15. Myheir #2
“My bad, Killa. But I do need to talk to you about the contract. You’ve been avoiding this talk since we made shit official.”
Her smile dropped, and she leaned back into the seat with her arms crossed.
“What do you want me to say, Big? I chose you, didn’t I.”
I reached out and placed two fingers beneath her chin to return her eyes back to me.
“That doesn’t mean what we agreed on doesn’t apply, Doll. Did you not fulfill the shit in the contract?” I asked.
“No, I didn’t. It was supposed to be fake, and here we are in a full-blown relationship. That wasn’t in that janky-ass contract.”
I lifted a brow. “No, where in the contract did it say things couldn’t become real? I made sure of that. I was feeling you the first time I saw you on this plane. And don’t be calling my contract janky, Doll. Hostile as fuck, keep it up, and we going to the back.”
She cracked a smile, then got serious again.
“I don’t want to take from you. I wanted to work for that money.”
“Who says you are not about to work for that money? I need you to be in there acting like I’m the best you’ve ever had and dated. Nah, all jokes aside. I’m not letting you struggle for another second. Not when I’m here helping fucking strangers, Doll.”
She shrugged and looked out of the window.
“You don’t get it. I have to get it honestly. If you give me the money now, I’ll feel like I fucked for it.”
I ran my hand down my face and groaned. I couldn’t change how she felt, and I didn’t know how I could get her what she wanted without her losing everything. She loves Stamped by Khaleya. Yet here she was willing to walk away from it because she wanted to experience a relationship with me.
I was going to figure this out one way or another.
“I hear you. We’re going to figure this out.”
She nodded, then laid her head on my shoulder. I reached out to grab my chilled bottle of Fiji water and took a sip. Then I placed it back on the table. I closed my eyes, hoping a nap would get my mind going.
An hour later, the pilot was waking us up, letting us know the jet would land soon. I hoped the surprise I had for Khaleya when we landed would get her spirits back up. I needed the smart-mouth version of my baby to make an appearance, and soon.
Soon we were getting off the plane and heading to the helicopter a few feet away from us. Khaleya looked back at me with wide eyes.
“Is that for us?” she asked, pointing at the helicopter.
I smiled and nodded.
She ran, jumping into my arms, then placed kisses all over my face.
Finally, my lips. I squeezed her ass, then let her back down as the driver let me know our bags would be at the hotel by this evening.
I’d gotten us a room in Florence, so we could shop today, then spend some time alone before being around everyone in the wedding party tonight for the rehearsal dinner.
We walked hand in hand to the helicopter.
The pilot helped us inside, then gave us our headsets.
Khaleya looked like a kid in a candy store.
I’d been in a helicopter a few times, but it felt different doing this with her.
After they gave the pilot the go, the loud whipping of the helicopter blades took over.
It rose, climbing high enough that we could easily see the rolling vineyard hills that appeared as freshly combed rows.
“Look! It looks just like the picture,” she called out, pointing out the staple Val d’Orcia.
I looked over, and clear as day we could see the single winding road up the hill with trees lining the way. I leaned forward, kissing her cheek. I could tell we had come up on Tuscany from the vibrant green and gold that came into view. We’d even passed what looked like a medieval town.
Thirty minutes had come and gone, a lot faster than I expected, as we made it to the landing pad in Florence. I stepped out of the helicopter first, then helped Khaleya. Then we made our way to the awaiting car.
“Today is all about you, Doll. We have a full day, and I even put my phone on silent. What do you want to do? We can shop, and it’s on me, baby. Let me treat you the way you deserve.”
Khaleya pretended like she needed to think about it. But I knew she would be down for a good time.
“How much money are you talking about spending?” she asked with a raise of her brow.
I laughed, because she’d just made me watch Pretty Woman not too long ago. So I knew this was nothing but one of her tests.
“An obscene amount of money.”
“How obscene?”
“Really offensive.”
Khaleya burst into laughter and did a dance. “Good job, Big.”
I shook my head and followed her into the backseat of the car I’d arranged.
We went to over five different shops and had them send the outfits back to the room. By the time we finished, it was late, and I was ready to lay the hell down. We finally made it back to the room in time to get in the shower, and all our things were there.
Khaleya plopped down onto the bed, and I stood in the doorway, admiring everything that was her.
“Did you have a good time?”
She sat up and tilted her head to the side, causing her curls to tumble over with the movement.
“Big, what time is it?” she asked.
I raised a brow but looked down at my watch. “6:30 p.m., Doll. Why?”
She stood from the edge of the bed, then began stripping until she was naked. Then she walked over towards the bathroom, stopping at the door to glance over her shoulder.
“We got a little time for me to show you just how much of a good time I had. You coming?” she asked, biting her lower lip.
She didn’t need to tell me twice as I started pulling my clothes off, causing her to giggle.
“You know damn well I’m coming, and don’t turn that damn water up too hot. Last time, you almost burnt the skin off my back.”
Damn, this was my new reality, and I loved every second.
