Epilogue

Mikey arranged to meet with the man who had been vexing him for weeks. Burton and two of his detectives waited in the back room of the shop, while two others were staked out in unmarked cars. There was no way this man was going anywhere.

It took less than five minutes to take Geoffrey Wilson down.

“Geoffrey Wilson, you are under arrest for two counts of attempted murder and extortion.”

The man protested and threatened to sue, but they had him dead to rights. Burton had done his job. The rest was up to the county prosecutor, who was known to be tough on tough guys.

Mikey was able to sell the property for just under half a million dollars. He paid off all the bills and split the rest with Arlo.

Arlo used part of the money to start a cleaning business called Arlo’s Gleamin’ Clean Service. Mikey returned to Shields Marina and bought the houseboat back from Riley. He even let him keep the commission. Mikey decided if anyone needed a vacation in the Florida Keys, it was him.

Madison and Victor started their fashion ambush side-hustle business while they awaited the outcome of the big company merger.

Viggo and Madison’s relationship flourished. When asked how she felt about the big changes in her life, she simply replied, “Life is a series of adjustments.” And then she punctuated her words with a wink.
