“I have a proposal to make to you, Josephine. Actually, think of it as a career upgrade. You’re going to become famous.”
She looks at me suspiciously, and I find myself wondering whether I’ve finally lost my mind by even thinking about something like this, but it’s pure desperation that led me to this drastic decision.
“Do you think I need it? I don’t know. From where I stand, I’m an up-and-coming jewelry designer.”
And she really is. Although her creations don’t exactly match Amasitano’s image, Josephine has creativity paired with good taste. Her pieces are beautiful.
“Don’t you want to be known worldwide? I can take care of that, as long as you help me with a little problem.”
“What kind of problem, prince? You sound omnipotent.”
“Almost, but not when it comes to a pact. My word carries a lot of weight. In this case, my father’s word.”
“I’m not understanding anything, Your Highness,” she says, with the irony she always uses when addressing me that way. “What do you want from me, Vicenzzo?”
“I need you to help me destroy my reputation.”
