Chapter 14 Love Song Material

My personal studio was officially established.

My fans beat gongs and drums in delight. They forwarded a giveaway across the whole net with no circle limits. The prize money was pushed close to a million.

I was stunned by that number. I went online and looked. The giveaway picture had a few huge words:

【热烈庆祝我担恋爱脑绝症治愈。】

I said, "......"

After I walked out of Haohai, countless companies offered me contracts. After all, I had gone independent before my contract was up, and quit the variety show with no warning. It was almost a blatant announcement to everyone: I had completely torn my face with Haohai.

After a brand endorsement event, a reporter asked me, "Why did you leave Haohai Media?"

The flashlights on site went white. My mean streak flared. "Because my Hopeless Romantic disease got cured."

The air went quiet for a beat, then climbed a new step. "So you're admitting you harbored romantic feelings for Xiao Yuan?"

I didn't answer.

The next mic shoved straight at my face. "Then may I ask why you quit the variety show?"

I stepped back and answered, "Because I really hate Shen Xinrui."

I heard the surrounding media and crowd let out a, "Holy shit. Badass."

The next question was shouted high. "May I ask what Haohai's Mr. Xiao is to you?"

The flashes were almost bright as day. I answered, "Material for love songs."

That night, I occupied half the trending searches.

Sister Li sounded wrecked and thrilled. "Xu Zhiyi, after you walked out of Haohai it's like you were fucking reborn."

It wasn't that. I wanted to explain. This had always been my personality.

It was only those years of loving Xiao Yuan. I seemed to have slowly lost my edge and my corners.

My fans were much more blunt. They left a comment under my Weibo:

【从此只走花路不走情路,熹妃回宫。】

I smiled a little. I knew my reputation over these years. I also knew how my fans had hated iron for not becoming steel.

The day was extremely noisy. Just when the heat was about to drop, Xiao Yuan liked a post with his personal Weibo.

The post was me answering that to me, he counted as material for love songs.

Then he followed me.

The comments bounced around like crazy over the gossip.

Xiao Yuan's personal Weibo wasn't a decoration. On the contrary, it had a strong personal air and character.

Book and song shares. Candid shots of skiing, bungee jumping, watching the aurora. Breakfast he made. A cat napping on his abs...

Everything was there.

I had looked at those updates countless times. I could even recite the post times. I had liked every single one.

I had followed him one-sided for five years. More than eighteen hundred days.

He didn't play the icy persona. On a whim he would follow back a few people. Pet bloggers, or some celebrity.

The day Shen Xinrui debuted, he followed her Weibo and reposted a congratulations.

But he had never followed me.

The night he returned my Concert ticket, I unfollowed him for good.

And today, he followed me one-sided.

He and I had never met on the same line.
