Creepy Song #3
Emmett linked, “KEATON DANIELS!” I asked, “What?” My big brother said, “Hands. Don’t shift.” I looked down and realized my hands had started to shift. Huh. Well, what could you do? Channing grumbled, “Shift and kill him.”
Giz said, “We can put protections on Katie. I assume she would wear a present from your cousin.” He pointed at me. I growled, “I am Katie’s boyfriend and I have a necklace I wanted to get Katie anyway. I’ll get it to you.” I’d found a pretty necklace with a note on it.
Giz nodded, “Ok, we’ll place protections on it. The tricky part becomes the intense lock around her mind. Imagine it as a band. You don’t want to snap the band, but Katie thinking about Supernatural things causes the band to tighten and gives her a headache.”
Channing hummed, “I could call out to Oden to give this guy a headache.” It wasn’t the worst idea really. Giz prattled on, “Katie’s mind is giving her the ability to fight it after all this time. True love, rather fated love, is usually the reason for that.” Everyone looked at me.
I linked Tyler, “So, I already didn’t like him. Now, I see my choice to avoid him was the right one. I hate this guy too.” Tyler nearly laughed out loud. I asked, “So there’s nothing you can do besides the protections?”
Giz shrugged, “My coven and I will research it further. I worry about the Witch is dream walking to Katie. We need to work on mind defenses, but we can’t really explain that how we normally would.
” I growled, “Great.” Channing huffed, “So he’s annoying and useless.
Kill him.” I was leaning towards doing so.
They stayed and talked about Odette while I growled occasionally. Rya linked me, “They are just trying to figure this out.” I replied, “Katie’s not a science project! She’s a person.” Rya nodded, “I agree other than we call her not Katie.” I rolled my eyes.
Tyler cleared his throat, “Let’s just step outside.
” Dad grabbed my arm, and Uncle Cameron grabbed the other.
I did a double take asking, “When did you get here?” Uncle Cameron snorted, “Me, your Uncle Ollie AND my dad all got here while you paced and look like you were going the murder the coven members for talking about your…” He trailed off.
Uncle Cameron asked, “Are we really still saying girlfriend?” Grandpa Frank laughed.
I growled, “She IS my girlfriend.” Uncle Cameron sighed, “Sure.” Uncle Ollie said, “Pups these days.” I pointed out, “You’re not that much older than me.
” Uncle Ollie raised a glass of whiskey smirking, “But I’m an old soul. ” I rolled my eyes.
Dad said, “Might I suggest, going to see your girlfriend, Keaton.” Channing huffed, “Might I suggest they stop using that tone?” He could but they wouldn’t.
Grandpa chuckled. I growled, “Might I suggest someone remind Rya’s cheating former ex-boyfriend, that my girlfriend is not his damn science project!
” Then Channing forced a shift and growled.
Emmett flashed out asking, “How did you guys make it worse?” Dad snorted, “Us? This wasn’t us. We got him out of the house.” Uncle Cameron snorted, “It is mildly impressive given how often Keaton is shifting that he didn’t inside.”
Channing growled at them. Dad demanded, “Pup, shift back.” I did and someone snapped shorts on me. I growled, “Katie is a person and they can figure out what’s going on with her without treating her like she isn’t!”
Uncle Cameron admitted, “He’s got a point.
Other than her name is not Katie.” Would people stop saying that?
! Grandpa Frank urged, “Let’s just go for run by the lovely not Katie’s apartment.
Keaton will shift and go inside. We’ll keep running while we worry about your mother.
Because it’s what we do.” I sighed and shifted again.
Channing grumbled, “Why did we even shift back?” I had no idea and waited for the rest of my family to shift. We stuck to the woods. When we reached Odette’s apartment, I grabbed some shorts I’d stashed and ran in.
Ken sighed, “Oh, good. You look happy and not at all like you’re furious. What now?” I growled, “Witches.” Ken asked, “Are we being the Princess Luna of Black Mountain? Is there where I say are bitches?” I snorted, “Sure.”
I ran up to Odette’s and knocked but I couldn’t hear her inside. I didn’t hear her heartbeat either. I linked dad, “Katie’s not here. Is mom back?” Dad growled, “No and she’s not answering my link either.” Fuck this day.
I called Odette to discover she was running from someone. GODDAMNIT. I linked my family, “Odette’s being chased.” I ran outside and shifted the second I could. Channing took over and easily caught our mate’s scent.
My family wasn’t far behind me. I ran across Odette in wolf form. Channing was practically prancing. Keith linked, “She’s not screaming, that’s good.” That was true. Channing was a big wolf. My mate wasn’t moving towards us which had Channing whining.
My wolf was quite smug that had Odette made moving towards us. He was back to preening. When Odette touched us, Channing was in heaven. Keith linked me, “Your mate is talking to your wolf in a baby voice, and you don’t even care.”
I growled, “Don’t even ruin this moment for Channing. It’s his first time interacting with her in wolf form.” Keith replied, “Fair enough.” Channing snapped out of it when our mate said she had her rabies wolf. FUCKING JAG!
Channing snarled, “MINE!” Channing was satisfied she thought we were better looking than Jag. I linked Emmett, “Could we please find that guy?” Emmett smugly asked, “What’s the matter? Don’t you like your girlfriend’s rabies wolf?” I snarled, “She’s not his! She’s….” I trialed off.
Emmett urged, “Please do finish that sentence.” Odette took off running. Fuck. My dad linked me, “I feel the need to point out, not Katie doesn’t know she’s getting the thrill of the chase going for you.” Whatever. My blood pounded with need.
I grabbed shorts and took off after her. Keith linked, “And we are running again. This time in the opposite direction of you.” I could care less. I easily caught Odette. Things got hot and heavy. My mate was moaning and pleading with me. Shit.
I linked Emmett, “Come back!” Emmett asked, “Are you ok?” I groaned, “NO! Get back here right now!” I could hear them coming. Channing whined, “Mate wants us to mark her. She may not know, but she’s asking for it. Please Keaton, mark mate.”
I gritted my teeth, “We can’t. She doesn’t know what it means.
” Emmett linked, “We are back. Why are we here?” Odette started talking about them.
She thought there was a pack around here.
Channing grumbled, “There is a big one.” My mate did think we were the best looking. Several snorts were echoing in my link.
Keith linked me, “Not Katie asked you to mark her, didn’t she? That’s why you asked us to come back.” I asked, “Is it really asking me to mark her if my mate doesn't know that’s what she’s asking for?” Keith shook his head back and forth then said, “What did she say?”
I replied, “She said Key, please.” Keith thought about it, “I think it counts. Mom hasn’t checked in. We are going to the Shroud to get news. We will wait outside her place for you.” I nodded and got Odette back inside.
As I was leaving, I heard my mate mutter about someone with long nails. My heart actually stopped. Odette explained what she saw and I ran outside. Dad asked, “Where’s the fire?” I growled, “Katie saw a woman with long nails in the woods.” Everyone snarled.
We shifted and ran to the Shroud. I was through in a flash, running to my uncle’s house at full speed. Emmett beat me by a few seconds. He yelled, “MOM!” Relief flooded through me when I saw her standing there looking confused.
Mom asked, “Yes?” I ran and pulled her in for a hug. Mom questioned, “What’s wrong?” Dad yanked her out of my arms. Grandpa had gotten through the Shroud too, so had Uncle Cameron and Uncle Ollie. Keith must have led them through.
Grandpa Frank sighed, “Lexi, I swear you take years off my life.” Mom laughed, “I have no idea what I did.” Dad growled, “How about not answering my link?” Mom smirked, “I was a little busy at that exact moment.”
I asked, “Did you run into a Mintor?” Mom asked, “How would you know that?” I answered, “My girlfriend said she saw a woman with long nails in the woods.” Uncle Heath asked, “Did not Katie say anything else?” I shook my head.
Mom snorted, “I met your girlfriend.” I asked, “In your BA gear? She didn’t look scared when we saw her.” Uncle Heath snorted, “Not Katie was not even remotely scared. She met me too as the Hood. When I got there, she was swimming to the bottom of that ridiculously randomly clear pond.”
“Your girlfriend has quite the impressive lung span and oxygen capacity. She got your mom her bow and was mad when I flashed away from her with it. She just HAD to help your mom. She felt it.” Everyone looked at me.
I growled, “Everyone needs to stop giving me that look.” Mom said, “I like not Katie. She’s very pretty, brave, and can also keep confidences. She could’ve told you she met the Robin Hood society.” I snorted, “Is that what she called you guys?”
Uncle Heath confirmed, “Basically. To be fair, she might have something on that. I could easily see where the comparison came in.” I hugged mom again.
She told me, “I still want to meet not Katie as myself. We could have a small lunch, dinner, coffee, or anything. I’m open to any, and all, options. ”
I smiled, “I’m sure we’ll make that happen.
” Uncle Cameron snorted, “Yeah, she’ll have to be at his graduation since she’s his girlfriend.
” That’s true. Mom groaned, “Why, Cameron? Why on earth would you even put that out there as an option? It’s March and May is so far away.
Who knows what will happen between now and then. ” Channing snickered in my head.
