Chapter 26
Carly POV
I woke up a lot earlier than I would've liked to. If only school didn't start in the morning. I didn't want to go to Sean's old school today.
I knew that Sean wanted me to go though, so I got out of bed for him.
It had been admittedly harder to fall asleep without him there with me, but managed to get a decent amount of sleep regardless.
I walked into the kitchen and saw Sean sitting there eating a bowl of Froot Loops.
He had small bags under his eyes, which made it obvious that he didn't sleep very well last night. Even though he looked tired, he was still gorgeous.
"You look like crap." I told him sitting down.
"Yeah, I know. I didn't sleep well last night. Did you?" He asked me.
"I slept fine." I told him with a shrug.
"Can you sleep in my room tonight?" He asked.
"Ok."
He just smiled at that.
I opened my mouth and he silently fed me some of his Froot Loops.
We left for school a little while after that.
I'd never admit it to him but I was actually excited to meet his friends today.
We finally arrived at his school and he held my hand as we walked.
As we were walking through the halls, I noticed a lot of people were staring at us. I wasn't sure why. Some of the girls were even glaring at me. I didn't even do anything to them. It seemed as if everyone hated me no matter where I went.
I stood on my tippy toes to whisper something in Sean's ear. He leaned down a bit so I could reach him.
"Why are all the girls glaring at me?"
"They're jealous." He whispered.
"Of what? Me?" I was confused.
"Yup. You're the most beautiful girl here and you're holding hands with me. Of course they're jealous of you."
"I guess." I said unsure.
I felt nervous as I looked around to see all the glares coming my way.
"Just ignore them." Sean told me.
"I'll try."
We finally got to the classroom that held the first class of our day. Sean and I went to sit at the back of the class.
It was a few minutes before the rest of the class and the teacher came in.
I didn't understand what the teacher was saying since I had missed her other lessons, but luckily I Sean kept me company through my confusion.
Apparently, his dad arranged for me to attend all of Sean's classes. He didn't have to but it was really nice and I was grateful.
History was the first class we had with any of Sean's friends.
"I'd like you to meet my best friend, Jake." Sean introduced me to the brown haired guy sitting in the desk next to us.
"Hi, I'm Carly." I said giving an awkward little wave.
"Nice to meet you, Carly. Sean has told me so much about you." Jake said holding out his hand for me to shake.
"What has he all said about me? I hope nothing bad."
I gave him my hand and he held it while placing a gentle kiss on the top of my hand.
There was nothing I could do to prevent the heat that rushed through my cheeks in reaction. I could've sworn that out of the corner of my eye I saw Sean glaring at Jake.
"He's only told me good things about you. I was excited when I heard Sean was bringing you back with him." Jake told me.
I think I like Jake. I only hope the rest of Sean's friends are as nice as him.
"Thank you." I said just before class began.
We sat through the rest of history class miserable before we were able to go to the cafeteria for lunch.
We got to the table and I was introduced to a bunch of Sean's other friends.
Hannah was Jake's girlfriend. I was at first surprised to see that she was pregnant, but I was really happy for them. They are both so nice and deserve to have the joy a child could bring to them.
Then I met Nick and Cain. Nick was a goofy blonde. He began cracking jokes as soon as he met me. Cain on the other hand was the most serious person I've ever met. He was also a giant with jet black hair. He was over a head taller than me and never smiled once throughout lunch.
Nick also had a girlfriend, while Cain did not. His girlfriend's name was Sasha. She was a bit feistier but I liked her.
Lunch was actually fun. I liked hanging out with Sean's friends.
"I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." I told him.
"Wait. Let me take you." Sean said.
"No. I think I can make it to the bathroom on my own just fine." I said.
"But-"
"Actually, I have to go too. I'll come with you, Carly." Sasha said getting up.
Her offer seemed a bit odd to me, but Sean seemed relieved that I wouldn't be alone so I didn't question it.
Sasha strode into the first stall when we entered the restroom. I was about to step into a different one before some girl stopped me.
"So you're Sean's slut for the day, huh?" She asked me.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"You know. That boy is such a player. Has a different girl in his bed nearly every night." She said.
Sean's never been like that around me. Maybe he was when he still lived at home.
"He's not like that."
"If you really believe that, you clearly don't know him as well as you think you do."
"Well he's different with me."
"You're so naive. He's just trying to get in your pants. And once he succeeds, he'll get rid of you." She told me.
"That's not true." I tried my best to deny it.
"Of course it is. No one would want you. And he doesn't either, especially when he finds out what a horrible lay you are." She said.
I began to cry and I left before I could hear anymore horrid things she had to say about me.
I came out of the school building and started to walk towards Sean's house. I had nowhere else to go and luckily his house wasn't too far from the school.
I didn't want to believe the girl from the bathroom but it was hard not to.
All my insecurities began to eat at me. I was still covered in bruises and ugly scars. Once he sees how I really look underneath my clothes, he'll think I'm repulsive and won't want anything to do with me.
I assumed Sean had been with other girls before me, but hearing it confirmed made it hurt so much worse.
Maybe I was lucky that she warned me before I did something with Sean I'd regret later. Everything between us must've been a lie.
