Twenty-Seven Evelyn #3

I looked back at her quickly, causing the section of hair she was holding to be yanked. My hand reflexively reached to hold the burning portion of my scalp.

Vanessa let out a sadistic laugh. "Having your hair pulled doesn't feel very good, does it, honey?"

I huffed, reaching toward her hair. But before I could get a good grip, one of her hands shot up to my neck. She began tickling me, somehow knowing exactly where I’d be sensitive.

"Apologize," she reprimanded.

I kicked my legs, trying to throw myself off the couch. "N—n—n—no," I stuttered in between fits of giggles. I'd rather be physically tortured than apologize when she started this.

She looped an arm around my legs, bringing me closer as she began tickling my abdomen with that same hand. She was stronger than I was, leaving me completely helpless.

"Have it your way then, sweet girl," she whispered in my ear, her hand sliding to the bottom of my foot, where I happened to be the most susceptible to this torment.

The sensory overload surpassed my limits in a matter of seconds. "Kiwi, kiwi, kiwi," I screeched, the first word that came to mind in my distress.

She stopped the moment the first word passed my lips, taking her hands off me.

Still reacting, I rolled myself off the couch, my butt landing hard on the ornate white rug below us. The rug was soft, minimizing the impact. I lay there completely fine, getting my breathing back to normal.

Vanessa gasped, crouching down next to me with a look of horror etched across her face. "Are you okay? Are you hur—?" Her voice wavered as she tried to stay calm.

I burst out into a fit of uncontrollable laughter, making her freeze mid-sentence. Realizing I’d used my safeword for the first time over being playfully tickled—since I refused to say a simple sorry—was too much. And in my mind, the panicked look on her face was the best part.

Realizing everything was actually fine and seeing the blatant humor in the situation, she began laughing with me, doubling over until we both lay on the floor side by side.

Eventually, after cuddling for a bit, we both calmed down and were ready for the spa.

"I have some small things to give you before we leave," she said, zipping up her boots.

Small—she came back holding seven different bags from brand names I faintly recognized. I was hesitant to take them from her, having trouble believing they were all for me.

"Sweetheart, you can take the bags. They're yours."

I tilted my head, carefully considering her words. "Which ones are for me?"

"All of them are for you."

"Really?” I parted my lips slightly in surprise. “For me?" I repeated softly.

"Yes, my love. For you."

"Nessa, why did you get me all of this though?" I asked as I took them from her slowly.

"Because I wanted to."

I lay on my bed, surrounded by the bags I had yet to put away, too relaxed from a day of massages, face masks, and jacuzzies to be bothered. I scrolled over the job offer for what had to be the tenth time. I never wrote the woman back and was currently still giving Meghan the silent treatment.

Groaning to myself, I rolled off my stomach and began to unpack the bags, smiling as I pulled out all the pieces for the first time.

There were three lacy sets of lingerie in varying designs and shades, and two dresses similar to the one she brought me on the trip, which had become my favorite. There was also a shiny designer bag with a matching pair of heels, both very much my style. She obviously loved seeing me in her things.

Lastly, she got me citrus oil, lavender lotion, and a larger bottle of Calecim cream—the three products I’d used at her place.

Doing a final check before recycling the bags, I noticed a small jewelry box still in one of them. I opened it carefully, unboxing a pair of delicate aquamarine earrings. They were absolutely beautiful.

After putting everything away and putting the earrings on, I was in a better mood, and went back on my phone to finally text Meghan back.

Evelyn: I appreciate you looking out for me, but next time, don't do it when I'm with my boss.Meghan: Is this your way of telling me you applied?Evelyn: No. It's my way of telling you I forgive you.Meghan: Glad you came around in one way or another.

Next, I decided to thank the woman. It wasn't her fault my friend was insane. Plus, I hadn't actually read her full message—only the first two brief ones she’d sent that morning.

Unknown number: I could give you some more information over text if that's easier.

I work with wonderful, engaging students, and with the curriculum, I spend far more time teaching than grading.

The environment is warm and encouraging, and everyone there wants to learn.

The college is also highly rated in IT, and from what Meghan has said about you—which is a lot—I believe you'd be a great fit.

I swear I'm not sponsored, lol. But please do not hesitate to contact me. I'd love to hear from you.

Smiling at the text, I let myself picture my future there for a moment. But the line between what I imagined myself doing and what I inevitably let myself do had always been very thin.

I was going to apply.
