MALACHI
"Impossible," I breathe, voice barely above a whisper.
Sage doesn't answer. Panic blooms on her face, and suddenly, she's running, fleeing the ballroom in a blur of emerald silk and raw magic.
The warlocks around me react immediately, instincts taking control. Their carefully crafted masks of civility fracture, giving way to primal hunger. They surge forward, all rational thought consumed by the intoxicating rush of sensing something they thought extinct—a witch.
Sage is in danger.
I gather my strength, power flaring violently beneath my skin, stepping forward to block their path.
"Stand down," I command, voice hard with authority. But even as I speak, I know words won't be enough. Their eyes gleam with feral intensity, magic crackling in the air. They've tasted the raw power she's unleashed—and now they want her.
All of them.
With a grim determination, I unleash a wave of force, pushing them back, buying her precious seconds to escape.
My jaw tightens as I brace myself for the fight I know is coming.
Because Sage Holloway is mine—and no one else will have her.
