CHAPTER 30 #3
His fingers trace the scar in my right palm, then travel up my arm, over my shoulder, and down the bare line of my spine. No sensors measure the shiver. He feels it because he is touching me.
“Tell me what you want.”
“You know.”
“No models.”
I look back at him. “I want you to make me obey what I chose.”
His hand closes around the back of my neck.
“Then face forward.”
I place his hand at my throat.
He keeps the pressure at the base, exactly as agreed. His other hand slides beneath the lace at my hip and finds me already wet.
“Prepared,” he murmurs.
“For my husband.”
The title affects him more than any ownership word ever did. His fingers move between my thighs, slow once, then harder when my hips follow.
“Do not move,” he says.
I still.
He strokes me while the open windows carry the city through the room. Every circle of his fingers pulls heat tighter. When I begin to chase the pressure, his hand stops.
“What did I say?”
“Do not move.”
“Can you obey?”
“Yes.”
“Whose choice?”
“Mine.”
He begins again.
The restraint comes from my own muscles, from holding myself still while pleasure builds, not from a lock or a band. Julian watches my reflection in the dark glass. I watch him watch me and know there is no recording beyond memory.
“Please,” I say when the edge becomes painful.
“Please what?”
“Let me come.”
“Not yet.”
I make a sound of protest.
His mouth touches my ear. “Color?”
“Green.”
“Then hold.”
He removes his hand.
I turn, furious and aroused. “That was cruel.”
“Accurate.”
I reach for his belt.
He catches both wrists in one hand and raises them above my head. “Did I give permission?”
“No.”
“Ask.”
“May I undress you?”
“Not yet.”
His mouth closes over mine before I can answer. He kisses me against the open window frame, hard enough that the city disappears. One hand keeps my wrists together. The other cups my breast through lace, thumb working the peak until I arch.
“Still green?”
“Yes.”
“Say it clearly.”
“Green.”
He releases my wrists.
“Now undress me.”
I open his shirt, kissing each strip of skin I uncover. The scar beneath his ribs. The pale line at his shoulder. The place at his throat where his pulse accelerates when I use my teeth.
He lets me remove everything except control.
When he is naked, I take him in my hand. He is hard enough to make restraint visible in every line of his body.
“On the bed,” he says.
I go on my knees.
“Not that way.”
He turns me onto my back and spreads my thighs. The black lace tears under his hands after I nod permission. His mouth descends between my legs with none of the teasing patience he used at the window.
The first stroke of his tongue makes me cry out.
He holds my hips down and takes me apart with precise, relentless pressure. I grip the sheets, the headboard, his hair. When I try to close my thighs, he opens them wider.
“Julian.”
“Color?”
“Green. Please.”
This time he does not deny me.
He pushes two fingers inside me and curls them as his mouth closes over the most sensitive point. The climax breaks through me, hard and bright, my back lifting from the mattress while he holds me exactly where I chose to be.
Before the last pulse fades, he rises and reaches for the drawer.
I watch him roll on the condom.
“Turn over,” he says.
I do.
He lifts my hips and enters me from behind in one slow, deep stroke.
The fullness steals my breath.
“Color?”
“Green.”
“Louder.”
“Green.”
His hand returns to the base of my throat, no pressure, only possession transformed into a shape I can accept or end. He begins to move.
Each thrust drives me into the sheets. He keeps the pace controlled until I push back against him.
“What do you need?” he asks.
“Harder.”
He gives it to me.
The bed strikes the wall. The mechanical lock does nothing. The key waits beside us. I could reach it. I do not.
“Tell me whose choice,” he says, voice roughening.
“Mine.”
“Who has root?”
“I do.”
“Who can stop this?”
“I can.”
“Do you want to?”
“No.”
His control breaks at the answer. He drives deeper, one hand at my hip, the other sliding beneath me to find me still sensitive. Pleasure builds again, tangled with the force of him and the absolute certainty that every second continues because I say so.
“Come for me,” he orders.
I do.
My body tightens around him. His name breaks from me as the second climax rolls through, slower and deeper than the first. Julian follows with a low sound against my shoulder, holding himself over me until the tension leaves us both.
For several breaths, neither of us moves.
Then his hand opens at my throat.
“Color?” he asks.
“Green.”
He withdraws carefully, disposes of the condom, and returns with water and a warm cloth without being told. Dominance ends where we agreed it ends. Care remains.
He lies beside me and touches the ring on my finger.
“Wife,” he says, testing the word.
“Husband.”
“Are you staying?”
I glance at the locked door.
“Tonight.”
“And tomorrow?”
“Ask me tomorrow.”
His mouth curves against my shoulder. “I will.”
The house remains silent because neither of us needs it to answer.
Outside, every window is open to the city.
Inside, I choose the lock.
