Chapter Five #2
“I’m not the one lyin’. If there’s one thing you can say about me, it’s that I don’t lie for any reason.
I’m brutally honest no matter who I’m talkin’ to.
I haven’t said anythin’ about the lies you’ve been spreadin’ around here until now, but this shit is done.
I have not fucked you. We do not share a bed.
Outside of this club, you and I don’t even speak.
I turn in the other direction when I see you comin’ close to me.
I’ve known you since high school and your games have never worked on me before.
There is only one person I will make my ol’ lady and she sure as fuck ain’t you,” I state, watching the realization dawn on Jess as her eyes narrow and she tilts her head just slightly before I continue speaking.
“The one rule I have in this club is that if you work for me, I won’t fuck you.
I’m not about to mix business with pleasure.
You’re fuckin’ delusional if you think I’d ever break that rule for you.
Since you want to cause problems for me once again and think you run this shit, tonight you’re on cleanin’ duty.
Bathrooms and garbage included. You won’t see any time on the stage. ”
“You can’t do that to me, Tease! I’m the best dancer you have,” Jess screams as I start laughing in her face.
“You’re not the best dancer here. If I had to rank all of you from best to worst, you’d be at the very bottom of the list, Jess.
That’s why you always get the worst slots on stage and only get one song a night instead of multiple like the rest of the girls.
Now, you’re on janitor duty. If you don’t want to lose you’re fuckin’ job right now, get the fuck to work.
And if I ever hear you spewin’ this shit again, you’re done.
I’m tired of dealin’ with your ass and am more than ready not to ever see you again because I will run you out of town without hesitation,” I tell her as I make my way toward the bar so I can keep an eye on Jess while the rest of the girls get ready to open for the night.
Mistique is behind the bar right now and hands me over an unopened bottle of water.
She knows I won’t have a drink this early in the day.
I save that for once I have the rest of my work done.
Today, I have to complete the paperwork filling every available inch of my desk.
I’ve been slacking and need to get back on track.
***
The club is filled to capacity as the music blares through the main room.
I’ve gotten all of my paperwork done and placed an order for more alcohol.
Now, it’s time for me to take a look at what’s happening in the main room of the club.
Doom will take care of the private rooms to ensure our girls are protected and no one takes things too far.
After making my way through the room, I end up at the bar where my dad and Knuckles are already sitting.
They’re taking up two stools at the end and I make my way over to them.
“What are you two doin’ here tonight?” I ask them, motioning for Grace that I want a drink. She knows my drink of choice and doesn’t hesitate to pour me a shot while grabbing a beer for me. It’s the only thing I’ll have tonight because I won’t ride my bike if I have more than this.
“Checkin’ in on you,” my dad answers as I take the stool next to him. “How are things goin’ with Sheridan?”
“Not great. Our son is growin’ and everythin’ is good with him.
Sheridan is still havin’ problems and Dr. Matthews is talkin’ about admittin’ her to the hospital until she goes into labor.
Her blood pressure was elevated at her last appointment a few days ago and she’s got some swellin’.
Her back is really botherin’ her too even if she tried to say it wasn’t that bad,” I answer him before taking my shot and setting the glass back down on the bar in front of me.
“You talk to her yet?” Knuckles asks me as he leans forward to see me better.
“No. She had to go to the hospital after the appointment to get more fluids. I never got the chance to talk to her before her dad was at her side. Since then, I’ve been tryin’ to figure out how I can make this situation right and I know there’s nothin’ I can do,” I tell them as I spot Jess out of the corner of my eye trying to give a lap dance to a customer who is refusing.
Turning to face the door, I find Tommy. With a nod toward Jess, he quickly moves to get her off the floor and back to cleaning.
“What’s goin’ on there?” my dad asks, a smile on his face as we all watch Jess throw a damn tantrum like a toddler.
“She tried tellin’ everyone she was in charge when I’m not in the buildin’.
That I was gonna make her my ol’ lady and she was in my bed last night.
Her fuckin’ delusions are gettin’ worse and I’m sick of her shit.
I want to keep her close because I don’t trust the bitch, but I’m not gonna deal with this bullshit on a daily basis.
Told her she was on her last shot and then put her on janitor duty for the night.
She’s not supposed to be near the customers and won’t get any time on stage tonight,” I inform them as Tommy finally gets Jess to the back and away from our customers.
“Never did like the bitch,” my dad states, lifting his beer and taking a sip before turning away from the floor and the girls on stage.
My dad has been loyal to my mom since the day he first saw her.
No matter where he is or who’s around, he refuses to look at another woman if he can help it.
If one tries to talk to him, he quickly shuts it down and announces proudly that he’s married and won’t ever cheat on his ol’ lady.
The mere mention of my mom’s name is more than enough to make him smile and light up.
She’s the only woman on his mind and in his heart and isn’t afraid to let everyone around him know that.
For a few hours, the three of us watch everything in the club while talking.
My dad and Knuckles try to help me come up with ideas of how to win Sherian over and make her forgive me for being a dumb fuck.
Yes, my dad called me a dumb fuck. It’s not the first time and I know it won’t be the last time either.
Jess ends up getting thrown out of the club for the night when she attempts to go into one of the private rooms. Doom was already informed of her duties for the night and Jess actually put her hands on him in a pathetic attempt to beat the shit out of him.
Doom just stood there and took her hits before escorting her to her car and telling her not to come back until she hears from me.
Other than her bullshit, the night ran smoothly and there were only a few times the bouncers had to step in to dissolve a situation before it became something larger.
After closing Slayer’s Pit for the night, the three of us rode back to the compound together and went our separate ways to get some sleep for the night.
I climbed into bed with thoughts of Sheridan and our son on my mind knowing we need to talk about things sooner rather than later and having no clue how to move forward with our situation.
