Chapter 17
“What’s he doing, Zuhara?” I rest my hand against her soft white head, scratching right in the center the way she likes.
The feline purrs loudly and shifts her massive body to drape even more of her weight over mine. If I weren’t what I am—a damn Dylox—she’d crush me. She isn’t a house cat, even if she desperately wants to be one.
“He is speaking with his Vigoro.” Her words vibrate through my mind in a soft, humming tone.
“Isn’t that just like… talking to himself?”
My eyes never leave his back, all bare and fucking delicious to look at.
It’s been a few months since I first started stalking my little deviant, and now that he’s stopped fighting the inevitable—him being mine—I cannot get enough of him.
And that’s truly an understatement. I’d love to say he’s equally obsessed with me, but he’s definitely a hard cookie to crack.
Unlike his Familiar, Zuhara, who has absolutely fallen in love with me.
“Think of it as meditation.”
I can tell she doesn’t want to be talking. She’d rather I just give her the physical attention Lucifer won’t even dare to.
“Nmm, yes, can you get under my chin?”
I move my hand under her jaw, finding the spot she can’t reach, and she melts like putty into my lap.
After what feels like an hour of letting him ignore me—or meditating—I gently move the sleeping Zuhara from my lap and quietly approach him from behind.
We’ve made this place ‘our spot’. I’d find it romantic if he wouldn’t stop calling it the place I trapped him.
He doesn’t complain when I’ve got my cock in his ass and both of his gripped in my hand.
I’d prefer it if he would let me take him back to my place or anywhere with a comfortable bed but, alas, I’ll take him how I can… for now.
He doesn’t react as I hover over him, and I sigh.
His legs are crossed, hands resting in his lap. It’s like he doesn’t worry about anyone coming and attacking him. Granted, yes, this place is at the highest peak of the Kulbolt mountains and no one that isn’t suicidal would dare to try and climb it, but still.
I guess it makes sense. Eternal creature and all. Can’t be afraid when you really can’t die.
I’ve played this waiting game long enough and fall to my knees behind him. Grabbing around his throat, he gasps and immediately throws an elbow back. I take it with my free hand before leaning into his ear and whispering, “You’ve spoken with your Vigoro long enough. I think it’s my turn.”
He tries to buck me off him, but I only laugh.
“Kayn!” His fight is adorable, and as he attempts to stand, I quickly spin him onto his back. The moment his back hits the ground, he puts his hands up to grab my shoulders, but I know better.
This back and forth of ours is always the same. He tries to push me away, but the moment I overpower him and show him just how much he loves to be dominated, he turns into a whimpering, panting mess. I do very much enjoy it.
“Oh, come on, little deviant, it’s my turn. I didn’t run up here to cuddle your cat.”
I catch his hands as they slip toward my shoulders and pin them smoothly above his head. A deep crimson flush splashes across his cheeks as I settle myself over his hips, holding him firmly in place.
“You interrupted my discussion.”
Shrugging my shoulders, I move his wrists to one hand and start exploring.
I twirl a piece of dark black hair around my index finger before trailing down his face.
“I love it when you get all flustered.” He attempts to lift his hips to buck me off, but all he does is give me, and himself, friction.
“Oh, Lucifer, you haven’t even kissed me or said hello yet. ”
“I-I didn’t even know you showed up, or…” He cuts himself off. It’s adorable watching him fight this. Watching him try to keep control when he never truly had any to begin with.
I live for the chase. Truly. Because when I’m obsessed, there’s absolutely no stopping me from getting what I want.
And what I want is this Incubus. I’ve never wanted anyone or anything more than him, and I’m confident enough in myself to admit that.
“Or…?” My exploration gets to his chest where I pinch his nipple, that instantly hardens.
He bites his bottom lip, and those double fangs that he loves to use to bite, press into the flesh I’m ready to have wrapped around my cock.
“Or I would’ve said hi.”
“And given me a kiss, right?” I lean forward, which subsequently lifts my hips and separates our cocks. “I know how much you love to kiss me.”
“Ugh, fucking Beyond. You are so full of yourself.”
Our noses brush and I grin. “You love to say that when truly, it is you that’s more full of me these days.”
The moment he’s about to run those tantalizing lips of his, I move my hand down to his cocks that are pressed desperately against his jeans. He gasps, wiggles, and widens his gaze right up at me.
“Tell me, little deviant, that you love to kiss me. Then I’m going to fuck you before you tell me all about your conversation with your Vigoro.”
While I love fucking him, I’ve come to enjoy his company as well. It’s more than physical with Lucifer, but I understand what he needs. Approval, praise, and to be needed. I’m more than happy to give them all to him, if he will allow for it.
“Hmm?”
I think I’ve put him into shock, but before I can say anything further, he whispers, “I… like kissing you, and I want it…”
Letting out a low chuckle, I move closer. “That’s a good boy. I do love giving you what you want.”
My tent shakes violently, ripping me out of my daydream far too soon. The vision evaporates, and I swallow hard as I push myself up into a seated position. Through the thin fabric, I catch the frantic scrambling of Atlas’s feet just outside.
“Shit,” he grumbles, trying to lean against the flimsy dome.
It caves inward, and I groan before shuffling out. I tighten the drawstring on my sweats after tucking in my white shirt. When I step into the cool night air, I find Atlas staring at me with wide eyes and an apology written clear across his face.
“I’m so fucking sorry, Kayn.”
I look around, greeted by the night, and a fire that is completely burned out. Probably couldn’t see where he was going.
“Going to take a piss?” I ask gruffly.
“No,” he says quickly. “I heard shuffling, and when I peeked out, I saw Amarah walking off.”
That has my brows pinching.
We’ve been at this camping spot for two nights now. It’s not ideal, but we all needed a break after being crammed in the truck for nearly four days straight. Especially since the little Witch is not exactly the best conversationalist.
I jerk my head toward his tent. “I’ll go check on her. She’s probably taking a bathroom break.”
“It’s been half an hour. I waited, because that was my thought.”
An irrational fear tears right through my chest. She isn’t back yet?
“Go to bed. I’ll get her.”
He nods, and we part ways as I follow the trail of her scent. It takes me no more than twenty feet to find her sitting in a small clearing. She’s wrapped in a blanket, head tilted toward the treetops. A break in the canopy lets a shaft of moonlight fall directly over her.
As I approach slowly—careful not to startle her—I notice her body held taut, utterly still. I don’t even see the rise and fall of her shoulders. The only indication she’s alive is the steady thrum of her pulse.
Stepping around her, I lower myself to sit cross-legged in front of her. Her lips are slightly parted, but she’s breathing evenly through her nose.
“Amarah?” I reach for the indigo thread, but hit a wall. It doesn’t feel like the one she usually throws up, but it’s just as strong. I’m not familiar enough with this bond to break through it. Not yet, at least.
“If they had taken my life… every single person would still have a beating heart, and I would have never known the agony of regret, the pain of unjustified punishment, and the taste of someone else’s sin.”
Her words have been on my mind for the past week. I want, so badly, to overthink them. But that’s admittance… right? She clearly said that if she were dead first, no one else would have died.
Right…
If only it were that easy. Because I can just as easily see it as her failing to save them. But why? I have so many questions, and she’s locked up tight.
She reminds me so much of Lucifer.
Stubborn, irritating… and so fucking beautiful.
Godsdamn them both.
A soft whimper slips from her lips as her chin drops toward her chest. Then, a single tear rolls down her cheek.
“Damn it…” Her whisper is thick with pain and regret, and I can’t help but feel bad for her. I shouldn’t—but fuck, it’s hard not to.
“Amarah?” I say it as low and gentle as possible, but it doesn’t matter.
Her eyes fly open and she jerks back, throwing off the blanket and preparing to scream. I lunge forward, clapping a hand over her mouth before she can.
“It’s just me.”
The quick movement leaves us in a very intimate position. She’s propped on her elbows, me hovering over her, one hand braced against the ground and the other still over her mouth. I’m close enough that her scent detonates through my senses.
For the briefest moment, her always-steady heartbeat quickens. And, in turn, so does mine.
“Can you see me?”
She nods quickly.
I release a heavy sigh and ease back, lifting my hand from her lips.
“What the shit, Butcher?!” she whisper-shouts, darting her gaze around the clearing. “You can’t just sneak up on me like that.”
“What’re you doing out here in the middle of the night, sitting in the dark?” I’m not taking her scolding—this is dangerous. There are wild animals out here that could rip her to shreds.
She groans, narrows her eyes, and grabs the blanket again, wrapping it around herself. Not that she’s exposed—she’s wearing just as many layers as always. “I felt a pull, so I came to try and channel without… limitations.”
I hum. “Weren’t successful I take it.”
“Clearly.”
A strange urge to touch her washes over me, especially as she refuses to break eye contact. To distract myself from that idiotic idea, I ask, “Did you get any sleep?”
“I rarely do,” she says, shifting onto her knees. “Night, Butcher.”
“Wait.”
“No,” she replies flatly. “Trying to channel has weighed on my body and mind. I need to lie down and at least try to get some rest.”
The moment she rises, so do I.
I tower over her, but she only stares up at me. “We need to discuss what you said to me last week.”
She just laughs and turns away.
“I won’t stop asking, little slayer.”
“And I won’t stop ignoring you.” She doesn’t look back, just keeps walking toward camp.
“You’re such a brat.”
“And you’re such a brute. Goodnight.”
