Chapter 11 I Wanted Out

A week later, the first stop of my Concert in Li City officially opened.

That night after it ended, Sister Li officially registered the Xu Zhiyi Studio account on social media.

The move was quiet, but too many people followed me. After three hours, the term Xu Zhiyi Haohai hit the trending search.

In less than five minutes, Xie Kun called me.

"Zhiyi." His tone was careful, testing. "Did you see the trending search?"

I was taking off my makeup with my eyes closed. I laughed at that.

"Did Shen Xinrui like my black material again? What, you want me to wipe her ass one more time?"

Xie Kun paused, then dropped it and went straight at me.

"You signed a ten-year contract with the company. You know that, right?"

"I know." I had sung for two hours. My throat really hurt. I said it lazily. "So I was going to break it."

Xie Kun sucked in a breath.

"Please. Haohai PR only just caught its breath because of Shen Xinrui. Can you not add to the mess?"

"Did I not make it clear?" I cleared my throat. "I don't want to be the sucker at Haohai anymore, so I am happy to pay to break the contract and leave."

Xie Kun's voice shook.

"Please, is it because you were unhappy with how Shen Xinrui was handled last time? Can we talk it out properly?"

"Too late." I picked up my phone. "Haohai treated me like a fool. I don't want to play anymore. Oh, another trending search just came up. Take a look."

PR staff hurriedly showed Xie Kun the screen. A blazing mark sat on it.

"Xu Zhiyi withdraws from the variety show I Choose You."

Xie Kun's face went blank.

"Why withdraw?"

"Oh." I said. "Because I hate Shen Xinrui."

"Please, Zhiyi." He sounded gutted. "You are not this willful."

"I always have been." I let out an oh, as if I had just realized. "Maybe I liked Xiao Yuan too much before, so I could endure anything, and that gave you the illusion. Stay the sucker long enough and everyone treats it as natural."

"But my personality is super hard to deal with." I said it with a smile. "Director Xie, you will slowly get to see it."

Xie Kun looked dazed. From his face, it looked like he had already seen it.

"Zhiyi, let's talk properly." Xie Kun said. "Mr. Xiao is on a business trip in Hong City. He will be back this afternoon. Come to the company. Can we all sit down and negotiate?"

So familiar. I laughed out loud. Every time it was like this, using Xiao Yuan to press me.

Because before, it had really worked every time.

That dull ache of disgust caught me again, but my tone stayed that light.

"Sure!"
