THE TRUTH BENEATH THE RUINS
Elyan told them everything.
Varian had discovered the prophecy before the children were born.
He believed the twins together would possess enough power to challenge the royal council.
So he arranged for the children to be separated.
Elyan was taken to the monastery.
Elena was sent east.
Their mother had tried to stop him.
"She survived," Elyan said.
Aldric stared at him.
"What?"
"Our mother survived the attack."
Elena's heart raced.
"Where is she?"
Elyan shook his head.
"I don't know."
Varian had kept her alive as leverage.
The siblings followed an old map to the ruins beneath the mountains.
There they found a chamber containing the original prophecy.
Elena touched the stone.
The entire room illuminated.
Words appeared.
Two children shall carry the first blood.One shall bear the crown.One shall bear the voice.Together they shall awaken the kingdom.
Elyan looked at Elena.
"You are the voice."
"And you are the crown."
Aldric stared at the inscription.
"Then what is the danger?"
Another line appeared.
But if divided by hatred, their blood shall become the weapon of their enemy.
Aldric understood.
"Varian wants us divided."
A voice echoed from the entrance.
"Not anymore."
Varian stepped into the chamber.
Behind him stood dozens of soldiers.
The siblings stood together.
Varian smiled.
