Twenty-Four Evelyn #3
"Oh," she mimicked back. "Now you have your safeword to use if anything becomes too unpleasant. The moment you say it your punishment stops, no questions asked."
"Mhm," I hummed back, not wanting to waste any more time.
"Evelyn."
"Yes, Vanessa,” I amended to appease her.
She began sliding the riding crop over my back slowly, giving me a moment to feel the cool faux leather against my warm skin. It tickled, but I knew better to squirm, or try to speed her up.
After a few more seconds, she lifted it off me, bringing it down on me. It had more of a bite than her hand, but she was bringing it down much slower with less force. She was careful to ease me into it, running the tip over me to soothe the areas, every few seconds.
Just as I felt myself sinking into a familiar trance, a loud ringing tore me out of it.
Vanessa glanced down at her phone on the table, rubbing soothing circles over my bottom with her palm as she did so. Her eyebrows raised, furrowing together as she glanced across her screen, putting the riding crop down beside me.
"Honey, I'm terribly sorry. I have to take this."
"It's okay," I whispered back, staying completely still, regardless, high on sensations.
With probing eyes, she leaned over, analyzing my face. The phone stopped ringing as she planted a kiss on my forehead. "I don't want to leave you like this in the middle of a scene, I'll take the call here, alright?"
I nodded, still leaving my hands together on the small of my back. I unclasped my hands as she took one of them in her own, calling the number back.
I was trying to process what they were saying based on Vanessa's replies alone. While her vague answers gave nothing away, it sounded serious. Instead of her usual sternness, her voice contained a rare twinge of fear. She asked questions about whatever issue was going on, never letting go of my hand. I couldn’t tell if she was holding on for my sake, or to soothe herself, maybe both.
Feeling cold from the chilly air on my exposed skin, I tried to pull the blanket over me without making a scene. With my free hand, I managed to untuck it from the side of the perfectly made bed. Vanessa made her bed in the morning, something I always found unnecessary.
As soon as I covered myself with the blanket, she ended the call. Returning her attention to me, she took notice of my attempts to warm up.
"Evelyn, are you dropping?" I shook my head, she just kept her AC unusually cold, it wasn't a side effect of anything we were doing.
I wanted to ask her about the call, because it left her visibly distressed.
But being her employee and assuming it was work related, there were things I wasn't supposed to know.
Even though we weren't boss and employee in the bedroom there were still discussions we couldn't have and lines we couldn't cross. So, I kept my mouth shut, trying not to think about it and the cold atmosphere it’d brought into the room.
Besides, my punishment wasn't over and maybe distracting her would be the best way to help.
"No, can we please continue now?"
She hesitated, pulling the blanket fully over me and moving closer to cradle my cheek.
"I'm not sure I'm in the right mindset right now, I just found out some difficult stuff.” I furrowed my brows in concern, contemplating whether to ask a follow up question. “With the company," she added before I could ask anything.
While it had nothing to do with me, the rejection still stung. More so, I felt something was going on and not being able to help her was uncomfortable. She was purposely being vague. If she had work to do with the company, she couldn't do it in front of me.
"Oh, should I leave?" I asked simply, averting eye contact so she wouldn't see the hurt in them and then feel bad about having to work.
I didn't want to be a liability or something holding her back and making her feel guilty about having a good job.
So reluctantly, I let go of her hand mentally preparing myself to get up and leave with an unfamiliar bad taste in my mouth.
"No, of course not. I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I don't want to spank you when my mind is elsewhere, I like being completely in control, without any negative emotions hanging over me. But I still want you here, what else do you need from me right now."
Relief flooded through me, as I reached over wanting to hold her hand again.
"Do you not have work to do now?" I asked hopefully.
"Not for a few hours, I'm going in late afternoon."
I smiled, pleased with her answer. "What if we go out somewhere? Or watch a movie together here?"
"Whatever you want, sweetheart. But it's raining pretty hard right now."
She gestured toward the floor-to-ceiling windows, where raindrops slid lazily down the glass.
Beyond them, gray waves rolled into the rocky shoreline, dissolving into white foam beneath a misty Seattle sky.
Evergreen-covered hills faded into the distance, and the steady rain wrapped the room in a warm coziness.
"Then movie, please."
“I would love that.” She beamed.
