Epilogue

The closing battle of my Concert was performed in Gangcheng's largest venue.

A four-sided stage. Thirty thousand seats. I sang for a full two hours.

By the end my voice had gone completely hoarse. Fans below the stage waved glowing light sticks for me.

The Concert was about to end.

I drank water and rested. I said, breathing hard, "Next is the last song.

"For the past five years, my Concert always left an empty seat. But that person never came."

The noisy fans slowly quieted.

"I always wanted to sing this song for him. This song was born for him, written for him, sung for him."

I smiled. The camera swept over countless fans in the seats.

"This song opened a glorious singer's career for me. Today, this song will also draw a perfect period for me."

The camera caught a man. The audience let out cries of shock. I met his eyes through the big screen.

"Spilt Water." I said with a smile. "In my career, the last time I sing it."

Fans below the stage screamed. The intro rose slowly, smooth and pure like a violin.

The camera did not move anymore. On the big screen there was only Xiao Yuan.

He was wearing a white suit, formal as a groom attending a wedding.

The instant I started to sing, his eyes went red. He bent down, both hands covering his face, veins standing out on his hands, as if he could not bear it.

I would go on alone.

We were passersby to each other.

The whole venue of fans sang the chorus with me at the high point.

"If love has fate but no share, it is like Spilt Water."
