Chapter 39
Ben
“That was amazing,” Charlie’s breath is a tickle on my neck as I slowly slide her back down the wall, slipping out of her in the process.
“Yeah, it really was.” My voice is gruff.
I’m completely dazed. She’s incredible. So beautiful. Finally coming together that way just felt so ... right. Like another piece of my fucked-up brain puzzle has snapped into place. I’m probably just pussy drunk but I think I might love her.
“You still with me?” Charlie teases
I smile down at her, “Yeah firefly, I’m still with you.”
I kiss her and feel her smile against my lips.
I don’t want to let her go but reluctantly do, only for the briefest of moments to grab some soap.
I take my sweet time washing Charlie, luxuriating in the soft little moans that escape her as I do.
She grabs the soap from me and returns the favour.
Her touch feels like electric currents against my skin.
It's overwhelming but in the most wonderful kind of way. I savour the feeling and even though she moves slowly and deliberately it’s over way before I want it to be.
I’m starting to get what the guys mean about Charlie being an inexplicable, intoxicating addiction.
I kiss her again. And then again one more time because I can’t help myself before I pull away to grab us some towels.
I wrap Charlie’s around her gently before drying myself off and getting dressed.
When I look back over at her, she’s hopping around doing some weird little dance trying to get her bra back on
“Do you need some help?” She’s adorable when she struggles with her clothes.
“Yes please,” she answers earnestly. “I think I’m twisted up in the back.”
Charlie keeps dancing around while trying to reach around her back, so I make my way over to her and put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. “Hold still, I will fix it.”
With a gentle tug, her sports bra snaps into place and she lets out a little breath. I let my fingers linger on her back for a few more seconds before she turns around to face me.
Charlie’s brows furrow with concern. “How are you feeling?”
I smile at her. “I’m good. I promise. There might be some mental health hell to pay later, but that’s my problem, not yours. You were great and I am so freaking glad that I didn’t let Andy take you away.”
“Yeah, me either. But I am very excited for this weekend!” She admits.
“Me too.”
Once we’re fully dressed, we make our way back out to the gym and I notice that the guys have wisely already left. “Are you hungry?” I ask Charlie.
“Starved.” She grins at me as I hold the front door open for her.
“Shit, I think I left my keys inside. I’ll be right back.”
“Sure. I’m just gonna wait out here. You know ... cool down a bit,” Charlie giggles.
I hurry back inside and find my keys lying on the bench right where I left them. Charlie also never grabbed her coat. I know she’s trying to cool down but knowing her she is going to get cold fast. I snatch that too and quickly make my way back outside.
Charlie’s not where I left her ...
I walk over to my truck, thinking maybe she decided to wait for me there, but I still don’t see her. My chest tightens. Charlie wouldn’t just take off. Where the fuck is she?
A screech of tires catches my attention, and I notice a car speeding away. My heart drops when I recognize the car. That’s the same, rusty piece-of-shit car I saw Chuck standing beside when I fucked him up the first time.
Fuck. FUCK FUCK FUCK.
