CHAPTER 1 #4
Denise slowly peeled off her maroon top, revealing her full, heavy breasts—dark, firm, and tipped with wide, deep-brown nipples that were already tight from the air conditioning.
She reached down and slid her leggings off, stepping out of them with a smooth, unhurried grace that showed off the long, incredible curve of her thighs, her wide hips, and a neat, dark triangle of hair above her lap that was damp with sweat.
Monique’s throat went dry as a bone. She’d seen women in the locker room every day for five years, but looking at Denise wasn't like looking at anyone else.
Denise looked like a sculpture made out of brown butter and steel—thick where a woman should be thick, smooth where she was soft, and completely unashamed of the space her body occupied.
Denise caught Monique staring and didn't make any move to cover herself with a towel. Instead, she took a step toward the center aisle, her heavy hips swaying slightly with each step.
"Damn," Denise said softly, her eyes dropping down to the curve of Monique’s rear in her black shorts. "Every time I see your body in these tights, I get jealous."
Monique let out a shaky, breathless laugh, reaching back to unhook her own bra. "Don't start with me, Denise. Look at you. You look like a damn model."
"I used to do a little," Denise said, stepping closer until she was standing just three feet away, her body completely bare, her chocolate skin radiant under the lights. "For a local boutique over on Avenue of Fashion. Swimwear and winter coats, mostly. You looked me up, didn't you?"
Monique’s face heated up instantly. "Maybe I did. Maybe I searched your name on Instagram while I was waiting for my legal studies class."
"It’s okay," Denise murmured, her voice dropping into a deep, smooth purr that vibrated right through Monique’s chest. "I’m not shy about it. Shower with me?"
The shower room was a long, tiled hall with eight stalls separated by low marble dividers that reached only to shoulder height, with short, translucent plastic curtains that didn't hide much.
They turned on two adjacent nozzles, the hot water blasting out in heavy, stinging jets that filled the room with thick clouds of white steam.
At first, they stayed in their own stalls, the water washing away the salt and sweat of the workout.
They talked over the roar of the spray about small, meaningless things—their schedules for next semester, a professor in the sociology department who always smelled like stale coffee and cigars, how Detroit winters made everybody mean by November.
Then Denise stepped out from behind her curtain.
She was dripping wet, her long locs slicked back over her shoulders, water pooling in the deep hollow above her collarbones and running in steady streams down the heavy swell of her breasts. She held a black mesh loofah in one hand and a bottle of coconut-scented body wash in the other.
"Hey," Denise said, her voice carrying through the steam like a bell. "Let me scrub your back. You can't reach between those shoulder blades properly after all those cable rows."
Monique’s heart slammed against her ribs like a trapped bird. "Yeah," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "Okay."
Denise stepped into Monique’s stall. The small space, barely four feet square, instantly felt impossibly crowded.
The heat from the water was nothing compared to the heat coming off Denise’s skin as she stepped behind Monique, squeezed a generous dollop of coconut wash onto the loofah, and brought it down against Monique’s shoulders.
The pressure was firm and deliberate. Denise worked the lather into Monique’s skin, her long fingers massaging the tight muscles along her neck, moving down the curve of her spine to the top of her hips.
Monique braced both her palms flat against the cold, wet tiles of the wall, her head hanging low, her eyes closed as a deep, involuntary shiver ran through her frame.
"You keep talking about how fine I am," Denise murmured, her breath hot and wet against the back of Monique’s ear as she leaned in close, "but being this close to you... looking at this frame up close... I see why every guy on this campus gets dumb when you walk by."
Monique swallowed hard, her throat tight. "They look at you more."
"Do you like it?" Denise asked, her hands sliding off the loofah, her bare palms slick with lather as she smoothed them down Monique’s sides, over the curve of her waist, and rested them on the broad, heavy swell of Monique’s hips. "When they look?"
"I’m gay, Denise," Monique said, her voice shaking slightly as Denise’s thumbs dug gently into the small dimples above her buttocks. "I’ve been gay since I was twelve. So no... I don't give a fuck about them looking. But... it’s different when it’s you."
Denise’s hands stilled on Monique’s waist. For three long seconds, the only sound was the heavy thrum of the shower water hitting the floor drain.
"I know," Denise whispered.
She pulled Monique backward slightly until Monique’s back was pressed flat against Denise’s wet, soft chest. Monique could feel the heavy, firm weight of Denise’s breasts against her shoulder blades, the rapid, hard thud of Denise’s heart, and the slick, burning heat of Denise’s belly pressing into her lower back.
Monique turned around in the stall, her back coming against the wet tile wall, her wet braids clinging to her cheeks. Denise didn't step back. She stood right there, inches away, her dark eyes wide and full of an intense, unreadable hunger that made Monique’s breath catch in her chest.
"What are you doing, Richards?" Monique managed to ask, her hand coming up to rest against Denise’s wet collarbone, her fingers trembling slightly.
"I think you know exactly what I’m doing, Gray," Denise said softly.
She stepped closer, closing the last remaining space between them until their wet breasts pressed together, nipple to nipple, skin to skin, the slick water creating a suction between their bodies.
Denise reached down, her hand catching Monique’s hip and pulling her forward until the soft, hot mound of Denise’s pussy pressed directly against Monique’s own wet, aching friction.
Denise leaned down, her lips brushing Monique’s jaw, her breath sweet and hot. Monique held her back with a hand flat against Denise’s chest, her pulse roaring like a freight train in her ears.
"Wait," Monique choked out, her eyes searching Denise’s face through the falling water. "Please tell me you’re not one of those confused straight girls from the dorms who just wants to try some shit because she had two shots of tequila and got bored on a Tuesday night."
Denise stopped. Her eyes didn't flicker. Her grip on Monique’s hip remained firm, steady, and grounding.
"I’m not confused about a damn thing," Denise said, her voice dropping into a clear, quiet tone that sounded like absolute truth. "When I was eighteen, I had a girlfriend for almost a year back in high school. Her name was Maya. After we broke up, it was mostly men because that was who was around, and because when you’re modeling, that’s what everybody expects from you.
I stopped calling myself anything because it was easier not to have the conversation with my auntie.
But then I saw you outside the library three weeks ago, holding your books like they were weapons, looking at the world like you were ready to fight it all by yourself... and it wasn't easy to pretend anymore."
Monique stared at her, her breath coming short. "What about... are you seeing somebody?"
"I was," Denise said without hesitation. "A guy from the track team. Ended it two weeks ago. Clean and done. I wasn't gonna step to you until I was completely free, Monique. I don't play with people’s hearts, and I don't let nobody play with mine."
Denise’s thumb slid up to trace the dark, slick line of Monique’s lower lip.
"I like you. I’ve liked you since the second day I saw you in this gym.
And I think you like me, too. If I’m wrong...
say the word right now. Tell me to go back to my stall, and I’ll step back, and we can be gym partners, and I’ll never bring it up again. "
Monique looked at Denise’s mouth—the soft, wide lips wet with shower water, the dimple hovering at the corner of her cheek, the open, honest waiting in her eyes.
Monique didn't say a word.
She grabbed Denise by the back of her wet neck, pulled her down, and kissed her.
The kiss was hot, wet, and desperate from the very first second—a collision of teeth, tongues, and months of unacknowledged tension finally snapping wide open under the roar of the shower.
Monique pulled Denise in until there was no air left between them, her tongue sliding deep into Denise’s mouth, tasting the clean, minty sweetness of her breath and the faint salt of her skin.
Denise let out a low, ragged moan into Monique’s mouth, her long arms wrapping around Monique’s waist, her fingers digging deep into the heavy, soft flesh of Monique’s ass, lifting her slightly off the floor and pressing their wet pussies hard together.
Monique pushed Denise back against the far wall of the stall, her hands roaming wildly over Denise’s wet body—over the broad expanse of her back, down the dramatic curve of her waist, gripping her wide, muscular hips with a ferocity that made Denise gasp for air.
"Fuck, Monique," Denise whimpered against her lips, her head thumping back against the tile. "Your hands... you’re so strong..."
Monique dropped her hand between their slick bodies, her fingers searching through the wet darkness between Denise’s thighs. She found Denise’s pussy—wide, soft, plump, and already running with a thick, sticky heat that was completely distinct from the shower water streaming down their legs.
Monique slid two fingers down the length of Denise’s wet folds, spreading the dark, soft hair and pressing her thumb directly onto the hard, swollen center of her clit.
