39. Making Plans #2
Staring out at flower gardens, she seemed the most content I’d seen her in a while.
Raising an eyebrow, she glanced away from me. “You know, a professor from the college approached me while I was working. We talked for a while, and it was nice.”
I tipped my chin. “Male or female?”
Her neck snapped to look at me with a furrowed brow. “What difference does it make?”
“Makes a difference to me.”
She gave a cute little huff. “Well, it didn’t make a difference to me that Miles was talking to me. He’s the art director at the college. I saw his work in high school and really admired it. It was nice talking to another photographer.”
Little prickles bit at my neck. “Is that so?”
Her eyes flared. “Don’t take that tone with me. I can talk to whomever I choose.”
I leaned in a little, crowding her. “Never said you couldn’t. Don’t mean I like it, though.”
Poutily parting her lips, her forehead wrinkled. “You don’t like that I talked to another man? What about at the fire the other day? I was talking to men all afternoon.”
Leaning back, I kept my arm behind her to stay close. “That was different. I know those people. Buck and Hal ain’t gonna touch you. None of them in town would make a move on you because they know you’re mine.”
Her voice raised two octaves as her eyebrows shot up. “Excuse me?”
I shrugged. “In their eyes, anyway. We went on a date. No one in town will cross that line now.”
She sat fuming for another minute. “Well, Josh would.”
I snorted.
“Want to bet on it?” she asked, seething.
“He may talk big, but he wouldn’t do anything neither.” He’d better not or we’d have more than words. “There’s a code about things like that.”
Leaning close, she challenged me, her breasts bumping into my chest. “You think you have some sort of claim on me, Paul? What would that be?”
My whole body screamed for me to tell her how I much I cared about her. How I wanted her to be in my life, but what could I say? Since the words wouldn’t come, I did the next best thing.
Grasping her head and crushing my lips against hers, I told her how I felt with a kiss instead. As she responded to me with as much urgency, the words didn’t matter. The whole world didn’t matter.
By the time I pulled back to see how she felt about that, she was gasping for breath. Her cheeks were pink, her chest heaved against mine, and her body quivered under my palm on her cheek.
She squinted up at me. “Where can we go?”
I dove back in for another kiss as I thought about it. The sun was fading, so I picked up the blanket and led her to my truck.
“What about my car?” she asked, hesitating at the truck door.
It was probably better for her to drive separately. “Okay, follow me.”
After walking her to her car, I jogged back to my truck and led her to that ground that was for sale where I took her a few nights ago. It was still light out, but if I pulled in backward, we would be shielded from the road down in the truck bed.
But then the thought hit me. What if they got the rain we’d had down south?
Would the place be too wet and get both of us stuck?
It sounded like a later-me problem, so we drove down the gravel road until we reached the lot.
This time the For Sale sign was gone. Had it been sold?
Or maybe the sign came down in the storm.
Pulling in backward, I didn’t go in too far on the land. There was a small danger in that, but we were less likely to get stuck closer to the road. Maggie did the same, then hopped out and jumped into my arms. I spun, crushing her against the truck with the weight of my body.
With my lips against her smooth skin, I murmured a few words I hoped would help quell her quest for feelings. “Been thinking about you so much since our date.”
Her hands dug into my scalp, the feeling like a shot down to my cock. “Me too.”
Pressing her hair away from her face, I pulled back and studied her. She was absolutely perfect. My heart squeezed at her eagerness. I pushed my shaft into her core, making her sigh as I dove in to kiss her neck.
“Paul, please,” she murmured, jutting her hips toward me.
Setting her back to her feet, I grabbed the blanket and spread it out in the truck bed. Then, I lifted her up into it and hoisted myself up to join her.
Our shirts vanished, then we wiggled out of our pants until we just knelt there appreciating the view of each other. But our magnetism didn’t allow that for long. As we came together in a passionate embrace, I lowered her back to pleasure her in every way.
Once she was thoroughly ready for me, I pulled on a condom before breaching the lower lips of her sex.
With her persistence, I was finally enveloped by her molten heat.
Tonight, the sun had mostly faded in the sky, but it was still bright enough that we could see each other.
Instead of moving inside of her right away, I fought the urge so I could study her face.
She was flushed from her arousal and multiple orgasms, but her eyes were so bright and desperate for me.
Suddenly, I had to know. “What’s your number?”
Her brows wrinkled. “My what?”
I bit my lower lip, struggling not to thrust when she felt so good. “How many men have seen you like this?”
“Paul,” she complained, glancing away.
I brought her chin back to look at me. “I need to know.”
“Let’s say our numbers at the same time, then.” I opened my mouth to protest, but she shot me a glare. “It’s only fair.”
My hips circled a little as nerves gathered in my belly. “Okay, then 1, 2, 3 …”
In unison, we said, “Only you.”
Our eyes widened at the implications.
She let out a puff of air, tilting her hips a little further and wrapping her legs around my waist. “Wait, I’m your first?”
“And I’m yours.”
I meant that in so many ways, but I didn’t know how to tell her how much she meant to me. Would I ever find the words to tell her how much more this was to me than sex?
Surging forward, Maggie pressed a kiss to my lips, distracting me.
From the way she gripped my arms, she needed me just as much as I needed her.
So, I pulled her legs up on my shoulders, then plunged into her over and over, bottoming out every damn time.
The truck rocked. Sweat slicked our bodies.
And the compulsion to be inside of her kept me going.
With all the love in my heart, I claimed her like I had the right as I brought her to the brink.
Her eyes wildly sought mine as we chased to the edge of that beautiful cliff and soared over it together.
