Chapter 1
Chapter One
WILL
Iwas so excited today. I was officially going to start the new nannying gig I snagged.
Although I was happy, I was nervous. The job consisted of working around a motorcycle club.
I wasn’t the judgmental type at all, but I had never been around an MC.
The only thing I could go off of were the few whispers around town about the club.
Some felt the club's members were good people. They were always giving back to the community, and as far as anyone knew, they weren’t into anything illegal. Then there were the people who felt the club wasn’t to be fucked with. While they might stay out of the way, crossing them wasn’t smart.
During my interview with two of the club’s Ol’ Ladies, Cara and Sara, I had never felt more welcomed by someone in my life. Those two were like a breath of fresh air. So were the men.
There were so many candidates applying for the position, and it was clear that a handful of the women there were not concerned about the children.
They were more focused on the men of the club.
Cara and Sara easily weeded out those candidates.
It wasn’t hard either. They couldn’t take their eyes off the guys.
Today was my new beginning. For years, I had been trying to get away from my family.
They didn’t understand me, and that made getting along hard.
I was always a topic of discussion. Between my sexuality, career choice, how I dressed, and so on and so on, I was always nitpicked, while my stepsister, Tabitha, could do no wrong.
My mother foolishly thought that because we were a year apart, we would get along just fine.
That never happened. Tabitha was a complete bitch to me from the first time I met her.
I hated how my mother never stood up for me.
Ever since she met her husband, Elliot, when I was eight, she had done anything and everything to make him happy, including turning a blind eye whenever he or his daughter belittled me.
Deep down, I knew Tabitha and Elliot hated me.
For many reasons that weren’t my fault, and I would never apologize for.
Recently, things had gotten really bad, and I moved out. Luckily for me, my best friend, Oscar, had a spare room. He told me the room was mine as long as I needed it until I got on my feet.
I’d always known that I wanted to work with kids. So, my taking this nanny gig wasn’t just a job to me. At twenty-three years old, I had my CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials, along with my CPR and first aid certificates. I had also taken a nutrition and cooking course.
Besides all the certificates I had, I was also great with children.
I had patience and understanding. I loved watching them grow and learn.
What many people failed to realize was that children were our future.
They needed to be unconditionally loved, which I felt was lacking in many households, including mine.
“Will! Shouldn’t you be on your way to the clubhouse?” Oscar asked as he sauntered into my room.
Looking him over, I noticed he was still in his robe. “I’m on my way out now. Shouldn’t you be headed to the salon?”
Rolling his eyes, he propped himself on the doorframe. “Normally I would be, but my eight o’clock canceled at the last minute.”
“Oh, okay. Well, let me get out of here. I don’t want to be late on my first day, and the clubhouse is a forty-five-minute drive from here.”
Grabbing my keys and wallet off the dresser, I made my way out of my room.
“Make sure to tell me what every single one of those sexy devils looks like up close and personal when you get home tonight.”
Snatching the front door open, I snickered and looked over my shoulder. “You know I will.”
I had just parked my car outside the clubhouse.
My stomach was a ball of nerves. The moment I had been waiting for was finally here.
I sat in my car for a few minutes before getting out.
Right as I closed my door, another car came up the dirt trail.
As it got closer, I noticed it was the other nanny they had hired, Debbie.
I decided to wait so that I could formally introduce myself.
We would be working together to take care of the children.
Speaking of children, there were quite a few.
Cara had triplets who were ten months old, and she was currently three months pregnant.
When she told me that during the interview, my jaw hit the floor.
She and her husband, Viper, sure had been busy.
Sara explained that she and her husband, Bear, had a ten-year-old daughter, Hannah. Like Cara, Sara was also three months pregnant. There were also three other children. Marco was Cara and Sara’s brother, and Cindy and Colt were the children of a club brother, Big Red.
For one nanny, that probably would have been a lot to juggle, but for two, it would be a cakewalk. Plus, the girls had already informed us that their mother would be close by, helping as well. She lived on the compound strictly to be there for her grandkids.
Debbie got out of her car, wiping her palms against her pants.
It's good to know I’m not the only one nervous.
I stretched my hand out to her. “Hi, I’m Will. We didn’t really get to speak during the interviews.”
“Debbie,” she said just above a whisper as she shook my hand. She gave me a small smile as we made our way to the clubhouse’s front door.
Before we could reach the steps, the door opened, and Sara and Cara appeared. They approached us, watching us intently, as if they were analyzing us.
“I can see the nerves all over you two,” Cara said with a bright smile. “It’s understandable, but not necessary. I know motorcycle clubs don’t have the best reputations, but we aren’t like that. In time, you’ll see for yourself.”
I didn’t know why, but I felt a weight lift off me. I was always nervous around new people and places. Being gay, I had my guard up, not knowing if someone would treat me differently because of that.
“Now, why don’t we give you a tour of the clubhouse before we introduce you to the children?” Sara waved her hand, motioning for us to follow them.
From there, they took us all around the clubhouse. They had everything—a movie theater, a gym, a game room, and their very own infirmary. The kitchen looked like something right out of an upscale restaurant. This place was nothing like I was expecting.
“Now, you two would rarely be here unless we requested you to. Not saying you aren’t welcome because you are. If you can't reach us or our husbands over the phone, you can find Viper in his office, or you can look for me and Sara in the cave.”
“The cave?” I questioned.
Cara smirked before turning away and facing the wall. That’s when I noticed the scanner mounted on it. She placed her palm against it. I could hear a clicking sound before she pushed the door open. “This is the cave,” she said as we entered the room.
My eyes bulged as I looked at all the different equipment in the room. There were three different stations with five screens mounted on the wall.
Cara and Sara threw their heads back, roaring with laughter at the expressions on our faces. “I’m sure you both have questions, and we’ll answer them later. For now, we just wanted you to know your way around the place.”
Before Cara could continue, I heard a voice that gave me instant goosebumps.
“Sara, Cara, have you noticed the cameras on the west wing are glitching?” a man asked as he entered the room.
I turned and was faced with the most breathtaking specimen I had ever laid eyes on.
He was well over six feet with piercing blue eyes.
His platinum-blond hair was cut short on the sides and long on the top.
His neatly trimmed beard suited him well.
I normally didn’t care for men who wore glasses, but his added to his sex appeal.
My God, I was almost drooling just looking at him.
The black T-shirt he wore did nothing to hide his physique. One of his arms was covered in tattoos.
I was sure I wasn’t even blinking as I was somewhat stuck in a trance. This stranger had literally taken my breath away.
“What were you saying about the cameras, Tech?” Sara asked, snapping me back to reality.
It was then that I noticed he was staring at me too. I really couldn’t peg what he was thinking, but I could see the curiosity in his eyes. He blinked a few times before giving Sara his full attention.
“The cameras on the west wing are glitching.”
“Okay. Well, let us take the nannies to meet the kids, and then we can come back to see what’s going on. By the way, Debbie and Will, this is Tech. Tech, these are the nannies we hired.”
Tech stuck his hand out to Debbie first, shaking her hand, and then he did the same to me. As soon as our palms met, a tingle shot up my arm. I knew it wasn’t just me because I Tech’s hand jerked. He dropped my hand like it was on fire.
“We’ll be back in a few to work on those cameras,” Cara said as she walked out of the room. Debbie and I followed suit. As I was walking out, I couldn’t help but turn around and get one final glimpse. To my surprise, his eyes were already on me.
This time, I could clearly see what he was thinking.
Lust.
His smoldering gaze sent a chill up my spine. I turned around and hightailed it out of that room. I didn’t understand my reaction to Tech, and I wasn’t going to find out. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my dream job for anything or anyone.
