Chapter 27. Happy Hour
HAPPY HOUR
SAWDUST
Sawdust wasn’t sure why Whitney was so happy when she arrived home from work that evening, but he was glad to see her showing her teeth. He knew that meant she was in a happy mood. She had looked worried lately. Whatever had been weighing on her seemed to have lifted.
When Collin arrived home, Whitney filled two tall, narrow, stem glasses with bubbling liquid.
Always curious, Sawdust hopped up onto the breakfast bar to check out the drinks.
Occasionally, he’d lap from a cup Whitney or Collin left lying around.
He’d tried ice water, which he’d found wonderfully fresh.
He’d tried coffee, too. He liked the creamy part, but the dark part was too bitter.
He wondered what the contents of these glasses might taste like.
He put his nose to the top of the glass and sniffed the fizzy drink. It tickled! He closed his eyes, sat back, and sneezed three times to clear his nose. Snit-snit-snit!
