Chapter 5

Ember

He’s gone. He left me all alone in his house while he went to check on his horses.

I’d been so cocky when I finally emerged from my bedroom exactly fifty minutes later, suitcase after suitcase filled with more stuff than I’ll ever need, a full face of makeup, perfect hair, and a short dress that clings to my curves and sways over my thighs with every step, paired with high heels that make my legs look a mile long.

But Trace wasn’t even phased by it, judging by the bored look on his face.

Even on the plane, when I casually shifted my skirt higher on my thighs while he sat next to me, he didn’t even flinch.

The low cut of the dress, inches away from spilling my breasts out for the world to see, didn’t even affect him.

It did, however, attract the attention of most of the male passengers, crew members, and pilots on the plane.

The only crack in Trace’s composure came when one of the pilots crouched beside me and asked if I wanted to see his cockpit. The deep scowl and low growl from Trace sent the pilot rushing back to the cockpit alone. He acted kind of funny when I thanked him for getting rid of the pilot.

We drove in silence toward his ranch, which was fine with me since I was still recovering from the feel of his hands on my waist as he helped me into his giant truck. I know they say everything is bigger in Texas, but I almost needed a step ladder to climb into the cab.

When Trace noticed me struggling, he stopped loading my bags into the back of his truck and came around to my side to help me in.

Everything would have been fine until my dress flew up into the air, flashing Trace my panties.

It seemed to spook him, since he couldn’t get away from me fast enough once we got to his ranch.

He seems to scare easily—maybe being a bodyguard isn’t a good choice for him.

I continue processing my day as I finish my shower. I wasn’t sure what else to do when he left me here alone. A hot shower was calling my name, so I gave in, and I’m glad I did. The warm water on my body feels heavenly. So does the smell of his soap as I glide it across my naked body.

Lathering the soap between my hands, I set it back in the holder and rub my hands over my breasts, pretending it’s Trace’s hands caressing my body. I squeeze gently at first, then harder, as I imagine him behind me, his hard cock sliding between my legs and pressing up against my clit.

The fantasy feels so real that I don’t even realize I’ve slid one hand between my legs, rubbing my clit faster and faster until I’m shouting his name at the top of my lungs. Waves of pleasure crash over my body as my pussy clenches, begging for something to fill it up.

“Ember, are you okay?” The shower door flies open, revealing a concerned Trace staring at me in all my wet, naked glory.

“I heard you call my name. I thought you were in trouble and needed me.” He’s half right—I’m not in trouble, but oh, do I need him.

His eyes travel down my body, and I can’t stop my orgasm.

All I can do is bite my bottom lip and stare into his eyes as it runs its course, my body jerking on its own.

“Fuck.” He slams the shower door and walks out of the bathroom.

I take a few extra minutes to get my body under control before stepping out of the bathroom to face him. But as luck would have it, I didn’t bring any clothes with me into the bathroom. With a towel wrapped around my body, I make my escape from his bathroom to find him sitting on his bed.

“Sorry, I wasn’t sure which bedroom was mine. I just chose the closest one.” It’s a lie. I knew damn well whose bathroom I was showering in.

“It’s okay. It’s my fault for leaving before showing you to your room.

” His voice is huskier than it’s ever been, making me smile at the thought that he might be attracted to me.

“Your room is next door. I put your suitcase in there before I heard you scream.” He doesn’t add that I screamed his name while pleasuring myself.

He stands, barely meeting my gaze as he slips past on his way to the bathroom.

“I’m going to take a shower,” he says, dismissing me by slamming the door in my face.

It isn’t until I’m halfway to my room that I realize I didn’t pack any lounge clothes. I’ll have to have Trace take me shopping in town tomorrow, but for now I’ll have to borrow something from him.
