Chapter 14

Holland

The ballroom looks like something I dreamed up. Magical and glamorous.

Chandeliers cast their lights across the walls that Theo ordered painted to match our wedding colors.

I run my thumb across my diamond engagement ring and lose the battle to keep the tears from flowing. From the moment of the proposal until now, I discovered that there are no lengths Theo won’t go to for me.

I don’t know why fate chose to bring this man into my life, but I am beyond grateful. I have never known this kind of love. The kind that treasures and protects. The kind that sees my value.

“Stop that,” Heidi scolds beside me. “Or I’ll turn on the waterworks, too, and the trashed racoon look is so outdated.”

I laugh, then blink hard. “I’ll miss you.”

“I’m not that far away.” She shakes her head. “I cannot believe Theo bought a building for you so I could have an apartment nearby.”

“I only mentioned how great it would be if you and I could live within walking distance of each other.”

“Mention how great it would be if your friend had a Lamborghini.”

I know Heidi is joking. She’s not materialistic in any way.

“Who knows? Maybe this time next year, you’ll be coming to my wedding,” she says.

“I’ll walk you down the aisle,” I promise because like me, Heidi doesn’t have much in the way of family.

I look across the volumes of expensive flowers to where my grandmother sits chatting with Theo’s grandmother.

My grandmother is having trouble moving so Heidi is the one walking me down the aisle.

Violins begin the wedding music and Heidi links our arms.

The crowd of family and friends fall silent.

I nervously smooth my custom-made wedding dress. Theo flew me to Paris to have it designed. The elegant silk flows over my body and ends with a long train dotted with real diamonds. But none of the beauty of the dress can match the beauty of the love shining from Theo’s eyes.

Like I’m everything he’s ever wanted. Like his world began with me. Don’t cry, I silently scold myself.

I glance at his brothers standing beside him. Locke. Oliver. Chase. Powerful, attractive men. But they can’t compare to my Theo. My handsome, sexy, fallen god.

He smiles at me as we reach the end of the ballroom where he was waiting and he takes my trembling hand in his.

I pass my bouquet to Heidi and turn to face my soon-to-be husband.

He gives my hands a gentle squeeze before he starts his vows. “I promise to love you always and to be your shelter from all the storms. You are my sun and my moon. My hope, my future, my love.”

His voice lowers to a whisper, “My amazing love. My only kingdom. I once thought love was a weakness and you taught me it’s a strength. I love you with a love that will not falter or run.

I don’t bother to try to hold back the tears. There’s no use. My heart is too full. My grandmother once said that happy tears are just love spilling out. I believe that today.

“I promise to love you fiercely,” I tell him. “To walk this journey by your side wherever it takes us. I will also be your shelter from all the storms.”

He thumbs away my tears, but they keep falling.

“I choose you every day of my life. To hold. To love. And I will never stop.”

Theo’s grandfather nods and his grandmother dabs at her eyes. My grandmother does the same. Heidi puts a hand over her mouth, and I see her boyfriend discreetly pass her a tissue.

The officiant calls for the rings and blesses them before he passes them to us. Theo slides his ring on my finger, and I slide mine onto his.

“I pronounce you husband and wife.”

Theo pulls me into an embrace and kisses me. Softly at first, then deeper, the start of a promise that will finish later once we’re alone.

The wedding guests stand and clap, cheering in unison.

What I thought was fate leading me toward Theo? It turned out to be true, and I feel forever settling in my soul.

Everything about the night passes faster than I expected. From the cutting of the towering wedding cake to all the toasts from his brothers and then the dancing. I feel like I blinked and it was over.

Before I know it, we’re in our traveling clothes in the limousine heading to the airport where the private jet waits to fly us to our honeymoon destination.

“So it begins,” he says softly. “Two become one.” He rests our linked hands on his thigh.

“Where are we flying off to?”

“I hope you don’t mind, but it’s somewhere you’ve been before.”

“The island?”

He nods. “Is that okay?”

“It’s more than okay. I enjoyed being there the first time because I was with you.”

He leans down to kiss me. “I can barely wait to make love to my beautiful wife.”

I glance at the privacy screen between us and the driver. “Then don’t.”

“You naughty woman,” he says, pulling me onto his lap and kissing me.

I kiss him back, sinking into him, pressing my core against his cock. I rub myself back and forth on him until he groans.

“You have too many clothes on.” He reaches under my dress and pulls my panties down.

I wiggle out of them, and he tucks them into his pocket with a grin.

“I told you that I stay wet around you,” I defend myself.

“You did, but let’s get you wetter and satisfied.” He moves his hand between my legs to stroke me. There’s a thrill in having to be quiet and move carefully.

“There’s my favorite spot,” he whispers in my ear, his fingers finding my clit and taking control.

I bite down hard on my lip to keep from making noise, but I moan.

Theo puts his hand on the back of my neck and draws my lips to his, covering my sounds.

As I come, he slides his fingers into me.

I rock against him and when my orgasm drains me, I rest my head on his shoulder and draw in a ragged breath.

Theo quietly unzips his pants and lifts my hips, positioning me over his thick cock. Then he slides into me.

“I don’t have a lot of room to move here,” he says.

“It’s okay, I’ll ride you.”

I put both hands on his shoulders and lift myself to the tip of his cock, then drop back down. “Like this?”

“Yes,” he says through clenched teeth. He tangles his hands in my hair.

“Do you want some more?”

He squeezes my ass. “Always. Ride me.”

I gaze into his eyes and smile at what I see there. Love. Trust. Happiness.

I start to move again and when Theo gets a little vocal, I cover his mouth with my hand. “Be quiet and give me that dick.” I move faster and harder.

His thighs tighten, then Theo tips his head back and fills me. “My beautiful wife,” he says against my hand.

Afterward, we straighten our clothes though we probably look like a mess, but I don’t care. I’m head over heels in love with the fallen god whose heart I ended up stealing instead of breaking.
