second? We’re waiting on one more person.”

“Okay. I’ll be back with your water.”

I looked back at Halo and that’s when I realized he walked through the door. When I say this man was so fucking fine, he was fine as hell. The corners of my mouth quirked when I saw him swagger toward me. I jumped up from the table, not even being able to contain my excitement to see him. I ran over and jumped up in his arms. “I missed you so much,” I said and planted a kiss on his lips.

He planted me back down on my feet and I pulled him over to the table where Halo was scrolling on her phone. “Halo, I want you to meet my boyfriend, Bronx. Bronx, this is my best friend, Halo.”

Halo looked up from her phone and it dropped to the table. “Joker!”
