Chapter 24
Blake
Holy fuck.
Tracy is secretly a little kinky.
The way she’ll fight me tooth and nail and then turn into such a compliant, good fucking girl, doing exactly as I say. Seeing her there, beneath me and so eager to please, had my heart fucking skipping a beat.
Which was why I had to get her out of here, before I did something stupid like get attached.
Because a woman like her? Fuck, we’d be so bad for each other. She’s been nothing but a stubborn pain in my ass since the beginning, and we fight more than we’re civil.
Though, I must admit, the fight is half the fun with her.
The way it gets her so worked up, the way her glorious tits rise and fall as her breathing gets heavy.
The way she holds her head high, readying to strike, while simultaneously that sweet, sweet pussy of hers is getting drenched, just begging me to touch it…
“Whatcha thinking about?”
I look up to find Whitney standing in the doorway, watching me with a curious look on her face.
Clearing my throat, I tell her, “Nothing.”
Opening a random tab on my laptop, I scroll, trying to look busy as my dick swells because that bastard is still thinking about Tracy’s wet pussy. Apparently, the fact that I just came fifteen minutes ago doesn’t matter when it comes to her.
“Uh huh.” Whitney clicks her tongue and takes a seat across from me. “You’re the worst liar I’ve ever met,” she goes on. “Remember that time I caught you climbing through the window—”
“What do you want, Whit?” I ask, cutting her off and saving me from reliving the memory she’s about to bring up.
So, I ran from the police a few times in my life.
Who hasn’t? Besides, if she knew the whole story behind that incident, she wouldn’t bring it up to throw in my face all the time.
It was her piece of shit boyfriend who had called the cops on me that night, after I beat the hell out of him for cheating on her.
But she doesn’t know that part, just that he broke up with her unexpectedly the next day. I never had the heart to tell her the truth either, because I knew she’d be even more upset. She was convinced he was the love of her life. As was Kimberly, the other girl he was seeing at the same time.
Whitney sits back in her chair and drums her fingers on the armrests. “Tracy just ran out of here,” she smirks at me, “and I don’t recall her wearing a front tie crop top when she came in this morning.”
She looks at me expectantly. When I say nothing, she asks, “Are you two finally together?”
My eyes roam to the spot on the floor beside the door where I had Tracy pinned. She grabbed her bra before leaving, but the buttons from her blouse are still scattered all over.
I’ll have to send her some new clothes tonight.
“Oh my god, you are!” Whitney shrieks, clapping her hands together like a fucking seal and bringing my focus back to her.
I let out a sigh and say a silent prayer that she doesn’t notice the buttons on her way out. “No, we aren’t,” I tell her. “Nothing has changed between Tracy and me since you were in here an hour ago.”
Whitney grabs a paperclip from my desk and tosses it at my face.
I catch it before it takes out my goddamn eye.
“You’re still a terrible liar,” she says, getting back up and heading for the door.
“But that’s okay, big bro. I’m pretty good at reading between the lines at this point.
And for what it’s worth, she’s way out of your league. So, treat her right.”
With that, she tosses her hair over her shoulder and walks out, but not before I see the subtle dip of her head, noticing the buttons all over the floor.
I hold back a groan.
No wonder Whitney likes Tracy so much. They’re both goddamn nuisances.
Forcing thoughts of Tracy out of my mind, I turn back to my laptop, only to be interrupted by a knock not five minutes later.
I’m about to tell Whitney to set up shop at Skye’s construction office because I’ve had it with her today when Lucas walks through the door.
Fuck, I take it back. I’d rather deal with Whitney.
Already knowing why he’s here, I push back from my desk to pour myself a drink.
“You gave the new girl the fucking Moores?” Lucas asks by way of greeting. “You knew I was already talking to them. They should have been my clients.”
I take a drink, and another, before finally turning back to face him. He stands at my desk, his palms planted flat on the surface, and I can’t say I care for the way he’s looking at me.
My hand tightens around the glass, and I don’t even bother returning to my seat. If this is going to turn into an argument, he’s not getting the upper hand.
Lucas and I have gone toe to toe on more than one occasion in the past. He pushes me, and I push right back.
Up until this point, it’s always been constructive, moving us toward a common goal.
It’s why he was one of the first agents I brought into the brokerage, because he’s not afraid of a fight.
He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. He knows how to make things happen.
But right now, he’s picking the wrong fucking fight.
“Jason was two seconds away from going to Michael Clark to represent him instead. If I hadn’t intervened, we would have lost him entirely,” I tell him, careful to keep my voice level. “You should know better than anyone that you do what the client fucking wants.”
Jason had confided to me that he wasn’t happy with Lucas.
It was why I took over and pulled Tracy in.
Lucas is pushy, and with the right clients, that works.
But he doesn’t know how to read the goddamn room, and Jason and Abigail weren’t those clients.
They needed someone a little more personable.
A little more patient. Someone who was going to advocate for them, and not just for the sake of closing the deal.
Lucas huffs a breath, his eyes laser focused on me as he says, “So, you give him to someone with no experience? She’s going to lose this deal. That bitch has no clue what she’s even doing.”
“Watch your fucking mouth.” I slam my glass down on the desk, whiskey spilling over the lip, as every muscle in my body tenses.
He smirks at me. “You’re fucking her, aren’t you?
It’s the only reason I can think of that you would bring on someone with no experience, and then turn around and hand feed her a client.
” He loosens his tie, a sleazy grin plastered on his face.
“She must put out good. Does she suck dick like a pro? Man, those full lips of hers. I can just imagine—”
I fucking snap, grab my glass, and hurl it at him. He ducks, narrowly avoiding it. The glass shatters against the wall behind him, and by that point, I’ve rounded my desk, my sole focus on making him pay for his words.
Grabbing him by the shirt, I shove him backward until his back meets the wall, pinning him there with my fists clenched tight in the fabric. “Want to finish that sentence?” I ask, shoving into him harder, his head smacking into the wall. “What can you imagine, Lucas?”
He grabs my wrists, trying to push me off, but I don’t budge.
“Fucking hell,” he hisses. “You seriously going to start shit over some pussy right now? After everything I’ve done for you?
” He shoves at my chest, and this time I let him go.
But only because if I don’t, my fist is going to find his fucking mouth for talking about Tracy that way.
Lucas smooths out his shirt, taking a moment to adjust his tie before saying, “If you’re going to let that bitch—”
My fist connects with his face.
Blood pours from Lucas’ nose, dripping onto his white dress shirt. “The fuck!” he bellows.
“I told you to watch your fucking mouth.” I get in his face again, shoving him back into the wall and pressing my chest into his, not caring that his blood is soaking into my shirt now as well.
“Tell you what. You take the night to think over how much this job means to you, and when you come back tomorrow, if you get on your knees and ask fucking nicely, I just might consider letting you stay.” I give him a final shove, then return to the bar cart behind my desk, grabbing a new glass and pouring myself another drink.
Lucas grabs his tie, holding the end of it under his nose in a sad attempt to stifle the bleeding.
“Consider this my resignation, then,” he sneers, though his voice comes out nasally from the pressure of holding his nose.
“I’m not wasting my time at a place where I have to suck dick to get a client. ”
He stalks out, and it takes all my willpower not to go after him. Not to drive my fist into his face again and again until even the thought of Tracy’s name coming out of his mouth causes him terror.
Fuck, things were never supposed to get this messy. Tracy wasn’t even supposed to be here this long, and yet here I am, going fucking insane at the thought of anyone else trying to hurt her. Trying to put her down. Trying to make her seem less than.
Tracy didn’t get that client just because we’ve fooled around. She got that client because she’s sharp. Because she’s a fast learner. Because she’s got a heart of gold underneath that goddamn stubborn exterior, and she’ll treat her clients like kings.
And this deal I have with her? Our ground rules?
Okay, yes, I made them with the intent of fully taking advantage of her. But it’s because she drives me fucking crazy. She gets into my head and under my skin like no one else has ever been able to. And she fights me. She fights me every step of the way, knowing we both get a thrill from it.
I sink into my chair, throwing back my drink in one fell swoop.
It’s not even lunchtime, and the entire day has gone to shit. Fucking Tracy’s tits on the floor already feels like a lifetime ago.
“Hey, B?”
I sigh. “Yes, Whit?”
Whitney approaches my desk, cautiously, like she’s afraid she’ll be jumped next. “I, uh… I take it I should send Lucas’ license back? Unless that bloody nose was some kind of weird foreplay.”
I snort. Oh, I could very well see bloody noses as foreplay, except that it would be Tracy giving them to me. I tell Whitney, “Send it back today and revoke his access to everything. Any client files he has open send to me.”
“You got it, boss.” She turns to leave, then pauses. “But, umm… Can I ask what he did to deserve that beat down? He was one of your first agents, and you two have always been close. I didn’t think he’d ever leave.”
I contemplate how much to tell her, but settle with the truth. “He accused me of giving Tracy clients because she’s fucking me.” Her mouth drops open, and I add, “If you hear rumblings from anyone else about Tracy, you don’t engage. You bring it directly to me. Understood?”
Whitney’s brows hit her forehead, like she can’t quite understand how things went from zero to a hundred so fast.
Well, join the fucking club, because I don’t know how we got here, either.
“Yeah, you got it,” she says, backing out of my office. Then, a small smile lights her face. “Soooo, I was right earlier. You two are together.”
“I swear to God, Whitney.”
She puts up her hands in mock innocence.
“Like I said earlier, treat her well, big bro. But maybe lose the whole hothead thing. It’s getting really old.
I thought you grew out of these temper tantrums, but this is the second person you’ve hit because of her.
” She winks at me, then rushes out of the room before I can come back at her.
She’s right, though. Ever since Tracy came around, I’ve had a hard time keeping my cool. I don’t think there’s any more denying it: I am fucked.
