THREE
“Hey, I’m going out tonight,” Cameron said. He opened the refrigerator and pulled out an energy drink.
“You got a date?” Zach asked. He was eating a sandwich over the kitchen sink.
“Yeah, actually. It’s Madelyn from work. She asked me to go to her friend’s show with her.” Madelyn was fun to talk to, and really cute. She was a great coworker. He liked her. Cameron wasn’t sure why he hadn’t asked her out.
“Nice. Jake and I are going out tonight, too. We’ll probably go to his place after, but if you bring Madelyn back here, send me a text. Don’t want to kill the vibe or whatever.” Zach pushed the last bit of sandwich into his mouth and dusted off his hands over the sink.
“Thanks. Jake’s been around a lot,” Cameron said. He took a deep swallow of his drink and tried to look casual.
“Is that a problem?” Zach asked.
“No! No, I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just saying… seems like you still like him?” Cameron asked.
“Oh, yeah. I do, it’s been good.” Zach didn’t offer any more information. Cameron tried not to let that bother him. He tried to come up with a follow-up question that didn’t seem like he was fishing for information, but Zach walked off in the direction of his bedroom.
“Good luck tonight,” Zach said on his way out.
“Great, thanks, you too,” Cameron said, voice trailing off. He grimaced. What the fuck was wrong with him?
The date was okay. Cameron didn’t feel much of a connection with Madelyn, and she seemed to feel the same. They parted ways amicably, and Cameron went home right after the show. He left his car at the bar, and they split a ride. He planned to go back for his car later.
Back at his apartment, Cameron took a bag of chips to his room and opened his laptop. He planned to watch a couple of episodes of a television show before falling asleep. He drifted off before the end of the first episode.
Cameron woke up to voices outside his room. Zach was back, and it sounded like Jake was with him. He didn’t bother getting up, but he didn’t go back to sleep right away. He rolled over and picked up his phone.
The voices moved towards Zach’s room. Cameron assumed they were going to bed.
He wondered what they did in bed. Had they had sex yet?
Probably, they had been seeing each other for a few weeks.
What did they do when they had sex? Cameron tried to put those questions, and the image of what Zach looked like during sex, out of his imagination.
It probably wasn’t good roommate etiquette to think about your roommate having sex.
While Cameron was thinking and trying not to think about his roommate in bed with a man, the noises in the next room died down. Cameron put his phone down and turned back on his side. A moment of silence stretched, and Cameron felt himself drifting off again.
There was a soft thud on the other side of the wall followed by a faint moan.
Blood rushed to Cameron’s dick. Was that…
? Don’t think about it, go back to sleep, Cameron told himself.
There was another soft thud, then another.
Cameron pictured Zach’s room. Was that the headboard hitting the wall?
Don’t worry about it, it’s not your business, Cameron told himself.
Roommate stuff like this happens all the time.
The key is to ignore it and not think about it. That’s what a good roommate does.
The knocks against the wall picked up speed.
The soft thuds became bangs against the wall.
The voices became louder. He could hear Jake’s voice reverberating through the wall.
Was Jake getting fucked? Was he fucking Zach?
Cameron imagined his roommate pounding into Jake.
Was Jake loving it? Was he on his elbows and knees getting fucked from behind?
He pictured Zach kneeling behind Jake, gripping Jake’s hips, and using his hole.
Cameron pictured Zach fucking Jake raw, and filling Jake’s hole.
Cameron’s dick hurt. He had kept his hands off his dick in a frantic effort to be a courteous roommate who minded his own business, but he was going to die if he ignored it any longer. He shoved his hand in his boxers and frantically began to jerk off.
There was a guttural shout on the other side of the wall. Cameron’s traitorous mind dredged up an image of Cameron on his elbows and knees while Zach used his hole. He ground his teeth and shot into his boxers. He gasped for air as his body wrenched with the force of his climax. Fuck fuck fuck.
Cameron shucked off his boxers and wiped up his mess before reaching for his earbuds. He put them in and turned up the volume. It was too little, too late. He’d jacked off to thoughts of his roommate, and he was going to have to live with it.
