THREE
An hour later, Finley knew a lot more about plant nurseys and he was fantasizing about what life would be like with predictable employment and no student obligations.
People had rotated into and out of the house, but Finley stayed in his chair by the fire.
The only person he really knew was Jason, and Jason seemed content in his seat outside.
“If you’re interested, there’s a man who’ll blow anyone who wants it,” Jason said, voice low.
“What?” Finley asked, certain he couldn’t have heard correctly. Then, because his traitorous brain got ahead of him, he blurted out, “who?”
“Henry’s boyfriend, he gets off on it or whatever. They’re back in Henry’s bedroom, and they’ll be back there for awhile. He’ll blow whoever wants it. Even if they come back out later, if you ask, he’ll probably do it.” Finley shifted in his chair.
“I’m straight,” Finley deflected. Jason shrugged.
“I don’t think that matters to him, they’ve been doing this awhile and I’ve seen a lot of straight guys go in and out of there,” Jason said.
“I meant, I’m not sure if I’d want a guy sucking me off,” Finley said. It was a lie. Maybe he wouldn’t be interested in most men, but Alex was pretty. Still, it was dangerous territory.
“Right on,” Jason said, dismissing the conversation. He leaned back in his chair and rejoined the group conversation.
Finley tried to pay attention to the banter around him, but his attention waned.
He shook his empty can. It was a good excuse to move around.
He stood up and went to the, tossing his can into the recycling bin.
He went inside and looked inside the refrigerator but was indecisive.
He wandered into the living room, which was just as crowded with bodies as it had been when Finley had first ventured inside.
Finley went through a small hallway and found a bathroom. The hallway was dark and empty and Finley guessed the other doors in the hallway led to bedrooms. He assumed one of those bedrooms would be Henry’s.
Finley didn’t intend to knock on any closed doors in search of Henry and Alex, but he noticed one of the doors was partially open. Unable to deter his curiosity, Finley edged closer to the open door and peeked inside.
