8. You’re Driving Her #4

“Look at me,” Camila said.He opened his eyes, and she held his gaze while she moved, letting him see everything — the pleasure, the want, the rawness of being this close to someone.

She leaned down and kissed him, and it was messy and deep and tasted like desperation. He rolled his hips, hitting a new angle, and she gasped against his mouth.

He did it again, and again, and suddenly she was close again — impossibly, ridiculously close, considering she’d just come minutes ago. “I’m going to —”

“Do it.”

“I can’t — not again —”

“You can.” His thumb found her again, pressing tight circles, and she shattered.

The orgasm hit her like a wave, crashing through her, and she cried out — loud, uncontrolled, his name and a string of sounds that weren’t words.

He followed her over the edge, pulling her down hard against him, groaning her name as he spilled inside her. They stayed like that for a long moment — tangled, breathing hard, neither of them willing to move.

Camila could feel his heartbeat against her chest, fast and hard, gradually slowing.

Her own pulse was still hammering, and her thighs were trembling, and she was fairly certain her brain had temporarily stopped working. He pressed his face into her neck, and she could feel him smiling.

His hands had relaxed on her hips, his thumbs now tracing gentle patterns on her skin, and the shift from urgent to tender made something ache in her chest in the best way.

She lifted her head and looked at him. — kissed off at some point — and his hair was a mess from her fingers, and he looked thoroughly wrecked in the most satisfying way.

He kissed her forehead, then her nose, then her mouth — soft this time, unhurried, the kind of kiss that had nowhere to be.

Outside, the Range Rover sat in the driveway, catching the last light of the evening, and inside the mansion. Then Chris’s eyes caught movement in the mansion window. His entire body changed.Camila felt it.

“What?”Chris looked toward the house.A curtain moved upstairs.Nothing more.Maybe nobody.Maybe security.Maybe Mateo.Reality came crashing back.Chris gently guided Camila away from him and back into the passenger seat. This time she allowed it.His voice lowered. “You need to go inside.”

The teasing disappeared from her expression.“Do you regret kissing me?”That question hit differently.Chris looked at her.He should say yes.It would solve a problem before it became one.Instead:“No.”Camila’s expression softened.“That seems inconvenient.”

Chris smiled faintly.“You have no idea.”She reached for the door. Then stopped.

“Goodnight, Chris Roman.”

“Goodnight, Camila Vargas.”She opened the door.Chris watched her walk toward the mansion. At the entrance, she turned.Looked back.Smiled.Then disappeared inside.

Chris sat motionless.Ten seconds.Twenty.“Fuck.”He dropped his head against the steering wheel.Sloan and Mercer was going to murder him.Mateo might literally murder him.

And Chris wasn’t entirely sure which conversation he dreaded more.He lifted his head.

Looked toward the mansion.Camila was gone. But he could still feel her hands against his chest. Her mouth against his.Her weight in his lap.He started the engine.“Once,” he muttered. One kiss. One sexual encounter. One mistake. It wouldn’t happen again.

Chris pulled away from the mansion. He made it all the way to the gate before admitting the truth. He wanted it to happen again.Badly.Upstairs, Mateo stood near the window of his study. The Range Rover’s taillights disappeared through the gates.Diego poured himself a drink behind him.“She home?”

“Yes.”

“Roman do okay?”Mateo didn’t answer immediately. He’d seen the SUV arrive.Seen it remain parked longer than necessary. He hadn’t seen enough to know why.But Mateo Vargas had survived because he paid attention to things other men dismissed. And Chris Roman had been sitting outside with Camila for six minutes after bringing her home.

Six.Mateo looked toward the staircase.A moment later, Camila appeared.Barefoot.

Heels dangling from one hand. Her lips curved in a smile she was very clearly trying to hide.Mateo’s eyes narrowed.“Have fun?”Camila looked at him.“Wonderful.”

“How was Roman?”The smile disappeared too quickly.“Annoying.”Diego glanced at Mateo.Mateo glanced at Diego.Interesting.Camila started upstairs.“Goodnight.”

“Camila.”She stopped.“Yes?”Mateo studied his sister.Then decided not to ask.“Nothing.”

She continued upstairs.Diego waited until she disappeared.“You saw that.”Mateo picked up his whiskey.“Unfortunately.”

“You want Roman gone?”Mateo looked toward the gates.

“No.”

“Why?”Because Chris Roman had done something almost nobody managed. He’d impressed Mateo. And Mateo still needed to know exactly what kind of man he’d brought inside his organization.“Because,” Mateo said quietly, “I want to see what he does next.”

Across the city, Chris Roman had no idea that the man he’d been ordered to fool had just started watching him for an entirely different reason. And the woman he’d been ordered never to touch had already become the one thing he wanted to touch again.
