Chapter 15

Chapter Fifteen

Lucas

I was pissed. I knew she said something to Melanie, and she had no right, no right at all.

When I entered my apartment building, I took the elevator up to her apartment.

Inserting the key, I stepped inside, sat on her bed, and waited for her to come home.

It wasn’t too long before I heard the key slide into the lock and the door open.

I could hear the wheels of the scooter approaching the bedroom, and when she flipped the light switch, she shrieked when she saw me sitting on the bed with my back against the headboard.

“Jesus Christ, Lucas!” she shouted, placing her hand over her heart. “You fucking scared me, you asshole! You just can’t come in here whenever you feel like it.”

“Sure, I can. I’m your landlord.”

“No, you can’t. You may only enter without permission from the tenant in the case of an emergency!”

“Well, this is an emergency. What the fuck did you say to Melanie?”

“Who’s Melanie?”

“You know damn well who she is. She’s the woman I was with. Don’t play games with me, Jenna. I saw you get up and go to the bathroom shortly after she did.”

“I’m pregnant, Lucas. I pee non-stop. Besides, she wasn’t right for you. She’s a gold digger. I could tell,” she spoke as she took off her shirt and threw it on the bed.

“Really? And how do you know that?”

“First of all, half the women in New York are gold diggers. This is where the wealth is.” She arched her brow. “The way you keep walking around in those expensive designer suits, the more gold diggers you will attract.” She sat down on the bed and pulled off her skirt.

“I don’t care. I’m not interested in anything but having a good time. You, of all people, know that.”

“I suspect you brought her to Rudy’s as a test because you knew she was a gold digger, and I bet she moaned about it when you told her where you were taking her.”

I looked away for a moment and sighed.

“I knew it.” She leaned over and pressed her finger into my chest. “Honestly, she would have bored you, especially in bed.”

She got up from the bed, and I watched her scoot across the room to her dresser in nothing but her lacy panties and bra.

“Jenna, I’m warning you.”

“Oh, please.” She pulled her nightshirt from her drawer.

I got up from the bed and stood behind her as I gripped her hips.

“I’m warning you. Stay the hell out of my personal life. Whom I chose to see is none of your concern,” I whispered in her ear, and I could feel my cock rise.

“And whom I choose to see is none of yours,” she said as I could feel her body tremble.

I slid my tongue across her neck as she tilted her head to the side and moaned. My fingers unclasped her bra, and I took it off and tossed it on the floor. Grabbing each of her breasts, I gasped at the fullness of them. Her moans heightened as I took her hardened peaks between my fingers.

“I think you need to make it up to me for ruining my night.”

“I guess I do. I’ve been a very bad girl.”

I didn’t think my cock could get any harder.

After taking down her panties, I ran my fingers across her sensitive area.

She was soaking wet and ready for me. After taking down my pants, I thrust into her from behind as her knee rested on the scooter.

We both gasped at the pleasure as she gripped the dresser's edge.

Pounding in and out of her, she orgasmed quickly, causing my cock to spasm with delight, and I exploded inside her.

“Ah,” I moaned as I pushed deep inside and pressed my lips against her bare shoulder.

When I was finished, I pulled out of her and pulled up my pants.

“I’ll see you in the morning,” I said as I walked out of her room and out of her apartment.

As soon as I stepped out of the elevator and into my penthouse, I poured myself a scotch and took it out on the terrace as I leaned on the railing and stared out into the brightly lit city.

I wasn’t sure if our friendship was working out.

She had no right to do what she did, and it really pissed me off.

After finishing my drink, I returned to her apartment and knocked on the door.

“Hey,” she said as she opened the door. “Is everything okay?”

“No. Things are not okay, Jenna,” I sternly spoke as I stepped inside her apartment. “I think from now on, we need to keep our relationship strictly professional. You’re my employee, and that’s all you need to be.”

“You’re still pissed about Melanie, I take it.”

“Damn right I am. You had no right.”

“You’re right, Lucas, and I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”

“Damn right, it won’t. My personal business is none of yours. Do you understand me?”

“Yes. I understand.”

“Good,” I said as I walked out of her apartment.

Jenna

I climbed into bed, and as I lay there, I thought about everything Lucas had said.

What did I expect? A lifelong friendship with my baby daddy?

A man who didn’t even want to know his child, let alone be a father.

Everyone had turned their backs on me, and he wasn’t any different.

If he was serious and wanted to keep our relationship strictly professional, then fine.

Strictly professional was what it would be.

I should never have agreed to work for him, but I felt as if I had no choice.

I was desperate, and I had the baby to think about.

All I needed was to get through this pregnancy.

Plus, I couldn’t stay in this apartment forever.

It wouldn’t be right running into Lucas constantly with the baby.

This job was only temporary, and after the baby was born, I would leave New York and move somewhere warm all year round, and I would buy a house on the beach for my child and me.

Lucas wanting to keep our relationship strictly professional now sealed the deal for me.

I felt a pain in my heart when I thought about him and our conversation earlier.

Maybe I was wrong to do what I did, but a tiny part of me was jealous.
