CHAPTER 11 #2
The room is lit only by the city. His bed is a dark plane against glass. The photograph of Elise faces away from us now, placed flat on the shelf with quiet respect.
I touch the open collar of his shirt. “Can I?”
“Yes.”
I undo the first button, then the second. His breath changes when my fingers reach his sternum. I open the shirt and push it from his shoulders.
The scar under his ribs is longer than I thought. I trace its edge.
“Knife?”
“Yes.”
“The night Elise died?”
His hand closes around my wrist, not to remove it but to hold me still. “Not tonight.”
A boundary.
I nod. “Okay.”
His grip eases.
He pulls my sweater over my head after I lift my arms. The cool room touches my skin. His gaze follows it, hot and unsparing.
I am wearing a black bra Noor ordered from my purchase history. The irony is almost enough to make me laugh.
Julian slides one finger beneath the strap at my shoulder. “May I?”
“Yes.”
He lowers it. Then the other. He unhooks the bra and lets it fall.
For a moment he only looks.
The intensity of it makes me want to cover myself and arch closer at the same time.
“Say something,” I whisper.
“You are more dangerous than the system.”
“That is not about my breasts.”
“No.” His hand cups one, thumb drawing slowly over the sensitive peak. “This is.”
Pleasure pulls a sound from me.
His eyes sharpen at the evidence. He touches the other side with equal patience, learning pressure and response. When I lean into him, he takes my nipple between his fingers and pinches just enough to turn pleasure bright.
“Color?”
“Green.”
He repeats it harder.
I gasp and grip his shoulders.
“Again?”
“Yes.”
The next pinch sends heat down my body. He watches my face through it, control fixed on me rather than the act.
I slide my hands lower, over the hard planes of his abdomen to the waistband of his trousers. His muscles contract.
“May I?”
“Yes.”
I open the button and zipper. He is already hard, the shape of him unmistakable beneath black briefs. My mouth goes dry.
Julian catches my chin before I can look away. “Do not perform for me.”
“I was going to touch you.”
“Because you want to?”
“Yes.”
“Then look at me while you do it.”
The command moves through me like a current.
I wrap my hand around him through the fabric, then beneath it. He is hot, heavy, and controlled only in the way a drawn weapon is controlled. His breath leaves slowly through his nose.
I stroke once.
His fingers tighten at my jaw.
“Again,” he says.
I do.
The power in giving him what he asks is not the power I expected. It is not surrender. It is access granted and witnessed.
He kisses me harder, then turns us so my back meets the bed. He lowers me instead of pushing. My trousers and underwear follow with a sequence of questions and answers that make each inch of bare skin feel chosen.
When I am naked beneath him, he remains standing for one breath, looking down.
The city reflects him behind the glass: tall, scarred, half undressed, built from shadow and restraint.
“What?” I ask.
“I am memorizing what I am not allowed to record.”
The sentence should bother me.
It does.
It also sends heat through the center of me so sharply I press my thighs together.
Julian notices.
He kneels between my knees.
“May I touch you here?” His fingers rest on the inside of my thigh, not yet moving higher.
“Yes.”
“Green?”
“Green.”
He spreads my legs and traces upward. When his fingertips reach me, the first touch is almost gentle. He finds how wet I am and closes his eyes for half a second.
“Julian.”
His gaze returns to mine.
He slides one finger through me, slow and exact. Pleasure lifts my hips.
“Stay still,” he says.
I try.
He circles the most sensitive point with his thumb until my hands twist in the black sheets. Then one finger enters me. The stretch is small, intimate, devastating under his attention.
“Color?”
“Green.”
A second finger joins the first. He works them inside me with patient control, watching every change in my face. When he bends them, pleasure tightens so suddenly that I curse.
His mouth touches the inside of my knee.
Then higher.
“May I?”
I know what he is asking. My voice comes out unsteady. “Yes.”
He lowers his mouth to me.
The first stroke of his tongue wipes thought clean. I jerk, and his forearm settles across my hips—not trapping, only holding me against the pleasure I asked for.
He learns quickly. Of course he does. Every breath, every tightening muscle, every broken sound becomes data he uses against me. He alternates his tongue with the pressure of his thumb, fingers moving deep and steady until the room contracts to his mouth and the edge building inside me.
“Julian, I—”
He looks up without stopping.
The sight of his face between my thighs breaks something.
I come hard, one hand fisting in his hair, my body lifting against his arm. He keeps the pressure exactly where I need it until the pleasure becomes too sharp and I pull once.
He stops.
Immediately.
The obedience inside dominance leaves me shaking.
He rises over me. His mouth is wet. His eyes are darker than the room.
“Color?”
I touch his face. “Green.”
He removes the rest of his clothes and reaches toward the drawer beside the bed. He pauses.
“Condom?”
“Yes.”
He opens one and rolls it on. The practical movement makes everything more real.
When he returns between my thighs, he supports his weight on one arm. His other hand holds my hip.
“Do you want this?” he asks.
“Yes.”
“Say what.”
The demand sends a fresh wave of heat through me.
“I want you inside me.”
His control frays.
He guides himself to me and enters slowly. The stretch is fuller than I expect. I breathe through it, hands tightening on his shoulders.
“Yellow?” he asks.
“No. Wait.”
He goes perfectly still.
I adjust around him, every inch making me acutely aware of the size and weight of him. When the tension eases, I roll my hips.
“Green.”
He thrusts once, deep and controlled.
Pleasure catches under my ribs.
Again.
He sets a rhythm that feels less like motion than possession translated into the only language I agreed to hear. One hand captures both of mine above my head, not restraining until I curl my fingers around his.
“May I hold you there?”
“Yes.”
His grip closes.
The room narrows. His body. His breath. The hard drag inside me. The city beyond glass and the unlocked door at my side.
I chose this.
The knowledge makes everything hotter.
Julian lowers his mouth to my ear. “Tell me who opened the door.”
“I did.”
“Who stayed?”
“I did.”
“Who decides when this stops?”
“I do.”
“Good.”
The praise lands where his hand cannot reach.
He drives into me harder. I meet him, no longer still, taking the force and asking for more with my body. His control breaks by degrees: breath roughening, rhythm deepening, my name becoming a warning in his mouth.
I am close again. He feels it and shifts his hand between us, thumb finding the swollen point he learned earlier.
“Come for me,” he says.
It is an order I want.
The climax tears through me. I cry out, gripping his hand above my head. My body clenches around him until his face loses every careful line.
He thrusts once more, twice, then holds deep and comes with a low sound against my throat.
For several seconds, neither of us moves.
The house remains silent.
No locks. No monitoring voice. No system translating us into risk.
Julian releases my hands and checks my wrists as though he could have bruised them with permission alone.
“Color?” he asks.
I laugh, breathless. “After?”
“Especially after.”
“Green.”
His forehead lowers to mine.
The gesture is so tender it frightens me more than anything else tonight.
I touch the silver at his temple. “The door stayed open.”
“Yes.”
“Good.”
He looks toward it.
Then he looks back at me with the terrible focus of a man who has found something he does not know how to release.
“You can leave,” he says.
I understand the effort inside the words.
I pull him down beside me instead.
“Not yet.”
