Chapter 2

I woke to the sound of my alarm clock beeping.

I don't feel like going to school today, maybe I should just ditch.

Maybe not. I don't really feel like getting another lecture about skipping school from my dad today. There will be plenty of other times for me to do it then. Although, I will be graduating soon.

I turned off my alarm clock and headed into the bathroom to take a shower.

After that, I went downstairs to grab some breakfast.

"Morning." I said to Jake, my best friend and also my beta, while I put some pancakes and bacon on my plate.

He just gave me a head nod to acknowledge me because his mouth was so stuffed with food he couldn't actually say anything.

We sat there eating together for a while and speaking of mundane things before Jake's mate came to join us.

His mate was a beautiful girl named Hannah.

She had dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Jake met her shortly before he turned sixteen, so they've been together for over a year.

Hannah is already four months pregnant and you could see her little baby bump.

Everyone is excited for them to have a baby.

Though most mates wait to have pups until after high school, no body would condemn them for having a baby at such a young age because they were mates and having children with your was seen as inevitable.

I watched as Jake put his hand on her tummy and kissed her cheek. I knew that they'd both be great parents and I loved seeing how excited they were for the baby.

Though I was happy for them, I couldn't help but to feel a pang of jealousy whenever I saw them together. I know that I'll find my mate some day and we'll be just as madly in love as them, but I can't stand not knowing when I'll find her.

Sometimes I imagine what she'll look like and how she'll act towards me.

Would she be a short and timid girl or would she be a tall she-wolf who matched my strength?

Would she laugh at my lame jokes or roll her eyes and tell me I'm acting stupid?

The endless questions about my mate couldn't be answered until I met her and I was becoming impatient.

After finishing our breakfast, we left the pack house and drove to school.

As soon as I got out of my car, I was met with multiple stares from girls standing nearby. Most of them left me alone, knowing the only girl I'd ever be with was my mate, even if I haven't even met her yet.

I don't think my mate would appreciate me sleeping around with other girls, so I made sure my admirers knew I couldn't be with any of them.

I walk into the school, ready for the long day ahead of me.

The rest of the day was boring. Nothing new or exciting ever happens at school. The same things happen each and every day. We go to class, the teachers teach, then we go home.

Jake and I were talking as we walk into the pack house, but my dad cut our conversation short when he called me into his office.

I'm slightly worried that I might be in trouble, but I can't think of anything I've done recently that might've been wrong.

If I'm not in trouble, that means that he wants to talk to me about boring alpha stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I love this pack and I want to lead them but all of the meetings and the paperwork are just so exhausting.

"What do you need, old man?" I asked sitting in one of the chairs across from his desk.

"Don't call me that. It's disrespectful, son."

"Sorry, sir."

"We're going on a business trip tomorrow." He tells me.

"What kind of business trip?"

"Well, the Dark Shadows Pack needs our help. There have been a lot of rogues spotted near their borders lately and we're going to see their alpha and discuss sending some of our warriors over there." He explained.

"How long will we be there?" I asked.

"Just for a few days." He said.

"A few days?! But my friends and I were going to go out to the cabin tomorrow night!" I exclaimed starting to get angry.

"I guess you'll just have to cancel or reschedule." He said calmly.

"No! You knew that we've been planning to go for a month! The only reason you're making me go on this stupid trip with you is because you don't want me to have fun and go to parties anymore! You want me grow up now so that you can resign your alpha duties and leave all the work to me!" I shouted.

"How dare you accuse me of such a thing!

The alpha just called me about this today, it is important and I need you to come along.

I'm not trying to keep you from having fun, but your duties as the future alpha of this pack are more important than partying and hanging out with your friends. " He told me.

"Bullshìt!" I shouted as I began to storm out the room.

"I am your father, Sean, and you will not disrespect me by talking to me like that! Tomorrow you are going to meet the alpha with me!" He yelled after me.

I got to my room and slammed the door shut. I jumped onto my bed and mind linked all the guys that I wouldn't be able to go to the cabin with them.

Most of them said that it sucks to be me or that I'm going to miss out on a great party.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't upset, but I couldn't go against my dad's orders. Reluctantly, I started packing for the trip with my dad.
