Chapter 18 He Cooked Me Soup
Zheng Fengchen had not wasted those three years in the industry.
He knew how to recast a mess as someone else's fault. A few screenshots were enough to reverse the whole situation. Even if I threw out the screenshots from before the Studio had managed to recall the messages, it probably would not have been enough to turn the situation back.
Xia Yulie had already sent several messages.
"Are you okay?"
"I have already collected every Account that spread the rumors and attacks. We can sue anytime."
"This is not a good time to clarify. If you feel awful, come find me first. We can strike later when the timing is right."
I ignored him.
A few hours later, someone knocked on the door.
I opened it, and Xia Yulie was standing there. He had clearly rushed over the whole way. Fine sweat showed on his forehead.
"Why are you here?"
"I came to see you." He looked over my face. I must have looked the same as always, because he let out a breath, then coughed twice. "Are you not going to invite me in to sit?"
Xia Yulie was too at home.
After he came in he wandered two loops, not only tidied my living room, but went to the kitchen and cooked a pot of white fungus and red date soup.
I sat in the living room with a laptop on my knees. After a long time I finally asked him.
"What did you come here for?"
"My reputation is this bad now. Even Fans on the Alt Account do not dare speak for me. If I produce videos later, nobody will buy it."
"I am already useless to Xia Yuqing. You are wasting effort on me."
Dong.
A flick landed on my forehead.
"Bai Zhu, are you stupid?" Xia Yulie looked at me with his arms crossed. "You think all this time, I really had to sell my abs to keep Fans for that idiot Xia Yuqing?"
"With that many Fans, if it was nothing but seduction, why would I not just open a streamer Account and be a male bodhisattva?"
Huh?
Was it not seduction?
I actually froze for a second.
Xia Yulie laughed, angry. "Those things I said at the first dinner were all excuses. You cannot have missed that, right?"
He had already fallen for me, he said.
It had been at that Music Festival. He just had not had time to ask for a contact, and later he had used every method he could to find me again.
After going around in circles for so long, he had taken it as the two of us flirting. I had taken it as an Idol selling out his own brother.
"Xia Yuqing is not worth me putting in this much."
