Chapter Three

Zallan

“They found a match!” Wells blurts as soon as the door is open.

Nara, our third, looks up from where he is chopping vegetables for dinner. His rich blue hair is tied up, draping smoothly down his back, and his face lights up. “Truly?”

“Truly,” I answer, crossing the entry so that I can join him in the kitchen.

“What’s this now?” Ryson, our second, enters the home behind us. He must have seen us returning from where he was fixing something or other in his workshop. I place the satchel I’m carrying on the counter.

“An omega!” Wells’ tail is fanning back and forth excitedly and it makes me bite down a smile. “They found a match!”

Ryson blinks, the astonishment clear on his teal face. “It’s been nearly two revolutions since we did the final testing.”

I shrug, pulling out the packets of information from the cloth bag and passing them around. “I’d have waited longer for a matched omega,” I say, already itching to learn about him or her.

I open the file with “Aleron Gathea” on the top.

‘Gathea’ is our pack name; these documents have been created specifically for us.

“A human being from the Class C planet ‘Earth.’ A female,” I read out loud as my eyes dart over the page.

“Ohhh,” Wells purrs, tail swinging faster, “We’re getting a female.”

I take in the outline of a Celnoe alpha, horns clearly delineated, and the small curvy outline next to it. She’s the size of a youngling!

“Hornless?” Ryson asks, clearly looking at the image as well.

“Perhaps only the males of their kind have horns?” Suggests Nara, as he peeks over my shoulder, still holding the kitchen knife.

I feel my tail droop. She’s tailless, hornless, and tiny. How could she possibly be a match for four Celnoe alphas?

Ryson flips through his packet. “They have quite a lot of information on humans. They’ve been in the Concord for almost nine revolutions. Several are matched and mated with Adreth and Dosoria packs.”

“Oh, look, animations!” Wells slides a sheet forward and presses his thumb to it. A scene flickers to life, two faceless, naked, three-dimensional ‘humans’ standing on the document.

“The males,” Nara says, using a horn to point to the larger one as he goes back to chopping. “They are not much larger than their women, and hornless as well.”

The male animation turns in a slow circle. They are smaller, but shaped similar to our males. The female turns and we all stare. It has curved hips and a rounded, heavy chest, unlike the females of our species.

The animations lay down and spread their legs. We all lean in.

“Zatura has blessed us,” Nara breathes, as the animations then begin to mate.

“We have a lot of reading to do,” I say quietly.
