Thirty-Three Evelyn #3

"You didn't give me the command—I don't know what happened," I managed between ragged breaths, still unable to form a coherent thought as she continued uninterrupted.

"Honey, my mouth was busy, I wasn't going to stop to vocalize the obvious. I was intentionally pushing you over the edge, you picked up on that and complied."

Thinking about her words, they made sense. Similarly to how effortlessly she understood the needs I never put into words, I interpreted her implicit commands.

A few more seconds passed, yet she still didn't pull away. The sensation was quickly becoming too much, dragging me from my thoughts.

"Nessa... no more, please. Too sensitive," I pleaded softly.

"I'm just cleaning you up. I've left you wet for hours, I don't want you any more uncomfortable today," she assured gently.

"‘Mkay." I relaxed as she avoided using her tongue anywhere sensitive, doing only what she said.

Carefully, she sat me back up and pulled me into her lap, helping me slip back on my dress. I paused, reaching down my legs but not feeling any fabric. “Wait, where are my panties?”

She let out something that came remarkably close to a giggle, drawing my gaze upward. Even after being on her knees and between my thighs, her tongue conducting my body like a virtuoso, she remained impossibly composed, as though nothing could disturb her poise.

“In my purse. They are too destroyed for you to wear today anyway, so I’ll give them back when I feel like it”––she shrugged, not leaving any room for me to protest—“If I do.”

She straightened her shirt, the corners of her lacy bra having come into view revealing far more cleavage than would have been appropriate for work.

Work. Vanessa did this for me at work. I was beyond proud of how far she’d come.

"Are you going to tell me about the call?"

I forced my eyes away from her chest, meeting hers twinkling with amusement.

"Yeah, that you made it far more difficult than it needed to be." I frowned, though I couldn't be too annoyed, feeling more satisfied than I had in weeks.

"Which University?" she asked with genuine curiosity, paying no mind to my minor annoyance.

"Georgia," I answered less enthusiastically.

"Keep your options open, sweetheart. You already have two."

I hummed in agreement leaning against her chest in thought.

"What is it, baby?" she asked, stroking my hair she’d been careful not to make frizzy as she zipped me up all the way.

"I'm just happy, that's all," I admitted, the realization that this was my reality beginning to hit me.

"Me too, I actually wanted to ask you something. Would you like to come with me to my sister's New Year's party?"

“Yes, definitely.” I nodded enthusiastically, having been hoping we’d spend the holidays together. "Does she know about me?" I asked, wondering exactly how much Vanessa told her.

"No," she chuckled, sensing my nervousness. "But I'd like to introduce you. You're not going to be my employee much longer and she's very nosey when it comes to my personal life. I'm going to warn you, she's…a rather intrusive over-sharer."

I never minded being kept a secret, we were both private people so it worked, but I couldn't deny my excitement for that to change.

"Hmm, and touchy," I added after weighing my words.

"I have work to do now. Goodbye, Evelyn." She held onto my waist, lifting me upwards.

I only wrapped my arms more tightly around her neck, giggling as I halfheartedly kicked my legs in protest while she tried to set me down.

She never failed to surprise me with how strong she was.

The moment I reached up to tug at her hair in retaliation, she retaliated in kind by tickling me.

I immediately abandoned my rebellion, scrambling off her with another fit of laughter before retreating toward the door.

"Sweetheart, turn around for a second."

I did as I was told, watching as her eyes traveled over me with the same careful attention she gave everything else.

"You still have a bit more color than I'd like you leaving my office with," she concluded after a moment. "But you're excused."

Without another thought, she returned her laptop to the center of her desk as though I hadn't been sprawled across it only moments before.

"Wait." I paused with my hand on the doorknob. "Can I come over tonight, if it's not too last minute? I didn't expect things to calm down this quickly. I thought I'd still be sending applications, otherwise I would've asked sooner." I smiled sheepishly. "I miss spending the weekends with you."

She preferred having plans in advance, and I wanted to respect that.

"Of course, sweetheart. You don't need to justify yourself, especially not to me. I understand work being a priority and it's not a problem."

I nodded, realizing how many sacrifices in her personal life Vanessa must have made to be where she was. Instead of expecting me to put mine aside for her, she respected how important it was for me to build one of my own. She never treated my ambition like competition or distance.

"And, Evelyn," she added, "I've missed you too."
