Chapter 29
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Two months later
Delaney
Standing outside the prison, I feel nervous. It looks like such a normal building, but inside, I know there are prisoners.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Tank asks.
I look up at him. “Every month until he is released. I don’t care what is going on. Acid will not be doing this alone.”
He nods. “Then let’s not make him wait.”
He’s right. I should get used to this. I won’t let him down. Not after what he is doing for me.
With my hand in his, we walk up to the gate.
We have to get buzzed through two separate checkpoints before we get to the metal detectors.
Tank prepared me for this, so I have nothing that can be taken away, but watching the others in front of us getting angry over things they have to put up is wild. I’m glad I was told what to expect.
After a pat-down from a female officer who looks like she might have sucked a lemon, we are led to a large room with several tables. The officer in charge tells us where to sit as everyone fills the room. Then the inmates are brought in one by one.
My heart breaks as I see Acid being led in with shackles on his wrists and ankles. He smiles when he sees us, waiting as he is cuffed to the table. Then he takes a seat.
“You guys didn’t have to come. I’m doing great.”
I frown. “Get used to seeing my face. I plan to visit a lot. You aren’t having any trouble, are you? You haven’t been shanked?”
I whisper the last part, making both him and Tank chuckle.
“No. It’s not like the movies. Sure, that stuff happens, but not as often as you think. I’m fine. I keep to myself. My roommate is decent and is in for a crime I can tolerate. The lawyer did his best, and the warden is keeping the promises the DA made. You don’t have to worry about me. Honestly.”
“I will worry. I owe you a lot. I put five hundred on your commissary. Did you get it?”
Tank turns to me, surprised. “You did? You don’t have to do that.”
Acid shakes his head, a smile on his face. “Yes, and the two thousand the club put on there too. I’m good. I don’t need anything else. Warden says I’ll get assigned a job soon. I haven’t decided which one I want, but it will give me something to do to pass the time.”
“I thought you were thinking about getting a degree,” Tank says to him.
“Oh, that would be beneficial,” I say, turning to him.
“I am. I have time to decide. My first parole hearing isn’t for another three years.”
“God, I wish the judge hadn’t gone so hard on you,” I murmur.
“I don’t mind. I wasn’t doing anything productive with my life before now. I’m seeing it as an opportunity.”
“It’s prison,” I whisper-yell at him.
“Yeah, and it’s not a walk in the park, but it’s not hell either. Seriously, I’m fine. Please stop blaming yourself. I am right where I want to be. Hell, who knows. Maybe I’ll come out the other end better off.”
“Tank,” I huff.
“Laney, baby, Acid is strong. He knows what he’s doing. I don’t like it either, but we have to let him make his own choices. Even if it should be me in that seat.”
Acid loses all humor. “You have something worth living for out there. I don’t. It’s better that I was the one who found him.”
He says it pointedly, reminding us that we aren’t alone. Our conversation is being monitored.
“Let’s drop it and talk about something else. If this is how all the visits are going to go, I’ll decline them,” he warns.
“Fine, what do you want to talk about?” I ask.
“How about what everyone is up to at home? You can give me the monthly gossip.”
I smile. “That I can do. Jane had a pregnancy scare. She was freaking out, but Mac was overjoyed. I think he’s secretly trying to get her pregnant now.”
Acid smiles wide. “He loves those two kids. I never thought I would see him be a father.”
Tank snorts. “I don’t know if he actually wants another crotch goblin or he is enjoying what it takes to make one.”
“Gross, I do not want to hear about those two having sex.” I grimace.
“What about Gunner and Sloane? Has he managed to knock her up yet?” Acid asks.
“It’s been two months. Trust me, Sloane isn’t letting him impregnate her anytime soon. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.” Tank laughs.
“I think Kelly wants another one. Now that their little one is three, I think she is getting the itch,” I admit.
“I bet. What about you? You got the itch?”
I laugh. “I wouldn’t say it’s an itch, but I wouldn’t mind either way. What about you, Tank?”
I look over at him and see a feral look on his face. “I think I am going to enjoy what happens when we leave here.”
I tsk my tongue. “Only if you are a good boy.”
“Oh god. Okay, enough of all of that. Gross. Next subject.”
For the rest of the visit, we chat about everything and nothing at all.
We tell him that Kelly’s license was reinstated after the investigation was dropped and how things for Crow are also back to normal.
How everything was dismissed once Blaine was taken care of.
Then the conversation shifts, and we keep Acid laughing until the moment they call that the visit is ending.
“You don’t have to come back next month,” he tells me as he stands.
“Am I allowed to hug him?” I call out to a guard.
He nods so I step forward, hugging Acid.
“I will be here every single month until you are released. There is nothing you can do to change that. See you next month. If you need anything, you let me know,” I tell him.
“I will. You are a good woman.”
I smile. “I know. Be safe.”
“Yeah, don’t drop the soap,” Tank jokes.
“Shut up. I’ll see you next month then.”
We watch him being led away before we go through the process of leaving the prison. When we get to Tank’s bike, I turn to him, hugging him tight.
“Will he really be okay?” I ask.
“He will be. We will make sure of it.”
I sigh. “I love you, Warren.”
“I love you, Laney. Let’s go home.”
Tank
“We got it. It’s all gone,” Fox tells me.
“Thanks, man. She is going to be happy to hear that.” I breathe out a sigh of relief.
“Of course. Anything for the family. See you soon.” Fox hangs up the phone without another word.
I glance across the living room where Delaney is sitting with a book in her hand. She is so effortlessly beautiful. I could stare at her for hours.
We don’t have hours, though. No, we are expected at the clubhouse tonight. Now that everything has settled, Smoke thought it would be a good idea to have a get-together for the club to boost morale.
I like having our own space. I’ve all but moved in with her at her place. It’s been the best two months of my life. Waking up next to her each morning reminds me of how lucky I am to be with her.
It helps that her nightmares are waning. In fact, since we went and saw Acid, she has been coming more alive. She’s more like the girl I met all those months ago. She’s working through her trauma.
“That was Fox,” I say, making my way over to her.
“Yeah? Good news?” she asks, patting the couch next to me.
I take a seat, pulling her hand into my lap as I caress it. “The internet has been scrubbed of our video. No screenshots. No lingering copies. Fox went the extra mile to make sure there was no evidence of it.”
“I didn’t know he could do that. I thought once it was on the internet, it was on there forever.”
I pull her hand to my lips, kissing it gently. “Usually, yeah, but Fox has spent every moment since it was posted finding every single trail to every phone and computer until there is no existence of it. He didn’t want it to haunt you.”
Tears fill her eyes. “Oh my gosh. Does that mean he got rid of the copies the school had?”
I nod. “Yeah, baby. He did.”
She pushes forward until she’s in my lap. “Thank you. Oh my gosh. Thank you so much.”
“You should thank him. He’s at the clubhouse. We could go early so you could thank him personally before anyone else gets there,” I suggest.
“That’s a great idea. I’ll go get changed.” She jumps up and heads to our room.
I stand, trailing behind her. I lean against the door as I watch her strip. I must make a noise because she looks over at me, heat in her eyes.
“Careful, Warren. I might decide to forget all about being thankful to Fox and take what I need from you instead.”
It’s a threat she will one hundred percent follow through on. My cock is already hard and ready for her. I can’t let us get off track. Not today.
“You’re a minx, but we do not have the time to play today. Not if we want to be there tonight,” I remind her.
She sighs. “Go take a cold shower, then. I have an idea for how to tease you tonight.”
I swallow hard, doing as she commands. As much as teasing excites me, it also keeps me on the edge. I love every moment with my Laney, though.
I shower quickly, happy when my cock finally deflates. When I step out of the shower, she’s there, waiting with a device in her hand.
She kneels, smacking my cock when it attempts to rise again. Quickly, she straps on the device, my cock straining against the cock cage she’s put on me.
“Hmm, let’s see how you manage with this on all night. If you are extra good, I’ll even let you come when we are done.”
“You are diabolical,” I groan, the feeling of the cage making my blood heat.
“You better get dressed. I want to leave in five minutes. Don’t make me late.”
I love when she gets in bossy mode. Her barking tone is a jolt to my system, making me want to obey her.
I am dressed in three minutes and walking her out to my bike. She lets me help her put her helmet and jacket on before I climb on the bike, her finding her place behind me.
We weave through the town, the night air cooling down now that it’s not midsummer anymore.
It’s what I love most about the panhandle of Florida.
It actually gets cold for part of the year.
It reminds me of Boston without all the snow that comes with it.
Even if we have gotten some light snow the last two years.
I nod to the new prospect as he opens the gate to the compound. I pull in next to the two bikes already here. I shouldn’t be surprised Jagger is here. He is likely helping Kelly sort everything out.
“Is he in his office?” Delaney asks.
“Most likely. He already knows we are here.” I nod to the camera.
She waves at it, smiling as she heads inside. I trail behind her, knowing she wants to do this for herself.
I stay in the hall as she knocks on Fox’s office door. He tells her to come in. I nod to her with my head, indicating that I will be down the hall.
She smiles and steps inside.
I leave her to her mission and head to find Jagger. I’m not surprised to find him in the kitchen with the girls.
“You look good in an apron,” I joke.
“It keeps your clothes clean. Don’t be weird about it,” he gripes back at me.
“He’s a big help. Maybe he’s more like you than we think. He takes orders well.” Sloane smiles innocently at Jagger.
He growls. “No. No offense, brother, but I’m the one making the demands in the bedroom.”
Sloane shrugs, but it’s Jane who speaks up.
“If you are trying to get with Bertha, then you will be taking orders. The woman commands a room. I once saw her dress down a big, bad trucker with just her words. Trust me, Jagger. She’s a ballbuster.”
I chuckle as Jagger opens and closes his mouth. He isn’t sure what to say.
“Hey, can I help with anything?” Delaney says as she steps in to the room.
“Yeah, come take my place. I’m leaving.” Jagger pulls off his apron and throws it at Delaney. She catches it, looking at his retreating back as he leaves the room.
“What’s wrong with him?” she asks.
“I think he just realized the girl he wants is tougher than he thought,” Kelly says, laughing.
“Come on. We need help with the biscuits,” Jane adds.
Delaney goes to step away, but I grab her hand.
“We all good?” I raise a brow.
She nods. “Yeah. Everything is great.”
