True Feelings #9

Lisa sighed, “No one understands my pain.” I shrugged, “Because you caused it yourself.” Lisa looked down, “It hurts Lady seeing them together.” I snorted, “I bet Lady blames you for that. It sucks for her that she’s stuck with you, but Aunt Haley could fix that.”

Lisa looked up shocked, “You can’t tell her to take my wolf! I’m going to be your Luna.” I sighed, “Wow. So, you’re still delusional.” Channing snarled, “If we weren’t ready to pick up mate, I would shift.” I still struggled to control that urge.

I ground out, “You’ll never be my Luna, and I think Lady deserves better than you. I think you know Aunt Haley would take Lady and give her to a better human half. That’s probably why you don’t want to meet her.”

Keith and Bryce came outside. Bryce groaned, “Take a hike, looney tunes. We have dates to go see. Shoo!” Lisa whispered, “Keaton, don’t go with to the dance with Katie. Please. I’ve suffered enough.” I snorted, “My girlfriend has nothing to do with you.”

I flashed by her and got in my truck before she could touch me. Bryce popped Keith in the truck. Bryce sighed, “I can’t believe that girl wants anyone to feel sorry for her.” Lisa yelled, “I DESERVE BETTER THAN BEING A LEAD WARRIOR'S WIFE!”

I rolled down the window, “Kreed has Alpha blood, you psycho.” Lisa startled, “What?” I snorted, “On both sides of his family The Henderson’s and Farmer’s, have Alpha blood.

You should’ve taken him as the gift the goddess intended, but I’m glad you didn’t.

Annie has always loved Kreed, and she’s like family to me. ”

Bryce rolled down the window, “Stay away from Kreed and my sister. They’ve been in love forever and even you know that.” Lisa tried a different tactic, “I know. They are like Keaton and me. Why doesn’t everyone understand us, if they understand their love?”

Channing growled, “No.” I snorted, “They are second chance mates who should’ve been mated the whole time. They are actually in love and neither abuses the other. We are nothing to each other and that’s final. Go away.” I threw the truck in reverse and headed to Odette’s.

I couldn’t help but smile. I said, “I can’t wait to see Katie, it’s been too long.” Bryce snorted, “You saw her last night.” I told him, “Immy insisted the girls have a sleepover when I wanted to be the one sleeping over.”

Bryce snorted, “Then none of the girls would’ve gotten ready on time.” I winked, “Nope, not even slightly. We might have missed the dance.” Keith snorted, “Can you drive faster? I miss May too.” I smiled, turning the truck onto Odette’s street. I was going to make this a night to remember.

Making Connections

Odette was panicking. Why the hell did I tell Keaton I loved him? It was true, but if Keaton said thank you after this kiss I’d die. RIP Odette. He didn’t though, my boyfriend replied in kind. I couldn’t believe we were in a roller skating rink declaring our love.

Sassy was happily humming her tune, definitely smugly. My inner consciousness was such a strange smug, little thing. The whole date was a whirlwind and amazing. I couldn’t believe my boyfriend had bought and renovated the place just for me.

That was definitely some crazy thing that never happened except in the movies. This was such a big gesture. Maybe I was imagining it. What if I was in a coma and imagining all this? Well, if I was then I didn’t want to wake up.

We had to leave so I could get work. Immy came out yelling. Jeez. I didn’t realize Lisa would be served the restraining order so quickly. I hoped Keaton didn’t get mad at me for getting one against his ex, but it was necessary.

Immy pulled me into the store. My friend squealed, “You filed a restraining order?! What got you one? Did you bat those beautiful eyes and say please?” I snorted, “No, that doesn’t work.

” I took out my phone and showed her the video.

Immy grabbed it from me, tapped buttons then yelled, “What a bitch!”

Immy got on her phone and yelled, “Malachi! Did you …? Well watch it! Lisa’s so far out of bounds it’s insane.” I looked at my phone noting she didn’t send the video to anyone that I could see. I guess she could’ve deleted it.

Immy came back to me saying, “OH! I’m getting into her house and putting blue dye into her shampoo.

She CANNOT rock blue hair. I, personally, would crush it along with you.

Lisa can’t pull off blue or green. OHH I’ll turn her hair blue and her body green because she’s a jealous bitch!

” I laughed, “Calm down, Immy. It’s ok.”

Immy took a deep breath, “So, what happened the other night? Because Keaton used to be so far up Lisa’s ass, he couldn’t tell which way was up. Yet the man came back from your sexcapades and barely remembered her name.” Oh god, they knew I did something.

Sassy was somehow singing her song smarmily now. What was up with Sassy? I told Immy, “It’s complicated.” Immy snickered, “It’s sex and you apparently are very good at it.” I blushed, “Well, Key is good at it so there’s….”

Someone yelled, “I KNEW IT!” I snorted as a girl from school ran out of the bookshop.

Immy said, “You know Lisa is full of it, right? She won’t kill you.

” I acknowledged, “I don’t think she is full of it.

Lisa’s already tried to kill me once. She pretty much said she was hoping I died. Now, she’s actually threatening me.”

I paused then admitted, “I don’t think she’d do it herself. Lisa would be present with her friends, but she is absolutely capable of orchestrating my death.” Immy frowned, “She wouldn’t dare.” I said, “Well, if I die go after her first because she absolutely had something to do with it.”

Immy gasped, “Don’t joke about that. That’s terrible! You can’t die.” I pointed out, “I’m taking steps to protect myself so you don’t need to worry.” Immy huffed, “I do better with fun things, but I can worry like a champion. Besides, when I worry, I go all petty hijinks on people.”

Before I could ask, the bell over the door rang indicating a customer. I turned greeting, “Hello, welcome in. Can we help you find anything?” Immy gasped. I asked her, “Are you ok?” The guy said, “Hi, I’m Sean.” Ok? No one asked.

Immy whispered, “I’m Immy Miller.” They didn’t say anything else. I offered, “I’m Katie, not that anyone asked.” Sean snapped out of his staring contest, “Right. That was rude.” I laughed, “Don’t worry about it. Do you need a book, Sean?”

The guy answered, “I could. Do you have any books about Fairies?” Immy choked on air. I asked, “Like Supernatural books? We have plenty over in the fiction section that Immy can take you to.” I bumped her. My friend blinked and looked at me.

I gave her the ‘go see the cute guy you clearly like and help him’ look. Immy said, “Right, yes. The fiction section.” I whispered in her ear, “He likes you. Is that your secret boyfriend?” Immy shook her head, “No, but he will be.” I teased, “I like the confidence.”

I turned back to Sean saying, “How rude of me. I didn’t say my last name, it’s Karlton.

What’s yours?” Sean sighed, “I don’t really like giving out my last name.

I’m not affiliated with my family.” I asked, “Why would that matter?” Sean looked at Immy, his eyes were begging her to understand something.

Sean continued, “I’m actually hiding from my family. My brother took me and my siblings when I was quite little away from our family. We have nothing to do with them, or anything they do.” Good lord. Was his family in the mob too?

Was that crowd suddenly drawn to me? Like a moth to a flame? Did I just attract those with mob ties? Did Jag have mob ties? God, this conspiracy theory had gotten so far out of hand. Sassy felt amused, but she shouldn’t. That would be quite dangerous for our health.

Immy whispered, “Please don’t say it.” Sean reiterated, “I have nothing to do with them. I swear an oath to you.” I asked, “An oath? Oh gosh. Are your families like rival rich people?” They looked at each other with an expression that said I was right.

I groaned, “This is totally a rich person problem. Your great, great grandparents or something don’t like hers.

Are you the Miller’s and whatever Sean’s last name is version of Romeo and Juliet?

” Sean answered, “If Immy wants to be yes, but with a better ending. Their ending was no fun, and without hijinks.” We were back to that word.

Was that something rich people said and it had different meaning?

Immy was uncharacteristically frozen. I gently said, “Hey, he swore an oath. Like he was from a different century and everything.” My friend didn’t say anything. I told Sean, “Give us a minute.” He nodded, “Take all the time you need. I’m not going anywhere.”

I pulled Immy to the back. I asked, “Do you want me to kick him out?” Immy answered, “No. I just don’t want to hear his last name.

” I told her, “That’s silly, you clearly know it.

Besides, I’m getting a sincere vibe off him.

What’s his aura like?” My friend loved talking about aura’s. I’d use that to get her mojo back.

Immy said dreamily, “Perfect. It’s so shiny and matches with mine. He’s so handsome.” I advised, “Then go talk to him.” Immy sighed, “His last name is going to be a problem. No one around here will give Sean a chance. I can’t believe he’d even come here.”

I sighed, “I haven’t met a person around here who is THAT closed minded. We are not our family. If people judged me based on my mom, I’d have problems. She’s horrible, but I like to think I’m pretty nice myself.”

Immy cracked a smile. I shrugged, “It honestly seems like Sean came in here specifically to meet you. You seem pretty taken with him. Give the man a chance.” Immy chuckled, “You’re so nice!” I snorted, “That’s me. Now, go talk to Sean.”

Immy sighed and we walked out. My friend lit up when she saw Sean again. Immy said, “You’re still here.” Sean smirked, “I told you I would be.” Immy asked, “Is your last name O’Toole?” She whispered it as if the walls might hear her.
