Chapter 11

Miles

My eyes go wide. Damn, I like how bold she is.

“You’re right,” I murmur, my gaze dragging slowly over her body. “We’re both adults.”

Penny’s breath catches as I lean over her, my hand sliding up her thigh.

“Let’s see if what I felt that night was the whisky talking.”

I lean down and trap a nipple between my lips. Penny bucks at the contact, a soft gasp escaping her.

A sharp current shoots straight through my body, all the way to my hard cock.

Yeah.

Alcohol, my ass. This thing between us is raw. Pure fucking lust.

I keep licking and sucking at her nipple until her breathing turns uneven, then I give the same attention to the other. Penny falls apart beneath me, little moans and shaky breaths spilling from her lips and driving me completely out of my mind.

Her fingers slide into my hair and tug gently, silently asking for more.

Fuck.

I release her nipple with a pop and start trailing wet kisses down her chest and stomach.

Penny shifts beneath me, spreading her legs a little wider.

“I’d be lying if I said I never thought about how you taste,” I murmur against her skin as I reach her navel.

“I’ve thought about how well your dick would fit in my mouth,” she says in a breathy tone.

“Fucking hell, Penélope. Are you trying to kill me here?” I say in an almost agonizing breath against her lips.

“As much as I love this verbal back-and-forth we have going on. I really need you to focus.”

Did she just sound frustrated?

“Ask nicely, boss.” God, I love trading shots with her.

“Fuck you, Miles.”

A laugh rumbles out of me, and she jolts in place as a whine escapes her lips.

“Ask nicely, boss. And I’ll give you the best pussy licking of your life.”

“Bold statement. You do realize I’m older than you, right?”

“What’s that got to do with anything?” I ask, dragging my mouth lower to lick from her entrance to the clit.

“I don’t want to hurt your ego. But I’ve been with other men.”

“Were any of those fuckers better than me? Is that what you’re getting at?”

When she doesn’t answer right away, I lift my head.

Her gaze locks onto mine. A wicked grin spreads across her face, followed by a shrug.

Game. Fucking. On.

I pick up the pace with strokes across her lips. Penny’s panting only fuels me to keep at it. I focus on her clit, nibbling and sucking, then push a finger inside. She’s so wet, and tastes so damn sweet.

“Miles,” she pants, fingers tangling in my hair. She pulls without mercy too. Good thing I’ve got thick hair, otherwise I’d be bald at thirty.

“You like that, boss?” I whisper against her pussy. “I bet you’ll like this even more,” I add a second finger while my thumb plays with her clit.

“Fuck, yes. Like that,” she gasps.

I glance up at her. Her eyes are closed, but she’s smiling like she’s completely lost in the moment.

“You’re so fucking sexy, Penny Levine,” I tell her, my voice rough. “Let me hear you scream my name while you come on my fingers.”

That’s all it takes.

Penny moans my name, and every ounce of blood in my body rushes south.

I press myself against the couch, trying to find some friction, but it’s pointless.

“That was good, Miles.”

I press a kiss to her pelvis, trying like hell to get my breathing back under control.

“Good?” I glance up at her. “I think you can find a better word than that.”

A breathy laugh slips out of her.

I sit up, not even caring that she’ll notice the wet spot in my sweats.

Penny grabs my shirt and pulls it back over her head.

A part of me hates seeing her cover her beautiful body, but we can’t go any further than this.

This already crossed the line.

“No,” she says as she settles back against the couch, “but I’ll rate it. Four out of five stars.”

Instead of getting offended by the less-than-perfect score, I laugh.

“So there’s room for improvement?” I throw a wink as I get to my feet. “I’ll take it.”

Then I head to the kitchen before I do something stupid. Like drag her onto my lap and play bounce the boss.

I need some distance between us.

The faster I feed her, the faster I can get outside and clear the path so we can get to her car.

Because after whatever the hell just happened on that couch, I’m gonna need at least a full day to recover.

“That was fast,” I say as I climb into River’s truck after calling him to help me dig Penny’s car out of the snowbank. “Did you have someone plow your driveway?” Snow still clings to his boots and jacket like he came straight from checking on the animals before heading over here to save my ass.

“No, asshole. I plowed as soon as the snow ended.”

I lift an eyebrow.

“Yeah, I was up until three or four.”

I shake my head. “Your commitment to the farm is incredible, bro. Here I was thinking you were enjoying being snowed in with—”

“Finish that sentence, and I’ll dump your ass right here.”

I cackle, knowing I hit a nerve.

“Hey, it’s all good. I’m just wondering if you finally grew a pair and told Carly how you really feel.”

“For the love of God, Miles, shut your stupid mouth.” He lets out an exasperated breath. “I don’t even want to entertain this line of thinking, but if I don’t nip it in the bud, you’re gonna keep feeding your delusional theories.”

He sounds annoyed, but the way his hands fidget against the steering wheel tells me there’s more to it than what he’s letting on.

“Carly is the animals’ vet. Yes, I think she’s gorgeous.”

I bark out another laugh. “Just gorgeous? How about fuckable?”

“Fuck you, Miles. No, I don’t think about her that way,” he says, gripping the wheel hard enough for his knuckles to turn white.

“Okay, okay. Believe whatever helps you sleep at night.” I lift my hands in surrender.

“Whose car are we picking up anyway?” River asks, smoothly changing the subject. “Please don’t tell me it belongs to one of your one-night stands,” he adds, twisting his face in disgust.

I don’t answer right away.

Technically, Penny is a one-night stand. She’s not just a one-night stand.

Not after I buried my face between her thighs and came in my sweats like a fucking teenager.

“Fuck,” River groans. “I should’ve asked that before I picked you up. By now, I could’ve been halfway done shoveling Mama’s walkway and getting treated to hot coffee and fresh bread.”

“I’ll buy you breakfast at Cherry’s Cafe or the Rustic Spoon, whatever’s open, you whiny baby.” I shake my head. “But no, it’s not just any woman. It’s Penny.”

River’s mouth falls open. His eyes widen, though they never leave the road.

“Shit. That’s even worse.”

“Don’t I know it,” I mutter with a humorless laugh, dragging a hand down my face before letting my head fall back against the seat.

“Fuck, Miles. Gio and Xander will whoop your ass if you hurt her. I know she’s a grown woman and can make her own choices, but she’s been a huge part of getting the ice rink project off the ground.

Not to mention how close she’s gotten with Ruin and Rain.

” His voice shifts fully into big-brother mode.

“I know, River. Relax. Nothing happened. She worked late last night and tried to drive home after the storm started. Her car got stuck, and she called me. I offered to take her to Gio’s, but she refused. So I gave her one of the guest rooms and made her supper.”

The second the words leave my mouth, I realize how domestic that sounds. Hell, I’ve never cooked for a woman before. Not even family.

Still, I keep my face impassive.

When I glance over, River has one eyebrow raised so high it’s practically in his hairline.

“What?” I ask, already annoyed.

“Oh, nothing.” He grins. “I’m just here trying to figure out how my brother became a gentleman overnight.”

“Shut up, River. I’m always a fucking gentleman.”

He punches my bicep, and I laugh despite myself.

“Stop. We’re here,” I say as the tip of the orange cone I left by the car last night comes into view. Another couple of feet of snow buried everything overnight.

River throws the truck into park and hops out to assess how much snow swallowed Penny’s car.

“Come on, Miles. We’ve got our work cut out for us. Luckily for us, it’s mostly snow, so it’ll be easy to remove,” he says, tossing me a shovel the second I step out of the truck.

I catch it and head toward the front of the car, trying not to think about what River said earlier about Gio and Xander kicking my ass if they found out I was messing around with Penny.

I shake the thought away. We’re not messing around—it was just this one time.

I focus on digging the car out as quickly as possible. Maybe Penny will want to head home today. Honestly, that’s probably what’s best for everyone.

Even if my brain—and my dick—strongly disagree.

Because if it were up to me, she’d spend the whole weekend in my house.

In my bed.
