Chapter 59 #2
“Tell me, Arianna, how is your beautiful aunt May? It’s been a while since I have seen her.” The arrogant way he asks me this tells me he knows she is dead; how does he know her?
He raises his eyebrows, then moves to sit in one of the chairs. “Did she not tell you? I’m not surprised. She was a great lover; I think I broke her heart.” he sounds like he is gloating.
I think back to one of our last conversations with my Aunt May. She told me about a man she dated who didn’t end well. That couldn’t have been Tate, could it?
As I look at the smug look on his face, I know it was him. I try to keep the astonishment from my face, but the grin he gives me tells me he sees it. Gaelan is next to me now, his chest heaving with his anger, but he is holding back.
“And your grandfather? He was such a good fighter, it was fun killing him, his blood was so sweet, I kept him alive for a little while before I drained him completely,” he says matter-of-factly. I can feel tears pooling in my eyes, but I refuse to let them fall.
“The day you were born, I was going to steal you away, but your family had other ideas, hiding you from me. No one hides from me!” he yells, the last part making everyone scream and move further away.
“My Rose, careful, he is trying to bait us both; he is powerful,” I hear Gaelan in my head,
Tate may be powerful. But so am I. I say to myself.
My hands are at my sides. “I’m not going to ask you again.
You need to leave.” I move closer to him, and I push at his body with my powers a little, making his chair move back slightly from the force of it.
He sneers at me, then stands up fast. He lifts his hand and sends a bolt of black lightning toward me.
Aiming for my chest. I lift my hand, curl it, and the lightning turns to gold smoke before fading into the air.
He had meant to hurt me with that, if I wasn’t the book reader, if my powers didn’t outmatch his. I would have been hit by it.
I smile sweetly.
“You won’t beat me, Tate, not like before, your daughter should’ve told you that.” I pause and pretend to look thoughtful for a moment. “Oh, she can’t, can she… I killed her,” I smirk at him.
His lips curl back, giving me a deadly glare. He tries his powers again. I want to roll my eyes at him, by now. I thought he might have gotten it. Clearly not.
I whisper, “Acentdies,” and a barrier comes up, wrapping around everyone in this room.
It is iridescent, with gold, just like the bubble protecting Westery.
This one will protect everyone here from any powers he might use on us.
I know he can feel it, and it makes him scream out in rage; the anger on his face makes me smile.
I step closer again, challenging him.
“Leave” is just one word. If he doesn’t listen, I will kill him.
“Leave Tate, this realm will never be yours; you are not a lord, it will never belong to you,” Gaelan says. He is next to me again, and I know that both of us will fight him if we must.
Side by side as it should be.
“You think you can protect this place from me forever? Your father did, and look at what happened to him. Your mother was so beautiful begging for him, the things she did to save his life,” he groans. “Fuck, I miss her delicious mouth.”
Gaelan takes a step forward. “Fuck you, Tate,” he shouts at him, making Tate chuckle.
“There are only a few realms left for me to take before it is all mine. I will eventually come for this one. You may as well just give it to me,” he nods toward me. “And the book reader, punishment for killing my daughter.”
Gaelan shakes his head. “Over my dead body.” The venom in Gaelan’s voice makes Tate simmer with anger for a second before he smirks.
“A pleasure,” he and Gaelan said, moving closer to each other.
My hand comes out to stop Gaelan. I love my mate so much, and he is powerful, but it’s going to take a lot to kill Tate; this I can feel.
I look over at Tate and whisper. “Moters nema liliesk.” My powers push him hard back toward the wall until he hits it.
I hold him there for a second before dropping him hard to the floor.
He bows over in pain, his evil eyes find me, and he laughs darkly, then slowly nods his head.
“I need a little more power, that is fine, I shall bring her with me next time. The blood Bringer has killed you before, she can do it again” he walks over to Maggi who start to whimper, tears are still streaming down her face, her eyes darting all over the room in utter fear, I twist my hand next me trying to feel for whatever power he has on her so I can snap it, but it’s holding, not budging.
“Gaelan, we have to save her. He is going to kill her,” I say to my mate in my head.
I feel Gaelan take my hand and squeeze it.
“Can you hold him off my Rose” I hear him and nod my head, we both step closer, I lift my hand and send a massive gust of wind toward Tate, knocking him backwards, Gaelan shimmers from my side and grabs Tate by the neck and slams him into the ground, I rush forward and stand in front of Maggi and try to touch her, but the powers that surround her are pushing me back, it’s like two magnets repelling each other, I can hear Gaelan punching his anger into Tate, giving him the power he needs at the moment, but it won’t be long before Tate gets the better for him, I need to be fast.
Stepping back I can feel my book in Westrey flutter open, a spell lifts from the pages, and appear in the air, this time it doesn’t move to imprint on me, the symbol hovers in the air and then bursts into rains of gold glitter to cover over Maggi making her drop, I move to catch her, her eyes lock with mine and she smiles.
“Thank you, my lady.” Her voice is weak when she speaks, and she coughs.
“You honor me by wearing what I made you.” A light smile crosses her face before her head falls back and she dies in my arms. A few seconds later, she is dust in my hands.
I look up in time to see Tate wrap his hand around Gaelan’s Neck. He lifts him into the air and hisses., I stand up ready to fight him, but Gaelan shimmers a sword in his hand and stabs it through Tate’s chest. “For my mother and father,” he Roars.
Tate drops him and staggers backwards, a hard grin on his face as his eyes find me. “For now, you win,” he then smirks at me. “Tell me, my Lady, where is The Blood Bringer?” he raises an arrogant eyebrow, his voice full of sin as he shimmers out.
I frown, then look at Gaelan. “The Blood Bringer is at the palace?” The words leave my tongue as everything goes black, and my body falls to the floor; memories start to cloud my mind.
