Chapter 14 #5
Lucy smiled, her tone teasing again. “Don’t get soppy on me now. Go to bed before I change my mind.”
Davina chuckled. “Yes, ma’am.” As soon as they were about to leave, Mandy entered holding a sleeping, Erin.
She nodded at Lucy and Davina and whispered, “she's fast asleep, so we will catch up in the morning”. Lucy nodded, grateful that she could just go to her room and relax, or so she thought.
Lucy turned off the last lamp and made her way upstairs. The house was quiet now, everyone had settled and every door was closed.
When she stepped into her bedroom, Byron was already waiting, half-sitting against the headboard, shirt unbuttoned, that familiar dark look in his eyes.
He didn’t speak. He didn’t have to.
Lucy closed the door softly behind her, locking it with a click that echoed faintly through the silence.
“Rough night?” he murmured, his voice low and edged with something primal.
“You could say that” she replied, walking toward him.
Byron’s gaze followed every step she took, his breathing deepening just slightly. “You’ve been holding it in,” he said, his tone quiet but certain. “All that energy… you need to release it.”
Lucy tilted her head. “Yes”
A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
She smiled slowly, letting down her hair.
“Stay right there” he said, “Do not move”
He walked up to her slowly, and put his hand around her throat, pushing her back against the door.
“Pull down your shorts” he ordered her, his hand still in the same place.
Once she had removed her shorts he grabbed hold of her wrists, pulling them high above her head, his hands, so big, he only needed one of them to hold her in place.
Byron was a towering six-foot seven over Lucys five-foot three, he pulled her up until his face was right next to hers, her arms stretching, her feet lifted high off the floor.
"I'm going to fuck you now” he whispered close to her ear.
she let out a soft moan, that made his dick throb with excitement.
He ripped off her panties and quickly without hesitation lowered her on to his throbbing hard cock.
“Fuck you're so tight” with his free hand he held her in position as he fucked her hard against the door, “Byron, what if someone hears us”, he growled, walked her over to the other side of the room with his dick firmly in place and sat on the edge of the bed, “ Keep your hands up high, and do not for one second let them fall” as she sat obediently, he pulled her pyjama shirt apart, exposing her hard nipples, he licked them both very gently.
Teasing her, making her shiver, he started sucking on them harder his dick throbbing inside her, Lucy started to whimper louder, he put his hand over her mouth and used his other to play with her clit as he sucked her breast whilst his dick sat comfortably in her now throbbing wet pussy.
. She started to leak down his thighs, and he knew it was time to release her from this beautiful nightmare.
He turned her over and threw her on to her stomach, “ rest your arms now, I'm going to cum” It was hard for Byron to hold out, he had built up so much tension from the day before he knew he wouldn't last long, It was the most perfect condition for him, wet!
Exactly how he likes it. He came inside her so deep and so hard that within a few seconds he was arching over her, sweat dripping off his body, both breathing hard.
Byron tried to remove himself but he was far too weak to do so, lucy, too weak to talk, mind linked let's just lay like this, for a while Byron used every ounce of strength he had left to move them up to the top of the bed, where he collapsed into a deep sleep, where they were both, still connected in more ways than one.
Chapter 11
Staying in bed was no longer an option for Lucy and Byron as they just received a text the Doves and Damien had arrived back. Lucy sat with Corey and Byron in the study, the low light from the fire throwing restless shadows across the table.
When the door opened, the tension broke like a thread. Ethan came in first, hood pulled back, damp hair falling over his forehead. Damian followed, quiet as always, and behind them was someone Lucy didn’t recognise “Patrick,” Ethan introduced simply.
He dropped a folder on the table it was thick and worn from travel.
“More questions than answers. We followed every lead your uncle’s name touched, but the deeper we dug, the more we realised he doesn’t just have a lab, he has shell corporations, false directors, medical fronts, even charities.
They’ve been burying research under layers of legality and lies for decades. ”
Lucy leaned forward, scanning the papers. “You couldn’t trace who’s actually running them?”
Patrick shook his head. “Every time we tried, the trail looped back on itself. Whoever’s at the top made sure they’d vanish if anyone got too close.”
Ethan’s jaw tightened. “But we found something else. One of the sites, out past the border near the old industrial stretch, isn’t a lab. It’s some form of prison.”
Byron looked up sharply. “A prison?”
“More like a containment unit,” Damian corrected. “One chamber, heavily secured, deep underground. Cameras, motion sensors, triple-layered security doors. Whatever’s inside must be pretty valuable for them to keep it secured the way they do.”
Lucy’s pulse quickened. “Did you see what was inside?”
Patrick hesitated. “No. We barely got near it. The moment we got close the alarms went off.”
Ethan nodded. “We were lucky to get out. But it didn’t feel like luck. It felt like we were allowed to leave.”
Silence fell over the room. The fire hissed softly in the grate.
Byron’s gaze met Corey’s. “Then it’s possible they wanted you to run, so they could follow you home.”
The words hung there, heavy as stone.
Lucy felt it, the creeping chill along her spine. “Then maybe we are already compromised.”
They called a meeting before night fall. The main room filled with quiet footsteps and hushed voices. Mary, Mandy, Sam and Barnaby all sat one after the other around the table.
Byron was standing by the window, when he addressed everyone “Ethan and his team may have been tracked back here. We’re treating this as a breach until proven otherwise.”
Mandy spoke first. “Then we need protection. I’ll set wards around the perimeter that’ll ring the second anyone crosses the boundary. I’ll make Erin and Davina plant Bell Blooms in each room.”
“What's a Bell Bloom?” Asked Barnaby, “They look like ordinary flowers, but they chime if they sense hostile intent.” Mandy responded quickly.
Barnaby perked up. “I can integrate that with the motion sensors.”
“Good,” Corey said. “Do it tonight.”
Lucy watched them all, this beautiful makeshift family she’d somehow built, working seamlessly and instinctively together. But beneath the coordination, there was fear. Everyone could feel the noose tightening.
Then Mandy hesitated. Her voice softened.
“There’s something else. Years ago, before I came here, I heard whispers of another like me.
I thought they were dead… but if what Ethan found is true, maybe they’re not.
Maybe that’s who’s being kept in that chamber and why they were so interested in finding more, samples, was it? ”
Byron nodded, “How long ago?”
“Nineteen years.”
The silence that followed was suffocating. Lucy met Byron’s gaze and saw the same thought flicker in his eyes. Mary’s voice cut through, “If they’ve survived that long, they’re no longer what they were. Whatever’s left down there might not have a shred of humanity left.”
Ethan nodded. “That’s why storming in is off the table. They have armies, surveillance, strike teams. We don’t. We barely have a K-pop group.”
A small ripple of uneasy laughter moved through the room, enough to ease the tension.
Mandy smiled, “The wards will hold. And if they come, we’ll know.”
“Good,” Byron said. “Then we stay alert.”
Night settled deep. Mandy explained to Erin and Davina their tasks and room to room they went and planted the Bloom Bells.
Barnaby set up sensors, Corey, Ethan and Damian Rallied the troops and sorted the schedules, Whilst Lucy stepped outside for air.
The storm that had darkened their doorstep had passed, but the air still smelled of rain and metal.
She looked toward the dark line of the woods, the faint flicker of energy in the distance, wards forming, glowing like threads across the boundary.
Byron joined her quietly, hands in his pockets. “This was bound to happen, I just wish the others could have joined us” Lucy hooped her arm through his, “How many of us are there again?” “five” he responded. “Is there a way to find the others quicker?”
Looking off into the sky Byron sighed “The moment you were turned on” Lucy interrupted quickly, “Turned on? So, every time you arouse me, they feel it too?” Byron burst out laughing “No, sorry My bad, wrong choice of words.
The Moment you activated, they would have felt it, just like Mandy and I did!
Lucy pulled him in close. “Hopefully they get here soon, we truly need all the help we can get!”.
The Bell Blooms had chimed so many times that first morning, small, bright, maddening notes, that the whole house was on edge.
“False alarm,” Mandy said for the fourth time before lunch, passing a vase in the hall and touching a petal with her knuckle.
Ethan checked the south perimeter on the monitor. “Movement at the hedgerow. Fox. Again. Should we let him in he is cute?”
“Tell him to show ID,” Barnaby muttered, half-asleep over a laptop.
Erin sat cross-legged on the rug near Davina’s feet with a colouring book, tongue tucked against her molars the way children do when they mean business. “Foxes don’t have pockets, so how would the fox carry ID” she announced without looking up.
Davina smoothed a curl behind Erin’s ear. “Exactly. So, no ID. Which means no entry.”
