29. Epilogue
Zoric had spent most of his time on the secret base in a state of low-grade panic. His entire life, everything he”d known, had been changed in the last few weeks. Things he”d spent his entire life defending had been shown to be so much trash.
And yet, he was in a remarkably good mood.
The depressing reality of what he”d expected his future to be had been destroyed along with the monster who had kept him and his people under his thumb for centuries.
All the things he”d done at that monsters command and because he didn”t know a different way ate at him but he”d been offered a chance at redemption.
And a hope for something better.
Because Ae-cha wasn”t the only one who had been along for the ride in the conference room. Zoric hadn”t meant to keep the connection but he hadn”t immediately shut it off, either, and what he saw was amazing.
A human woman could love and desire a Chelion. Their bond was real and natural without the forced connection he”d been told his entire life it would require.
Where Ae-cha had been embarrassed, Zoric had been in awe.
So, when the Orvax doctor asked for his help with a couple of patients, Zoric hadn”t hesitated to agree. He”d be working with Marissa and Cooper, of course, and a couple humans who had been identified as having been compromised.
He was excited.
He was terrified.
He couldn”t wait.
