Chapter 33

Tracy

I’m nervous when I pull up to the office Monday afternoon, and I’m not sure why.

Okay, that’s a lie. It’s one hundred percent because I’m about to see Blake for the first time since I left his place Saturday morning.

Friday night was amazing—the best sex I’ve ever had in my life.

After our talk and Blake fucking me in his bed, we dozed off for an hour before he woke me up to fuck me again in the shower.

And then in his bed again. It was only when I finally passed out from sheer exhaustion that he left me alone.

Sexually, at least. He was wrapped around me all night long, holding me close, as I had the best sleep of my life.

And it’s not like Saturday morning was bad, either. Blake ordered us breakfast and coffee, fucked me one more time for good measure, and then I went home, his cum running out of me as he dropped me off at my apartment.

So, why the hell am I so nervous to walk into this building today?

Maybe it’s because everything has done a complete one-eighty since the last time I was here.

Friday I was pissed off at Blake and on the verge of transferring to another brokerage.

And now? I’ve been thoroughly fucked by my boss.

I’ve come on his tongue, his dick, his fingers, and his dick a few more times.

He said I was his and made me promise not to leave.

I was his good little whore, relishing in his dirty words and soft praises as he commanded my body.

And then I spent all day yesterday thinking about how I can’t wait to be his good little whore again, like my backbone somehow ceases to exist when it comes to him.

Now I’m supposed to walk in there like everything is normal after all of that? Do I even want that? Do I want to go back to him being cold and aloof around me for the sake of going back to ‘normal’?

Or do I want him to be the man he was with me on Friday night? A man who was still demanding and ruthless in his pursuits but who was gentle when needed. Who showed me a glimpse of the vulnerable side of himself. Who held me close and kissed me so passionately, I never wanted to leave his bed.

Sighing, I cut the engine and grab my bag, heading for the front door as butterflies swirl in my stomach. I head straight for Blake’s office, deciding to rip the band-aid off and see which of his personalities I’m going to get from now on.

“Hey,” Whitney greets me when I reach the top step. She grabs an envelope, waving it at me. “Here’s your commission check from the Moores closing.”

“That was fast.” I grab the envelope from her and tear it open. My mouth drops when I see the number on the check. “Um, Whitney, there must be a mistake, because this is way more than it should be.”

“If Blake signed it, it’s correct,” she says, not even bothering to look at me as she types away at her computer. “Take it up with him.”

I frown at her, then head down the hallway to Blake’s office. He’s behind his desk, pouring over a file in front of him, and I can’t help but stare.

Now that I know what’s under those clothes, he’s somehow even more attractive.

I can just picture the hard, toned muscle under his black dress shirt.

I can practically feel the rippling of his biceps and forearms as he pages through paperwork.

And his stomach, those tight abs, the dark trail of hair leading down…

“You’re staring.”

I jump at his words, dropping my commission check to the floor.

Smooth, Tracy. Real smooth.

Scooping up the check, I enter his office and plop my bag onto one of the chairs across from him. I pull out the other to sit, when he says, “Nuh uh, come here.”

“Blake, we said no more ground rules—”

“These aren’t ground rules.” He cuts me off, pushing back in his chair. “This is me wanting to greet my woman, who I have missed terribly.”

“Your woman, huh?” I smirk at him.

“Yes. Mine,” he replies, his voice low and dangerous.

“And you missed me terribly?”

“My dick has.” The bastard smirks right back.

Rolling my eyes, I round the desk, and as soon as I’m within reach, he grabs my hips, pulling me between his thighs.

My hands push on his shoulders. “Someone could see us,” I whisper, acutely aware of the wide open office door.

“Then you better hurry up and kiss me before someone does.” He slides his hands to my ass, pulling me in closer, and I let him this time.

Leaning down, my lips find his, and God, the man can kiss. Between his tongue licking searing sweeps into my mouth and his fingers digging into my ass through my thin dress, I’m practically buzzing with desire for more.

He pulls back, grinning at me like he knows exactly the effect he’s having on me, those green eyes twinkling with mischief. Swatting his hands away, I return to safety on the other side of the desk.

“My commission is wrong,” I say, tossing the check to him. “This isn’t what we agreed on. It’s too much.”

He doesn’t even look at it before sliding it back over to my side of the desk. “You closed that transaction on your own, Trace. You deserve the full cut.”

“But the paperwork we signed—”

“The paperwork you signed. I never signed the negotiated commission agreement, so you’ll get the same split all the other agents do.”

“So, this is part of treating me like everyone else?” I ask, not quite believing his motives.

He winks at me. “Mostly.”

I sigh. “Why do I feel like there’s some kind of catch here? Are you going to make me blow you under your desk?”

He laughs, the sound deep and rumbly and so sexy it goes straight to my core. “I would never say no to shoving my dick down your throat, but that’s not it.” He gets up, rounding the desk to come to my side. “I have something else planned for you.”

“That sounds ominous.”

“It is.” He brushes my hair behind my shoulder. “You’ll be begging for mercy by the end of it.”

“Goody. Looking forward to it,” I deadpan, even though my stomach flips at his wicked words. “And what exactly does this plan entail?”

He gives me a sinister look, leaning in to tell me, “You’ll find out soon.”

My breathing becomes shallow at the promise in his voice. My body leans into his like my very being is caught in his gravitational pull when my phone rings, breaking the silence and the thick tension in the air.

I turn to grab it from my bag as his hands come to my face, holding me in place. “Let it go to voicemail,” he murmurs, before dipping down and kissing me.

My hands come to his chest and I kiss him back, losing myself in the taste and smell and feel of him, completely forgetting that anyone could walk in on us.

Until my phone starts ringing again.

I pull back, and he groans. “Sorry,” I say. “It must be important if they’re calling again.”

He gives my ass a tap as I turn around and rummage through my bag, pulling out my phone. Except when I see the caller ID, I wish I hadn’t stopped to grab it.

Maybe he didn’t see. Maybe he wasn’t paying attention.

“Why is Lucas calling you?” Blake asks, even as I ignore the call and send it to voicemail.

But then it rings again, Lucas’ name lighting up my screen for Blake to very clearly see this time.

“Answer it,” Blake says, his voice dark and full of lethal promise. “And put it on speaker.”

“Blake—”

“Answer it.” The cold tone to his voice leaves no room for argument, so I answer.

“Hey, Lucas,” I say in greeting when the call connects.

“Hey,” he says, his voice filling the office. “Did you get your transfer paperwork sent in?”

Blake stands in front of me, his arms crossed over his chest and his jaw ticking. His forearms flex, his hands fisting like he’s having to contain himself right now.

I turn away from him and the hostile look on his face, and sink down onto the couch in the seating area. “No,” I tell Lucas. “I actually decided to stay at The Frenshaw Group.”

“That’s a mistake, Tracy. Don’t let Blake manipulate you into staying.”

“He’s not.”

“He is,” Lucas insists, his voice taking on an edge I’ve never heard before. “He’ll fucking use you, and when he’s had enough, he’ll kick you to the curb.”

“No, he wouldn’t—”

“You stupid fucking whore,” Lucas hisses, and tears fill my eyes at the harshness of his voice. “I should have known you wouldn’t leave. Too busy sucking Blake’s dick to take anything seriously.”

“Lucas, that’s not what’s happening.” I don’t know why I feel the need to defend myself. Maybe because I thought Lucas was someone I could count on? He seemed so genuine when he was trying to convince me to go work with him. “I’m not—”

He cuts me off. “That’s the only reason he’s keeping you around, you stupid bitch.”

“That’s enough,” Blake snaps, storming over and grabbing my phone from my shaking hand. “Listen closely, Lucas. If you ever so much as breathe in Tracy’s direction again, I’ll crush you like the fucking cockroach you are. Understand?”

Lucas’ laugh rumbles through the line. “I should have known you were listening in. Keeping your whore on a short leash, Blake?”

“Don’t contact Tracy again,” Blake says with deadly cool. “And the next time I see you, you better hope like hell someone else is around to save you.”

He disconnects the call, tossing my phone onto the coffee table before grabbing my shaking hands and pulling me up into his chest.

“Shhhh,” he says, his arms wrapping tight around me. “Don’t listen to him. He doesn’t matter.”

“I know,” I choke out.

Still, his words cut deep, and I can’t help it as I sink further into the comfort of Blake’s chest, my tears soaking into his shirt as he holds me close.

He kisses the top of my head. “Nothing he said is true,” he murmurs, his hand finding the back of my head and cradling it.

I just nod against him, hoping like hell that’s the case, because at this point, my heart wouldn’t be able to handle Blake tossing me aside. Against my better judgment, I’m attached to him. I want to be with him. I want to see where this goes.

He must sense my apprehension, because he says, “I’m not using you, Trace. And I’m sure as fuck not kicking you to the curb.”

“Then why did he say all those things? Because you fired him?”

“That’s my best guess.” He sinks down onto the couch, pulling me with him and holding me in his lap.

I wipe under my eyes, trying to make sense of everything. “He said you fired him for no reason, but I’m starting to think that’s not the case.”

“I fired him because of the way he was talking about you,” Blake says, grabbing my hand and pulling it to his lips. “I fired him because I wouldn’t tolerate his blatant disrespect for you.”

His response takes me by surprise. He was defending me? Even back when I was sure he didn’t want me here?

“Why was he trying to get me to leave, then? Why would Lucas pretend to care about me?” None of this makes sense.

Blake sighs. “To punish me. He was trying to get you to leave to punish me. He saw that there was something between us, and he couldn’t handle that I would side with you over him.”

I drop my head onto his shoulder. “Ugh, I feel like such an idiot. I actually thought he wanted to help me.”

“You’re not, sweetheart.” He kisses my forehead. “It took me years to see his true colors. If anyone is the idiot here, it’s me.”

A tiny smile sneaks onto my lips. “I won’t disagree.”

“Hey.” Blake captures my chin in his fingers, forcing my gaze to meet his smoldering one. “Be careful, or I’ll bend you over my desk and pull out the ruler again.”

“I’ll let you do anything you want to me as long as you make me come,” I tell him, my core heating with the desire to feel something good.

He groans, sliding me off his lap, then stalking to the office door and locking it.

When he turns back to me, his gaze is wicked. “Be my good little whore, sweetheart, and go bend over my desk.”

And like his good little whore, I do.
