Chapter 8. Rain, Rain, Go Away
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY
SAWDUST
Sawdust cowered on his cat tree, staring at the gloomy day outside his window. Water dropped from the eaves and ran down the glass. He put a paw to the glass to try to catch a moving droplet, but to no avail. It was on the other side of the pane.
Water was good to drink, but Sawdust didn’t like when Whitney gave him a bath in it.
He wished Whitney was here with him now.
The sky made loud noises, and those noises were scary.
Whitney would make sure he was safe, and he would return the favor.
He worried about her when she was away. Where has she gone? When will she be back? Is she okay?
Galileo napped on the couch, seemingly unaffected by the storm outside, but Copernicus climbed to the top of the cat tree and settled down beside Sawdust. Sawdust wasn’t sure if Copernicus was scared, too, or if he’d sensed Sawdust’s distress and was trying to offer comfort.
Either way, he was glad to have his brother by his side.
He showed his appreciation with a mew of gratitude and a soft purr.
