Chapter 29 #2

Rex stands, yawns, and then shakes his body; his fur is fluffy for a second before it shrinks back to his skin.

Gaelan explained that their fluff serves as armor for them; they puff out during battles, and it feels like small pins if brushed against skin.

I’m not sure I believe him. I touched one of those fluffy cacti—that looked so soft—once, and my finger was on fire for hours afterwards.

I head out of the office and into the bedroom to quickly put on a jumper as the temperature has dropped.

I’m finally starting to understand how time moves down here.

It’s so odd that we don’t have any sunlight at all, but the two moons are so pretty.

Right now, the setting sun is on the horizon topside, and here, the second moon is about to rise.

I head down the hallway, Rex walking beside me. The halls are quiet upstairs, so I head down the stairs. As I walk into the main entrance, Jane, the housekeeper, excitedly comes over and bows.

“Lady Ari, what would you like for dinner this evening? Lord Gaelan told me to ask you.”

“Actually, Jane, would the chef mind if I cooked dinner tonight?”

She frowns at me. “You wish to cook?” she sounds shocked.

“If I can? I just want to do something nice for Gaelan.”

She smiles and bows. “Of course, I will clear the kitchen for you and set up the dinner table.”

“Thank you.”

I have no idea what’s in the kitchen to cook, or even where it is, but it’ll be fine.

I turn and head toward the door to Gaelan’s main office.

Hearing voices coming from behind it—someone is shouting.

Turning, Rex bumps into me, which makes me hit the door as if I had knocked.

I gasp at the almost smirk that crosses the hound’s face, and I narrow my eyes at him.

“You did that on purpose.”

He growls playfully at me, and a few seconds later, Gaelan shouts, “Come in.”

Feeling bad that I’m interrupting, I slowly push the door open and peek in. Ten sets of eyes turn to look at me, studying me, causing me to blush. “Sorry… I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

“You didn’t, Ari.” Gaelan stands up and rounds the desk, coming over to me and kissing me. He gazes into my eyes, searching them. “Is everything okay? I was a little longer than I thought I would be.”

“I’m fine. I was just reading some letters; I wanted to show you what I found. It can wait.”

Gaelan grins and shakes his head. “No, it cannot.” His eyes glow before he turns and addresses the room. “We will continue this tomorrow. Dismissed.”

They give me a slightly annoyed look before shimmering from the room. The only one left is Mark, who is currently grinning at me. I’ve not seen him since that night at the restaurant.

“Mark, how are you?”

He comes over, taking my hand and kissing the back of it. “I am well, my lady. I am so happy to see you are well after our last conversation.”

“I was worried about you until Gaelan told me that you were okay. I didn’t think I would see you again.”

He smiles. “This young man cannot live without me; I will always be around.” He turns to Gaelan. “I will leave you to enjoy your evening. I will have what you asked for ready tomorrow, my lord.” He bows.

“If I’m late, start without me,” Gaelan says, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me close.

“Good night, my lord. My lady.” Mark bows again and leaves through the door, closing it softly behind him.

“Good night, Mark.” I look up at Gaelan. “Is Mark a supernatural?”

“Mark is different.” Gaelan shakes his head. “He is part human.”

“But you said he’s been with you for a long time?” I question.

“He has; he told me a witch had given him the gift of life and some powers. He’s an immortal human,” Gaelan says as he grips my chin, tilts my head to him, and kisses me, taking my breath away, and causing me to drop the letters in my hand and clutch at his shoulders.

“I missed you so fucking much, my Rose,” Gaelan groans as he takes the kiss deeper.

He picks me up and places me on the edge of his desk, his hands coming up to cup my face, tilting my head back slightly so he can take control of our kiss.

I moan into his mouth and pull him closer to me, my hands reaching for his shirt, fingers fumbling with the first button, trying to get it undone so I can feel his skin against mine.

Gaelan grins against my mouth and pulls back slightly.

“Rose? Are you trying to get me naked?”

I smile and lick my lips. “Maybe.”

Gaelan leans down and kisses me before shimmering us both naked. He pulls back and raises his eyebrow at me, smirking. “All you had to do was ask.”

“You shimmer us naked all the time.” I giggle.

“I’m inpatient,” he says, then lowers his head and bites my ear.

“I know,” I smile and roll my head back when he starts kissing down my neck. I’m already getting wet for him with the need to have him buried deep inside me.

My hand reaches out, and I curl my fingers around his cock and start to jerk him off. He groans against my neck before resting his head there.

“Fuck, that feels so good.”

“Gaelan? Fuck me.” My voice is low and breathy.

Gaelan moves his hands down my back, pushing my hips forward until I’m almost at the edge of the desk. “I’ll fuck you, my Rose….”

I moan at his words, then move the tip of his cock to line up with my pussy. He wastes no time thrusting inside me, his cock stretching me, making me shake from head to toe. I move my hands to grip his shoulders. “Don’t be gentle, baby,” I whisper as I nip at his neck.

Gaelan leans closer to me, tilting me back slightly, pulling his hips back and thrusting forward, making me whimper.

He does it again, repeatedly, each time harder, stroking all the parts that drive me crazy.

He growls in my ear, the sound of our breathless pants and bodies slapping together, echoes throughout the room.

“Rose, Ari, fuck.”

I tilt my head to the side and moan, “Bite me, Gaelan.”

He turns his head and bites into my skin. My hand comes up to hold him in place, wanting him to drink from me, wanting to feel what it feels like. “Harder, Gaelan.”

He moans but pulls back from my neck to look at me, his eyes flashing bright blue.

I see something cross his face, but I only have a second to think about it as my orgasm hits me, my body bucking closer to his.

After a few more hard thrusts, I feel his cock throb in my pussy as he comes deep inside of me, and we both moan at the feel of it.

Panting, Gaelan kisses me softly as he pulls his still hard cock from my body.

“You need to always interrupt my meeting like this, my Rose.” He grins at me before shimmering our clothes back on.

“Your team is going to hate me if I keep doing that.”

“I’ll kill any that complain,” he chuckles darkly. “What did you want to show me?”

“Some letters and diaries from last ‘me.’ A lot of them.” I pull from his arms, walking over to where I dropped them, and pick them up.

“I talk about Tate, Macy, and the Blood Bringer.” Gaelan sits on the edge of his desk, now staring at me.

I walk over to him. “Oh, and I also gave the chef the night off; I’m cooking tonight. ”

“You’re cooking? Can you cook?” His lips quirk up at the side, and I can see him trying not to laugh.

“Yes, I can cook, I’m actually an excellent cook, thank you,” I retort.

“If I get sick, I won’t be able to fuck you again later,” he points out, causing me to lightly hit his shoulder.

I roll my eyes. “You won’t get sick.”

He pulls me close, hugging me to his body. It’s funny how natural this all feels, how it feels like we’ve always been together. I guess, in a way, we kind of have. “I thought we could cook together?”

Gaelan kisses my cheek. “That sounds like a good idea, I can cook, so we won’t get sick,” he laughs. I playfully hit him as he rushes out the door. Laughing, I chase after him toward the kitchen.

Gaelan’s kitchen is enormous; I think it’s about the same size as my house's top floor. The walls are made of dark blue stone, just like the rest of the castle. The modern kitchen features white and gold marble countertops, as well as white cabinets that have glass fronts that illuminate when opened. There’s also a large kitchen island that runs down the middle, with chairs arranged around it.

I’m currently sitting at the island with a glass of wine, watching Gaelan trying to find a pan for the steak we’re going to have for dinner. I don’t think he’s even been in here before, let alone cooked.

“Do you want me to help you?” I smirk behind my wine glass.

“No, my Rose, you relax.” He pulls open another cabinet, and inside are canned goods. He growls, making me chuckle.

“I said I was going to cook for you. How about we do it together?”

“I just need the pan, and it will be fine,” he grumbles as he turns to look at me. “You can make dessert.”

“If you can find the pan.” I laugh, and Gaelan raises his eyebrow at me, his blue eyes flashing dangerously. He’s just fucked me in his office; you’d think he would need some time to recover.

“Stop looking at me like that, Rose, or the only thing you’ll be eating is my cock.”

His words make me whimper.

This man.

“Tell me what it said in the diary you found,” he says, opening what looks like a proofing oven. He shuts it and tries the other side of the kitchen.

“You didn’t tell me Macy was Tate’s daughter?”

He stops looking and turns to me. “You have a lot going on with finding the book. I didn’t want to worry you or scare you with that fact.”

“I’m worried and scared anyway.” I pull in a shaky breath and play with the ring on my finger.

I feel Gaelan at my back, and his arms wrap around me.

“Macy is one of Tate’s many children, a Princess of Hell as she and her siblings like to be known as.

No one really knows how many children he has—he mates with human females, then he kills the women and keeps the children.

Macy is one of his firstborn, his favorite. ”
