” Dad went to her and held her in his arms. I disagreed, “It’s not your fault, little sister.
We’ll explain everything to Odette. We’ll call in the Bishop siblings, and… .”
Ken winced interrupting me, “About that, Odette’s not here.” Clara sighed, “A Beta did not get read in.” Malachi agreed, “No, we did not.” I snarled, “Where the FUCK is Odette?!” Kreed said, “The techy muffin Luna went after her. They are friends.” It hit me.
My mate could punch like Melanie because Melanie trained her. I yelled, “MOTHERFUCKER! Odette’s friend that was in love with Alexander is Melanie Fucking McAlister! You’re shitting me right now.”
Kreed winced, “Uhh, no.” I asked, “Did Melanie take Odette to her apartment or their pack lands? I can explain….” Allison cried, “They found her car.” I yelled, “She drove?!” Ken said, “Odette wanted to get her license to surprise you.”
I asked, “Did she crash? Is she in the hospital? Odette can just be the forever passenger Princess in my car. Driving is not her strong suit. Someone, get Aunt Haley. NOW!” Allison cringed, “She was forced off the road. They took Odette, and no one could pop and get her. They hit a wall.”
Channing snarled, forced a shift, and took off running for Black Mountain. Alexander had to be able to find Melanie. Which meant I could find Odette using his connection to his mate. Emmett linked me, “Keaton, wait!” Dad linked, “Son.” I snarled back at them both.
Odette was in hurt and in trouble. Channing snarled, “Mate was kidnapped.” I charged into the Conners’ house. I heard Emmett yell, “KEATON, just wait a second!” I replied, “There is not a literal, SINGLE chance I will do that.” Someone snapped clothes on me.
My gaze landed on Sierra Kiern, “Where is Melanie and where is MY MATE?” Alexander asked, “Wait, what?” Nathan Conners growled at me.
Channing asked, “What’s Herb’s problem?” I replied, “I don’t know, ask him.
” Channing snorted, “It doesn’t matter to me enough yet.
Maybe when we HAVE MATE BACK it will!” Fair.
Dad linked, “That’s really how you’re going to tell the family Odette’s yours?
We knew but as far as official announcements go, that sucked.
” I didn’t bother replying. Uncle Eric asked, “Dad, what’s wrong?
Why are you growling at Keaton? Don’t growl at my godson.
” Emmett said, “Apparently, our pack was attacked. Keaton’s mate, thanks for the heads up little brother, it’s… .”
I growled interrupting him, “Shut up. You knew she is mine. We need to find her!” Nathan growled again. Channing huffed, “He needs to stop because I’m pretty sure I could take him right now.” I groaned, “Let’s not do that.”
Channing growled, “I will be on a WARPATH until mate is back.” I told him, “I agree buddy, but Nathan had nothing to do with that.” Emmett said, “Anyway. Our pack was attacked and Keaton’s mate showed up. She didn’t know about Supernatural’s.”
Emmett continued, “She showed up to see Keaton for some reason when he was not there. Allison was being attacked by a rogue. Katie, whose name is not actually Katie, shot the rogue who turned back into a human.”
“Not Katie, as we call her, helped the pack fight then took off. She was apparently very freaked out after seeing wolves turn back into people. Also, not Katie was calling herself a murderer. So that’s going to be fun to explain.”
Channing whined, “Mate thinks she’s a murderer.” I could easily correct that notion if I could just get a damn answer on where Melanie was. Alexander asked, “What’s her real name?” Sierra answered, “Odette. Her name is Odette.” Right, because they knew her. My ears were actually ringing.
I asked Sierra, “How do you know her, Beta Female Sierra?” Emmett linked, “You’re not really listening to the full conversation, little brother.” No, I wasn’t. I also DID NOT CARE IN THE SLIGHTEST! Channing agreed, “Conversations are superfluous until mate is back.”
Sierra sighed, “Odette’s our friend. She used to sing with The Rebels sometimes.” I admitted, “I had no idea.” Nathan snarked, “Clearly.” Something prickled at the base of my spine as I looked into his eyes. Something was there, but I couldn’t grasp it.
The Conners were in shock. Channing linked, “You might want Thor to stay in shock.” I asked, “Why?” Channing answered, “I’m having suspicions. If I’m right, Thor needs to stay very firmly in the shock area.”
I snarked at Nathan, “Who peed in your Cheerios? You know what? I don't care. We need to find Alexander’s mate to find mine.” Aunt Haley pointed out, “Nathan doesn’t have any cheerios. Why would anyone pee in cheerios? That’s disgusting.” Channing agreed, “That is true.”
Nathan admitted, “She’s my daughter.” Eric shouted, “I’m sorry. What? You have a daughter? I have a sister? And…” Eric trailed off then shouted, “WHAT?” I felt glass break in my head. Isaac whispered, “Son of bitch! That’s it! That’s why she looks so damn familiar.” It was.
Channing admitted, “That exactly why I thought Thor needed to remain in shock. He’s given us sex advice about his sister.
” I linked Keith, “Did that feel like glass breaking in your head?” My twin nodded.
I snarled, “Magic.” He agreed while I went into denial, “You can’t be Odette’s dad, Nathan.
Odette doesn’t have a wolf, and you don’t have a blood disorder. ”
Sierra winced, “Oh boy.” Nathan whirled around growling, “How did you not smell the wolfsbane and silver on those pills, Keaton Daniels? We’ve had them tested and that’s what was in them.” I actually faltered. How could I not scent that?
Channing snarled, “THEY HID MY MATE FROM ME! I’LL TEAR THEM TO PIECES!” Great. The point was, how did I miss that? Was Lisa right? Was I a bad Alpha? Any wolf should’ve scented one of those let alone the combination.
Keith linked, “Hey, don’t you dare spiral right now.
It was magic. I didn’t smell a damn thing wrong with those pills either.
None of us did. Odette needs you right now.
” Ok, that was true. Dad linked, “No one that entered that apartment smelled those. They were even in her mailbox and Ken scented nothing.” Ok, that did make me feel better.
Sierra defended me, “We are not going to do that. You’re going through a lot, Nathan, but what we aren’t going to do is blame people who don’t deserve it. Paige said there were very powerful spells to conceal the smell.”
“No one in this room, who was around those pills, could smell those scents either, including your super scenting grandpups. Someone told us about the silver and wolfsbane. Even touching them didn’t burn or hurt us. I know you are very rightfully upset, but this is not Keaton’s fault.”
Eric yelled, “HOLD THE FUCK ON! You have an eighteen year old daughter?! What the fuck, dad!” I jumped in, “Odette just turned seventeen.” Eric deflated, “Oh. Right. I knew that. Well, that’s a little better, but I repeat: what the fuck, dad?
! How could you not tell us we had a sister?
We would’ve had her here! She would be safe right now. ”
The answer that he didn’t know about Odette was obvious.
Nathan explained, “I didn’t know. Now that I’ve seen her picture Herb and I know that’s our pup.
I had no idea. I thought it was your mother.
I…” Nathan trailed off, “I was so drunk and I thought I imagined it. I didn’t know it was real.
The woman looked just like your mother. I just missed how we used to be so much and… ” The man broke down in tears.
Channing snarled, “This doesn’t get mate back!” EJ asked, “How did anyone who met Odette fail to realize she’s somehow my aunt if Melanie did?” Sierra explained, “As soon as Mel said it, it felt like glass breaking in my head. It was so obvious.” That. Exactly that.
Alexander asked Sierra, “Where is Melanie?” Yes, this was someone on my level. Our mates were missing. Sierra answered, “As I said, I don’t know. Mel went after Odette.” Alexander asked, “How fucking long could it take to track down a girl who was scared she saw a Werewolf shift?”
Sierra winced, “Odette was kidnapped.” I linked Keith, “Did we get how the hell that even happened? Was it Luke?” Keith replied, “I was with you. So, no. I don’t have that answer.” Right. Aunt Haley snorted, “Of fucking course she was.” Then popped and got thrown back.
That somehow bought about the fact that Cassandra knew. Honestly, I couldn’t be bothered with that. The woman was dead, so I didn’t care what she did. Cassandra Conners was a bitch from everything I’d gathered. As far as I was concerned, the woman could rot in her grave.
Or I could dig it up and set her remains on fire and take them to Faerie. That had promise if Aunt Haley hadn’t already done that. Cassandra would turn over in her grave to be finally resting in Faerie. I just bet Aiden Holloran would love every second of that revenge had it not already been done.
Then they started talking to Arion Holloran. Channing growled, “The dead man needs to find mate IMMEDIATELY!” If he could. Jayden popped in with Finn who promptly walked over to Dylan. Finn shot me a worried look.
Dylan cooed, “My god, Finn. THE DRAMA. Nathan’s secret love pup has been revealed to the room and himself.
I missed how MelAshley dropped that bomb on good old Nathan.
