Chapter 5
Darius
Her friend, Tina, opens the door. "Your rescuer's here," she calls into the cabin, and I feel my cheeks heat.
"Hey. Sorry. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay in here."
"Everything is great. Thank you so much for your hospitality," Emerson says from the couch.
"Okay. Great," I say, stepping back to make my escape. I feel incredibly awkward and nervous around her, like a schoolboy with a crush.
"Oh, mister..." Emerson calls to me.
"Please call me Darius."
"Okay. Yes. Darius. I was just wondering... I didn't sleep well last night because I kept thinking that I am meant to move to the Cape."
"Move here?" I say with surprise.
Her friend, Tina, looks up from the kitchen and exclaims, "She visited a psychic yesterday. I think she's being led by her reading."
Her friend gives the runaway bride a sly smile and Emerson appears to roll her eyes at her, turning back to me.
"I just kept thinking about how I finally stood up to my father and for what I want in this life. And now that I'm homeless, well, why not make a new home here?"
"Sea Glass is a fantastic place to live," I say, trying not to sound too excited about her moving closer to me when I don't even know the woman. "Hey, I know a great real estate agent. I could get her info for you."
"That would be fantastic," Emerson says.
"Alright. I have her info in the office if you want to meet me there in a half-hour after I do my walkthrough."
"Okay. Sounds like a plan. Thank you so much, Darius," she says, beaming at me.
My cock twitches at the sight of her happy, lovely face.
"Of course, I'm glad to help."
When I shut the door behind me, I swear I hear Tina giggling through the door while saying, "Hot rescuer!"
Forty minutes later, Emerson and her friend come into the campground office.
"Hey. I actually found her business card in my desk," I say, handing it to her. "Talitha Hawthorne. She's a fantastic real estate agent. She's also a witch, so I think she uses a little bit of magic finding perfect places for people, but I'm not sure if she will admit to that," I say with a grin.
"Thank you so much. We were going to go drive around today. Maybe I'll see if she's available to meet with," Emerson says.
I watch them walk out of the office, unable to tear myself away from Emerson's juicy curves. She has a rocking, voluptuous body. Just my type.
When the door opens, I hear Ike's voice and see him holding it open for the women to pass through. After they leave, he peers back at me with a shit-eating grin.
"Damn," he says, walking up to the counter.
"Why are you here?"
"Picking up your tennis racket, remember, Mr. Friendly?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot."
"Who were those ladies?"
"Oh, just people staying in one of the cabins," I say, trying to avoid the topic.
"That blue-haired one was sexy as all hell."
"Yeah. She is."
"Look at you checking out a woman," Ike teases me.
"I actually kind of rescued Emerson yesterday," I admit, then internally curse myself for bringing it up.
"How did you rescue this Emerson?"
"Believe it or not, she was supposed to get married yesterday, and I saw her running down the sidewalk in her wedding gown," I say, laughing at the random situation.
"You rescued a runaway bride?" Ike says, slapping his hand on the counter. "Are you shitting me?"
"I am not shitting you," I say, laughing. "Here. Follow me. My tennis rackets are in my house."
Right then, Russ walks into the office.
"You got this place covered, Russ?"
"You got it, boss."
Walking to my house, Ike says, "Dude, you need to go for that."
"Excuse me?" I say, knowing exactly what he means.
"That woman with the blue hair, what's her name? Emerson? You need to go for that. Go for that blue-haired Emerson," he says, giving me a playful punch in the arm.
"Dude, she looks like she's a decade, or more, younger than me."
"Who the fuck cares? She's fine as fuck," Ike says as we enter my cabin.
