Epilogue
A large brown box slid down the conveyor belt. The mechanism clanked as it brought the box to a hollow barrier.
Green lasers hit all sides of the box in an exquisite light show. The conveyor belt transported the box further.
When it reached the end of the line, a woman picked it up and carried it against her navy-blue suit, a white shirt peeking out underneath the jacket. She knocked on a large metal door, emblazoned with the technocrest of the Third Kingdom.
“Delivery, Mr Lock.”
A voice called out from behind the intricate wooden desk. “Ah, good, good.” A man opened the door and took the box from the woman’s hands.
Back inside the room, he undid the parcel with a short metal blade, his hands weathered and calloused by time, bulky veins tracing the backs of them.
He opened the box.
Inside were dozens and dozens of rolls of black duct tape. Next to them, a bulky grey headset.
The man picked up his vidphone, the other side answering immediately.
“We’ve received the Sleeper and the Induction Tape Astrid promised us. Yes, I’m sure the King will want to speed up the research. Oh, and do tell Mr Romly that we are ever so thankful.”
